Title: 40mm Eureka Miniatures Cardinals' Guard

Hi!

After lurking for a few weeks, I am happy to show You the first 40mm Musketeer Mini from Eureka that I have painted. The cast-on blade was replaced by 0.5 x 0.65 mm steel wire.

More are to follow.

Good idea. I have been thinking about using big sewing needles for such purposes.

Welcome! That's a great miniature, and I really like what you did to replace the sword. It makes it look like a true rapier.

Nice to see one painted finally. Too bad they're 40mm, otherwise I'd had purchased some myself.
The white pattern on his coat looks good. I usually use a darker background colour (in this case a darker red) for outlining because it looks more natural. But black seems also to look good as it adds very much contrast to the pattern.

I thought of using a needle as a blade before, but when I browsed through a catalogue of dental supplies, it struck me like a lightning.
This rectangular steel wire simulates a blade much better than a round needle. The point just has to be ground to shape.
After polishing, it gleams spectacularly!
