Last year I've only managed to paint 2 minis, so in the hope of painting a bit more this year I've decided to start a thread in the hope that it will inspire me (or at least shame me)to do a bit of more painting.
Anyway the idea is to do a Realms of Chaos style warband, not really intending to play with it so not really concerned in building a legal warband ruleswise, I've just been collecting anything that looks like it fit in, mostly Realms of Chaos era citadel minis, but I've also got some of clams evil dwarves, and Tre's Helsvakt waiting to get painted.
Anyway so these are the two I painted last year

And a couple I painted in the years before

Nice Old School miniatures, you did a great job on them :-*
Tre's helsvakt are also great sculpts, Would love to see some of them painted up!
-
Really nice work on the zebra skin centaur. Great to see some old school goodness too.
-
Thanks the centaurs pattern is actually based on an Okapi, I'm still planning to do a full zebra one down the line, though with my painting speed that will probably be somewhere in 2037 ;)

The Old Guys, Gals, & Whatever look WONDERFUL. Your brushwork & basing are OUTSTANDING...the okapi coloration was an inspired idea. VERY WELL DONE!
-
The Okapi idea for the centaur is very cool!
The demons look great too. 2014 will be a good year to paint ;)

Thanks, I've been looking at nature for inspiration for paintschemes, currently trying out with a tiger scheme on a demonette not sure how that will turn out and if it will fit in with the others, at the moment it looks VERY orange ;D but I've always liked the bit of random look of the Realms of chaos minis so I think it should work once it done :D
Also been looking at zebras, Giraffes, Bongos, and other big cats, for schemes that could work, but if anyone has any other suggestions of a nice animal pattern they're welcome.

So finally a bit of an update, I was holding of posting anything as I had thoughts of joining the LPL, of course there was no chance of me painting nearly enough ;D
but I did manage to paint 3 minis in the last few weeks, that's a whole mini more then I managed in all of 2013 so it's a win anyway :D
first of another demonette:

think I've might have gone a bit overboard with the tiger scheme, and I'm not sure how well it fits in with the others, but hopefully once the full 20 man unit is complete there will be enough variety that it won't look out of place
(http://imageshack.com/a/img23/4950/deeb.png)
next up a dark elf:
To be honest I wasn't sure about the scheme with the (half bothered done) NMM and the blue skin it looked a bit bland but I think the addition of the blood on the mace finally pulled it together
and finally a Chaos Dwarf:
(http://imageshack.com/a/img18/7416/cuax.png) (http://imageshack.com/a/img59/4634/0q9l.png)
To be honest not too sure about the shield design, I think I managed it in the end but I went about it a bit half bothered and should have thought about it a bit better, a blue fish on a blue background might not have been the smartest idea ;D For my next freehand shield I'll have to think about it a bit better before I start painting.
The blue fish will hopefully be a running theme through out the warband (there's also one on one of the centaurs), although I will probably branch out and add other nautical nonsense as well as the usual RoC designs.

Lovely work again, especially on the demonette.
-
All the new additions are BEAUTIFULLY painted & based, but the Tiger Babe is my favorite..the Girls always win out. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Tigra is amazing!
-
Love that Tiger deamonette. So bold and different! Bravo! I like the depth and variety of coloration on the other two as well.
-
The unknown Tully uncle, 'Bluefish'? I hear Martin's introducing him in Book 7. lol
-
Very nice paint jobs on all of them. I do like the purple Demons.

LOL yeah I had that thought reading the book, but honestly I thought of it before reading the books or watching the show, the design was actually inspired by Japanese Koi Tattoos, and it's blue because that's the colour I'm most confident with.

:o
Oh, my giddy aunt!
Some wonderful inspiration here for a ROC band or two.
I have been slowly putting together some old skool figures for something similar in the future and this is superb viewing.
The centaur is inspired, tigerette superb and that shield is a stroke of grnius.
Love 'em all!

Need an opinion, I just started painting a champion of Khorne, now I was trying to stay clear of the obvious red paint scheme and thought a white/blue (pre-heresy worldeater) scheme would be a nice idea instead, but now that I have started I'm second guessing myself, what do you guys think shall I continue with the white/blue or should I do a nice red instead, are there any other good options for khorne? I was also maybe thinking a nice warm yellow, but I hate painting yellow, then again I hate painting white too
anyway here's what I've got so far, obviously there would be more blue, shoulderpads, and probably the rest of the helmet, I'm just not sure I can get the white (probably more of a light grey) right, it all looks a bit flat to me so far, and I'm not sue what to do to get it looking right

what do you think, white/blue, Red, or something else?
-
This is a cool thread. It looks like you are having fun with the models, it seems to be coming out in the painting.
Brilliant.
-
Thanks, yeah, I'm only painting what I like, and am not really bothered with following any armylists, most of it is just cool stuff I got of ebay :D plus any other cool stuff I found that might fit into a RoC army. Hopefully in the end I'll end up with something that resembles a proper warband or even an army, but mostly it's about finding the joy in painting again

I have :D
Just seen the update :D
-
Nice additions.
-
That beastman is a definitive sculpt and really nicely painted :-*
-
yep that beastman is probably my favorite beastman sculpt, I remember seeing it in the 4th edition rulebook and wanting it back then, was very happy when I found it :D

Finished my first plague bearer, as the two tone scheme worked so well on the demonettes, I figured I would try it on the plague bearers too.
The little nurgling on the base was sculpted from scratch and is a bit rough, so I tried to hide it a bit in the grass
-
Your creations are UBERCOOL; you're developing a real flair for the subject. VERY WELL DONE all around!
-
Love the Chaos Champ and beastman. Cracking work!
-
Over at the Oldhammer forums, somebody had the idea of building all the premade chaos champions from the tables of the Realms of Chaos books,
it took me a while but I finaly finished my entry
So it's an Orc Champion of Nurgle with the following Chaos gifts: Invisibility, Technology - Bolter, Mane of Hair, Resilient, Infestation of Nurglings (861-865 on the Nurgle Champions table)

this is really sweet, and i do hope we see more activity in this thread in 2015 ;)
-
you and me both, had some problems with an tennis elbow that stopped me painting for a few months so this years output isn't as good as I had hoped but considering my output before that was about a half a mini a year, I'm not complaining, hopefully next year will be better though :D

Quick paintjob for the Random Platypus GW themed paint-a-long

The new Chaos Guy looks TERRIFIC in a whimsical sort of way...I'm into whimsy. The brushwork & color choices are GREAT, AND the mushroom on his base is OUTSTANDING. VERY WELL DONE!
