Title: Dr De'Ath's Scavenge Skirmish Survive thread

After playing Silent Invaders excellent SSS game at blam I've decided to start on a small set of my own. First up, two small children:

They need their bases finishing but I'm going to do this as a batch job when I work out a snow method that I like.

Nice paintjobs and yes, the backpacks are superb. SSS seems to be sweeping the LAF!

Lovely work there Mark and I echo the praise of the backpacks.

Btw, I'm not sure if I mentioned it before but Bugsda used a smear of polyfilla with a touch of paint.

Beautiful. I'm quite fond of the SSS figures (just made my second order).

And, like the rest, I have to commend you on the backpacks. They really give the figures a life of their own.

Almost :)  I'm carrying over the shortfall into December. I've a few weeks off so should make that target ok.

I'm starting with a sand base painted brown and the edges of the base painted vajello 'off white'. Then I apply white ready mixed filler which I brush over with a 50/50 mix of water and pva. Before it dries I liberally apply woodland scenics soft flake snow. http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/softflakesnow (http://woodlandscenics.woodlandscenics.com/show/category/softflakesnow)

After 24 hours I sprinkle off the excess and apply another 50/50 mix of water and pva to fix the snow in place.

It's certainly very effective, especially on the plants/grasses and the top of the gas canister.  :-*
