I've been puzzling hard over this classic Rogue Trader Medic recently.
(http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/images/rogue-trader/rogue-trader-medic.jpg) (http://www.ninjabread.co.uk/)
Released in June 1988, he comes armed with a lasgun. When the Medics were codified into the White Dwarf 109 (January 1989) Imperial Guard army list they had no option to upgrade their default laspistol to a lasgun.
So, how can you field this model using the White Dwarf 109 army list?
Sod it, just use a different Medic miniature? Ask the GM for a roll on the standard weapons chart for a cost of 3 points? Sub the weapons with the charts in the main Rogue Trader book (as had been the case with the earlier Imperial Guard list in the Book of the Astronomican)? Just play counts as?

It's an RPG, innit?
Why wouldn't a character pick up a non-regulation weapon if it was better than his issued sidearm?
-
I wouldn't worry about it too much ;)

Depends how much you want him to have a lasgun. If you're not fussed just say that as a medic he has been rushed into service for his healing skills and is still short on training with anything other than pistols, this means that his ranged shooting with rifles is pretty poor meaning that although he is equipped with a lasgun, his effectiveness with it at range means it is treated as a pistol.

It's not a lasgun, but a really large laser scalpel? :o

I wouldn't worry about it too much, especially as it's such a nicely painted fig.
I always thought that the Imperial Army list in RT was much more fun than the Guard list that was published in WD.
Considering the fluff for them and all their different regiments, I reckon you can get away with your medic having a lasgun :)
Oh, and welcome lol

Officer can give unused rolled items to others miniatures.
So your commissar can get a lasgun and give it to your medic.

Solins. Thanks! That is a perfect solution! I hadn't spotted that duplicate and unwanted equipment could be issued to other models! That allows a lot of flexibility building the rest of the army and keeping it legal and wysiwyg.

I'd be more worried about a lack of white medic colours on him personally. :D
;)

they only had a white shoulder pad did they not or something similar, I cannot recall them being in white uniforms.

The Rogue Trader point costs are so off anyway I wouldn't worry about it.
