Title: RAFM Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Miniatures Kickstarter
Post by: Mitchelxen on January 20, 2014, 03:16:09 PM
RAFM CALL OF CTHULHU 7th EDITION MINIATURES KICKSTARTER TO BEGIN!

Brantford, ON – January 18, 2014 – Silver Fox Productions Inc. will launch their new fundraising program for RAFM Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition on Kickstarter on January 22, 2014. This program will be open to supporters until Febuary 11, 2013. So find us on Kickstarter and support our new miniatures.

RAFM Call of Cthulhu Miniatures line provides gamers with pieces to bring life to Chaosium’s classic roleplaying game of Lovecraftian horror, in which ordinary people are confronted by the terrifying and alien forces of the Cthulhu Mythos. RAFM Call of Cthulhu Miniatures are hand sculpted 32mm white metal miniatures which can be painted or used to represent characters and monsters during game play. This bestselling line has won many game-industry awards and supports the Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition Chaosium ruleset.

The goal of this projet is to continue to build on the new edition of the RAFM Call of Cthulhu Miniatures which was started in the summer of 2013 and shipped to our supporters in December. The vision of the Kickstarter is to create miniatures from classic Chaosium modules including Masks of Nyarlathotep, Fungi from Yuggoth and House of R’lyeh. As new stretch goals are opened up, more modules and models may be added.

RAFM Company Inc, began producing rules and then miniatures for the gaming industry in 1979. RAFM Call of Cthulhu miniatures has probably been our most successful line. Envisioned and sculpted by Bob Murch for the Call of Cthulhu RPG by Chaosium Inc. the figures have transcended the industry and been reissued by many companies. None compare with the lasting tradition of the line. All miniatures are produced for Chaosium's Call of Cthulhu Role-playing Game and continue to be an official licensed product for the Call of Cthulhu Role-playing Game TM Seventh Edition.

Here is one piece of concept art!

Here is the copy of an email we received from a satisfied supporter of our first project!

"Subject: Thank-You For Being Awesome
I got my indiegogo package in the mail the other day, and my experience with this campaign has been so positive that I thought I'd shoot you a note of some well-earned praise. The new sculpts are great, the castings are great, the rewards packages were a good deal, everything was done way ahead of schedule, and if that weren't enough you even threw in a few bonus miniatures! Thanks again, and keep making monsters,"

Deal is almost $150 US for the 115 CAD with the shipping....$5 a fig? color me not impressed. Doubt I will be backing. Figs are decent but not amazing to pop that cash for 30 figs.

The USD is trading for $1.11 CAD right now. That means that the $115 CAD + $15 CAD = $130 CAD deal is only $117.31 USD right now. That is a nice bargain for 30 figures, which is now 32 figures because a stretch goal has opened up. That is $3.66 a figure with shipping included. And if you take the optional stuff the deal gets better. Right now four figures are going for $10.00 in one deal. That works out to $2.50 a figure for those four. These figures are also 32mm and some of these figures are over 50mm tall and all are made of METAL.
Of course I cannot guarantee the exchange rate when Kickstarter hits your credit card on Feb 11.

I'm on the fence right now. I'd hoped to see more creatures (and not creatures with guns either) and less investigators than the last time but it's almost the opposite. I have all the original figures that I want at this point so that's not appealing at all either. I'd really like to get behind this but so far I'm just not feeling it yet, nothing has jumped out and said "You have to have this!" Not saying that what I'm seeing isn't cool or well executed, just that it's not quite what I'm looking for at this point. (And my Mythos collection goes all the way back to the Grenadier figures that I bought a lot of when they were initially released so this is something I've been into for a long time.) I really hope it does well and at some point I see something that I can't live without.

I've just upped my pledge to the module level as they are adding more and more to it. Although I have most of the old minis it may work out better value this way. And you can never have too many Deep Ones  ;)

Interested in backing for $50, but not without any bonus incentives. Because now I'd be happy to wait until it's in the store so I can pick whatever I want to.

I too would have preferred an option to get only the new stuff - especially since I backed the Indiegogo campaign and added some of the 20$ for 40$ worth of minis then to complete my collection.

I backed at collector level though, since that was the only way to get the Star Vampire and other stretch goals.

Thanks

If you buy the NEW STUFF PLEDGE level ($50) you get the ten new miniatures and you have access to all the Optional Items. These Optional Items are all NEW miniatures that you can pick and choose what you want to buy, and all are really good deals btw, imo but I am biased.
You can add the figures from our IGG fundraiser (ten Investigators for $50), the God of Bloody Tongue +$10, the Servitor of the Outer Gods +$10, the Shoggoth +$10, and the Fungi from Yuggoth Set for +$10 (for four METAL miniatures). This will cost you a total of $90 (New Investigators not included because you may already have them) and you will get 11 humans and six monsters for that $90.00.
If you only want the monsters then put in $10 CAD for the THANK YOU! level and just buy the monsters listed.
The down side of either of these is that you cannot get the bonus miniatures. The only four bonus miniatures that are NEW at this point is the Star Vampire, Dimensional Being, Baron Hauptmann and Mr. Shiny. You will lose out on these but then you can go buy them at your store when they are produced in December.
I guess my point is there are lots of options.

See above you can get NEW STUFF for $50 which will be cheaper than in the store even with shipping involved. Shipping is pretty much free right now with the value of the US Dollar.

The new miniatures replace the old 25mm stuff, humans anyway. That is why the KS is human heavy. Also, Call of Cthulhu RPG is human heavy, as the modules are human heavy, lots of cultists and baddies, because in the game if you meet a monster you are quite often dead or insane and the game is over which equals no fun.
That being said if you wish to keep playing 25mm the product is available still at www.rafm.com.

That is the problem there....they are "buy on options" not "rewards" for being a backer. You have to pay X amount to get X amount, then add extra cash (which is on top of the shipping) to get extra items. While it is pick and choose, I find this a turn off for a KS as it is mining for extra cash (and while a company has to make money and afford things, I just feel this is nickle and diming someone to death)....I am a fan of either a straight up pledge (pledge X amount, unlocks come your way), I just hate feeling obligated to get a bunch of stuff at the higher pledge to get the add ons...

Often many KS of late tier their rewards to a high dollar amount that sucks someone into investing more than they may be willing to or has the budget.  What sells me is seeing the value, at this point I am not sold on the value as of yet. $50 for 10 figs is $5 a figure, fair price but not a great deal and that only again gives me the rights to spend more, not get rewarded for pledging to make it a success. Give a little to get more is my thoughts....

$50 should have been: 10 figs, access to add ons and free unlocks as well.
The $100 would be more ideal for those that wanted all 30, with the unlocks and access to the add ons as well.
That to me is a bit more of a value...I'd wager they would sell more $50's and get more likely investors than intimidating them with $100 but in with extra stuff they may not care about.

Yes there are lots of good deals and many free figures to be earned.
We have done a lot of planning for this KS and we have scheduled bonus miniatures to all pledge levels at some point during the campaign. So the New Stuff Pledge level will get several bonus miniatures depending on what stretch goals are met. The Module Collector level will be the best value and get all the bonus miniatures. The higher the KS goes, the more miniatures we can make and the more free miniatures will be earned by our supporters.

Yeah, also kind of disappointed in this one. To get any bonus out of it I have to get a bunch of investigators that I don't really want and any of the old stuff I want I already have (and that isn't a whole hell of a lot.) Sorry, but I think I'll pass and any of the monsters that I like I'll pick up down the line on eBay, probably at a cheaper price than the KS one. Was really hoping for something better than their IGG effort.

Interested in backing for $50, but not without any bonus incentives. Because now I'd be happy to wait until it's in the store so I can pick whatever I want to.

Fewer customers with more money willing to buy a set collection means lower costs. Sure, they're not going to get *everyone* who's interested in the figures (including those who already have them), but they don't need everyone to back them today, especially when they intend to sell them tomorrow. If you don't have a wad-o-cash or want to pick your own figures, RAFM has a 25% off sale right now, so you can get access to their catalog, including non-Cthulhu figures, and the 7th Edition figures from their IndieGoGo Campaign. If you're in Canada, shipping is free, so the $25 CAD "Insanity Add-On" pledge is the best deal, $25 CAD for $50 CAD stuff. For those with Deep One pockets, can also get their "Insanity Add-On" pledge, which, as buried in the comments, you can add the Module. That saves shipping costs.

If you just want the add-ons, you pledge at the $10 level to cover shipping -- and you're actually paying *less* shipping than the Module pledgers. You're not obligated to buy as many miniatures or the module bundle, so *that's* why you're not getting the free stretch goals. Many KS I've seen set $100 as the minimum to qualify for free stretch goals, and don't give free stretch goals with add-on only purchases. Many of the add-ons contain large figures, which would be difficult to add as free stretch goals.

With shipping, the $115 Module is $117 USD for 43 miniatures, or $2.70 USD per mini, although most are human-sized or smaller. Expansion set #3 is $10 CAD for 4 new miniatures, including a large one.

If you can find the mini's on eBay at a better price, buy 'em. The Module mini's are about 50% off catalog in CAD, and the eBay prices I'm seeing are 20% off in USD. $1 CAD = $.90 USD.

$25,000 and 200 Backers Reached!

Thanks to all our Backers that helped us reach these two important milestones!

We have updated the page to support the $25,000 stretch goal being met. The Module Collector Pledge level currently has over $270.00 MSRP of product for only $115.00 CAD plus shipping. Come on over and get some really nice miniatures for a great price!

As promised we posted the concept art of the Deep One Ogres but we went with Father Dagon and Mother Hydra as names for the pieces. See the concept art area. Thanks for the ideas keep them coming!

Stretch Goal for $31,000 level has been added. We are looking forward to reaching $37,000, that will be the next big goal, so let's get to $31,000 so we can see the goodies.

31K stretch goal has been unlocked early -- two more miniatures added to the Module. 45 minis for $115 CAD + $15 CAD shipping = $2.60 USD per mini!

So at the 37K level, you get this big guy as well as the three standing stones at *every* pledge level, including the $10 CAD...! at New Miniatures and Module pledge levels.

same for me, my collection of the old models is complete thanks to the Indiegogo campaign. Would love to get the new minis (most of all the monsters), but so far I have not pledged since there is no new monster only pledge level, but in particular since the New Stuff pledge level does not include the (new!) stretch goal minis...

Update 13, sans pics. The Monster pledge is $45 for 5 large and 5 smaller minis. Only 2.5K to the Wind Walker!

1) We have added a new Stretch Goal at $34,000. This Stretch Goal is the Wind Walker and will be added free to New Stuff and Module Collector Pledge levels.

2) We have added a new large size kit to our offering. Extra#3 is a $25.00 Add-on and it is based on the artwork for this Kickstarter by Christopher Burdett. Come on over and get yourself a copy. We will require a minimum amount of orders to produce this one so get your order in now by increasing your pledge.

3) As discussed we have added a Monster Pledge level. As it's name implies this pledge gives you one each of the Monster Add-Ons. It is intended as an alternative to get more people involved. So let your friends know. It has access to some Stretch Goals as noted.

4) Other Pledges Added. We also added a Retailer Pledge and two design your own miniature pledges. If you are interested in any of these pledges they are available. Here is your chance to get that Monster designed that you have always wanted or have an Investigator made that resembles you!

5) So there you have it. If we make it to 300 Backers we should have three more Summoning Stones (added to all pledge levels), a Wind Walker (added to Module Collector), two Hybrid Deep Ones and Father Dagon Added. There should be some incentives there for everyone!

I have pledged nearly $200 really hoping to see the haunter of the dark too before it all comes to an end.
Can I pledge more after the project is closed? If Cthulhu would get unlocked I would really like to order it.
But I have to work tomorrow and the project will close in the middle of the night here (Sweden), so I will not be able to follow the last couple of hours.

However, with 4 hours to go, they're only $75 from this *free* large model:

I tried to pledge but KS wouldn't accept my credit card. Was in touch with KS customer service, they blamed my bank, my bank said there was no problem so I'm still going with it was a KS issue but everybody loses out, KS on their cut of the money, SF on the additional funding, the other pledgers because more $ means more stretches and finally me cause I didn't get the models I wanted.

Which credit card did you try to use? I had to use a different credit card than I usually use on KS. I assume the reason was this was a Canadian company or one outside of the US. Anyway, I have two credit cards because not all companies will accept the one I usually use.

just a quick question, has anyone in Europe (Belgium) got the shipment from the last (Indigogo) campaign yet (the one with the new flying polyp that was sent out last)? I am still waiting for mine, but am not sure if it is just the long shipping time that delayed it...

I haven't received my IGG figures yet (also Belgium, also Flying Polyp).

Other shipments from Canada I've received in the past have taken 6-8 weeks to arrive. Since my parcel was sent jan 7th, I'm not overly worried. Chances are that customs may cause an additional delay.

fwiw, At the time of shipment (and still now I think) Canada and northern parts of US were hit by some arctic front (or whatever you call it). A parcel I had shipped from Minnesota (just south of Canada) took *five* days to cross the state, when it should have taken less than half that time. Some US backers didn't receive their mini's until towards the end of the last RAFM KS Campaign.

BTW, Does not having the mini's of a previous campaign influence your decision to back the current one? Even if they're being shipped, I'd like to have the figures from the last KS in front of me before backing the current one. I've noticed a few miniatures KS that are starting up even though not all the previous miniatures have been made.

I've received the figures today - I would think that you also should get yours this week.

I'm in France, and I haven't got mine either. At least it's a bit of comfort to know I'm not alone.

Finally got mine today. Fine minis, if a bit on the tall side (nothing unexpected by today's standards).

From the latest update (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/941525798/rafm-call-of-cthulhu-7th-edition-miniatures/posts/830749)...

Quote
Just a note, we are looking at running a new Kickstarter. Have no fear this project will not interfere with the production of your 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu Miniatures because it is an external production product and will not interfere with our in house production capacity. Thanks for all your support!

First thoughts (and probably I'm not alone with these):

1) That's a lot of kickstarters.
2) What's in the box?

We'll see...

Latest sculpts, by Bob Olley. Haunter in the Dark and The Thing in the Fog. Both come in the Module pledge level. Nice!

Got them, hammered with customs charge though. £28 a disgrace for just over a $100 worth of figures. The figures are nice, which helps a bit. THE CID.  >:(

Yeah, I'm going to have to say that for the most part I'm not too blown away by the majority of the RAFM sculpts in general I can definitely see me adding these two to my Mythos miniature collection. And, while not exactly how I envisioned the Haunter myself I find myself liking this interpretation quite a lot.

From the RAFM March newsletter: "Things continue to move forward with both our Kickstarters. It looks like we will be shipping the first of our backers for the Call of Cthulhu Kickstarter their products by the end of the month. The Airship Pirates Kickstarter has 90% of the models already sculpted and in our hands. With only the Pterodactyls left to be sculpted this project is moving forward quickly. Stay tuned for our official release of these new figures in the upcoming months!"

Also: "That's right, get 25% off any product from our catalogue in March! The sale runs from March 9th thru March 16th."
