Title: Dunwich Board
Post by: Asthmathoth on December 09, 2013, 05:43:35 PM
Here ye see the decrepit village of Dunwich, where 3 unfortunate agents were asked by a shaken and recovering Dr. Armitage to recover the Whately Necronomicon. Unfortunately, the locals were none to cooperative and others had their eyes set on finding it as well...

After questioning the local yokels at Osborn's store, the team heads up the road into the back country in search of a lead, the elusive Amos Whately, a local moonshiner who is said to see many goings on in the backwoods. Unfortunately for one agent, they notice some movement in the forgotten cemetery and stop to investigate... meanwhile, strange figures rise up from the depths of the Miskatonic river...

It looks like there's some Renadra in there but any info on the large grey barn and the figures? Thanks  :)

Nice board! Really works well for a Lovecraftian rural ramble.

The barn is Renendra as well, Ramshackle Barn. We have 2 Grenadier investigators and a Hasslefree shooting it out with Rafm and Grenadier Ghouls before they raise too many Reaper Zombies, and two Rattrap hybrids and a Grenadier Deep One heading towards town whilst the heroes are occupied....

The fencing came with the Renedra house and church. The church (Osbornes) came with quite a bit and some tombstones. I added the door and windows from model railroad o scale kits and hacked up the steeple a bit.

Furious barking, then distant screams are heard from town, but our investigators have their hands full. Fortunately, the zombies have trouble navigating the fence...

An investigator bravely (foolishly?) breaks off from the team in a desperate attempt to lure the Deep Ones away from the remaining townfolk....

Backing away, the agent desperately attempts to unjam her gun as the 2nd hybrid lurches towards her. She kneecaps him just in time as the third Deep One goes for the door at Osborn's General Store.

Hi Asthmathoth,

The setup for your Dunwich Village is top notch; you've really managed to get the atmosphere.

Great photos, keep 'em coming.

As our foolhardy adventurer is driven off by the gimped but determined hybrid, the Deep One forces its way into Osborn's General Store in search of Wilbur's flawed but still powerful version of the Necronomicon. The Osborns make their escape put the back door...

Having dispatched the zombies and their necromantic Ghoul masters, the lead investigator heads around to assist with the pursuing hybrid. Meanwhile, the other team member investigates the ruckus coming from Osborns. He sees a large inhuman shape ransacking the store and opens fire! The Deep one is hit and gesticulates whilst muttering arcane gibberish and the Investigators gun arm shrivels to a useless husk! Having already been wounded in the battle with the ghouls, he drops dead.

The lead Agent plugs the hybrid just in time and heads over to aid his other team member. Apparently angered by the loss of one of his men, he rashly decides to lob a stick of dynamite into the Osbornes sole source of income and in fact the only store for miles. Possibly a historical landmark even. The Deep One is blown to bits!

Great pics and report on the action.

This thread has made me dig out my church kit and get it started. Looking forward to finishing it off and using it over the festive season.

As the smoke clears our remaining heroes search the village for survivors but are too late. orpses and ransacked buildings are all they find until they hear whimpering from under a porch. A wounded dog is coaxed out and patched up- a new team member! They also find a custom triple-barrel shotgun in the blacksmith area of the barn! They regroup with their new friend and upgraded weaponry back at the road out to the backcountry, certain that neither the Ghouls nor the Deep ones found the Whately Necronomicon. The search will continue...

Nice board!
Lots of nice, intriguing details.

I have a house very similar to that that needs finishing off.
I think I shall steal your colour scheme.
Thank you.
