Title: Bocage scenery?
Post by: Howard Whitehouse on June 05, 2008, 06:18:57 PM
I'm planning on building some bocage scenery. This isn't as easy as it might be, because the ground is at different heights, with sunken roads, even lower ditches, the banks of the hedges rising 3-5 feet, and the fact that some of the fields have the nerve to be hilly.  :D

So, simply laying out a line of lichen will NOT suffice!  :(

I am not sure whether I want to make modular hedgrow sections that back up to roadways (easy, but leaves the ditches as a largely imaginary thing) or make a nice, hard-to-store set of 2' square boards.

I had taken the links to a couple of nice modelling projects for bocage as reference, but my hard drive crash put paid to that. Anyone seen any good models?

And the sunken lanes - are they simply muddy tracks, asphalted modern roads, or something in between, with cobbles or suchlike? Anyone know? H

That's very nice. I notice he's kept the banks fairly low and emphasised the hedges, which may be the easier way to go! H
