Title: LOTR progress thread.
Post by: The_Wisecrack on June 12, 2008, 06:17:44 PM: hi i will be documenting my progress in a new project to create the inhabitants ad buildings of bree. i will not be abandoning this project as i finish my exams tomorrow so LOTS OF FREE TIME. okalee. to start off a hobbit called Nob who works in the prancing pony in the book. (its all going to be going by book) and the start of a new building.

Yes, please keep us informed. I've always wanted to do little things on the side like Beorn or Brand and the likes. However, I have absolutely no skills in working with green stuff and the like.

and yes i have wanted to have a beorn but the thing is he just isn't practical for play, he doesn't really fit in much place and i know that GW will make one in 2010 when hobbit comes out any how.

Well, last thing I heard that the Hobbit and the other movie are in danger of being stopped due to some financial disputes with Christopher Tolkien. However, I really hope they'll be able to finish them. Lots and lots of new characters to look forward to...

Nearly! It's actually "Barliman Butterbur" - Bugman is the Dwarf Master Brewer in Warhammer. You were def on the right track, though lol

Your painting is improving though - even looking at your first hobbit at the start of this thread, this new chap is much better.

I've seen the rangers and imediately the little nerd in me woke up: you do realize that the black banner with the white tree is the royal flag of Gondor. It may only be carried in the service of the king (one of the things that got me worked uo in the movie). The flag of Gondor under the guidance of the stewards is a silver tree on a white field (which looks absolutely stupid...).

And yes, the film had it completely wrong about the banners - Aragorn unfolding the black banner on Pelennor Fields was the main instigation of the returning heir to claim the throne.

The scene in the extended DVD with Boromir shouting after retaking Osgiliath was about right, though... I just don't think the tree was silver..??

Sure, it's your game and your minis :) I was just referring to the original text as compared to what was seen on screen. The black banners look better with the black/silver livery of Gondor, too.

as for my sculpting.....i just went along with it, im casting up my second ent soon (in a stamping pose) so keep an eye out for that on my casting thread, and it might ..... MIGHT be up for retail.
