My PSZ: Warhammer Apocalypse Z project is going into a deciding phase... lol

Excellent choice of zombies! How are you going about your project?
-
For rules, I'm using Pike & Shot and Zombies; I am tampering with some racial modifiers for character creation, and then I basically just need a lot of zombies and ruins (using the old Mordheim cardboard buildings for a start), as players can just bring their favourite painted Warhamster mini to use as their characters.
PSZ is set in a renaissance background, so there's rules for almost any weapon you might find in Ye Olde World.
Magic, on the other hand, was radically changed by the same event that triggered the zombiecalypse :D

Finally, some real progress to report:
First batch of quick-painted shamblers ready for the table.

Next batch will have a sickly greenish hue to them.
-
Looking good, and nice idea to boot!
-
Thanks! :)
Gardening, work, and the Colonial Painting Expedition is taking up my time right now, but I have the afternoon off tomorrow, and all Thursday, so I hope to do a stage or two on the next 10 zeds.

Next batch ready to... shamble... ::)

I've begun making the table for this project; 3 2x4 boards to be sanded, and painted in 'dry earth' colours, then covered with patches of half-dried grass.

The boards, of course, will be used for multiple other purposes, too. ;)
-
Last batch of 10 - for now:

and the story so far:

Time to turn the attention towards getting the boards ready!
-
Thanks - took me long enough (especially assembling all those multi-part plastics - yes, plastics, they are pre-restic from the KS, I think).
-
Some boards almost finished. I may actually get a game on next weekend! ;D

I made aq few blotches that has to be mended before the weekend, and I plan to glue some patcxhes of withereds grass onto the surface, but they'll do without for the first test game!
-
Shambling hordes look great, that's quite a bodymass of bodies :D
-
Thanks!
I'll be using some of the minis I painted for the MPO, and some old Elves and Dvarves for the survivors.
The plan is to make every playable faction (except the Undead) in the Warhammer world useable as player characters - in that way, anyone who owns some Warhammer minis can use his/her favourite model. Until it gets zombified, that is... ::)
-
Very effective poses/paint job on the zombies, they really do look like a shambling heaving mass intent on feasting on human flesh.
-
There aren't that many options for posing, actually - 3 torsos, 2 of them with left arm, 1 with both arms and 3 sets of legs (not counting the leg-amputated one), but the forward stooping of mosts combos makes for the 'shambling towards something' feel.
-
We actually played a game about 2 months ago, and I thought I had posted something about it, but it seems not... ::)

More pics, as always, on my blog.

Wow, the gore on the zombies really pops on that tabletop!
Awesomely gross!

lol
Thanks - on one of the batches I got the blood a bit too bright - but I think I can mend it somewhat with a black ink wash - just not one that dries up matt.
It's fun to go overboard with the splatter effects, and the Mantic zeds are begging for some gore :)
-
Nice looking stuff Niels!
-
WONDERFUL STUFF! The thought of facing off against hordes of Cannibalistic Deadites with sword, pike, & matchlock is far more terrifying than gunning them down with semi automatic weapons.
-
Thanks, guys! :)
I actually consider doing Pipe & Plaid and Zombies for next year's Horisont - I only have to purchase and paint a handful of renaissance/pike&shot highlanders, dust off my Great Kilt/Belted Plaid, and I'll be good to go ;D
