That is an awesome start! 8)
I've been ogling those lasercut buldings for some time now too, and seeing what you've done with them has only confirmed that they're absolutely worth it.
Especially your airbrush work sets them off really well, although I'm not fully sold on the very bright finish you chose, in regard to the setting. Cyberpunk to me has always been rather dark and brooding, with loads of decay, litter and bad lighting (I'm sure we've all just been indoctrinated by Scott's vision of Blade Runner though ;) ).
I am especially impressed by the holo-adds and the food stand; they're just perfect and your additions really give the kitchen a grimy, used look!
I also really like the large pieces of graffiti, but I feel the smaller ones are a bit too bright and random. They look like they were stuck on, like posters. So maybe tone their brightness down a bit by very lightly misting them with the wall's base colour? Of course you've already sealed the buildings, so perhaps that's not an option anymore...
The minis are also great; excellent selection and paintjobs. They're all cyberpunks to a fault :D
Are you going for an entire table like this? And if yes; how large a surface will you be doing? Your rules sound enticing too. Are they an official expansion, or houserules?
That is an awesome start! 8)

I especially like the walled generator compound with the factory-like buildings next to it. The combination of high-tech and old buildings really gets that cyberpunk feeling across!
And even though more buildings are always good of course, won't you need some open areas too? The biggest thing missing from my perspective now would be the right surface; streets, roads, pavement, sidewalks etc, to really get that urban feel. But I'm sire that's being worked on ;)
I also really like the cyberspace idea. It somehow reminds me of one of my favourite PC games; Deus Ex; Human Revolution, where you also had to master small side games to hack into systems, open doors etc.
Can you elaborate on how cyberspace works in your mod? Is it triggered when a player wants to hack a terminal for instance? I'm intrigued...
That's how I thought it would pan out, yeah. So I take it the cyberspace action takes place simultaneously with the realworld action?
Are there any cyber defences, like bots, scrips and firewalls? And can hackers encounter eachother in cyberspace? in other words; are the terminals connected through cyberspace? That way, there can be a full cyberbattle raging parallel to the realworld shootout!
The more I think about it, the more I like it...

Oooooh excellent suggestions guys! Keep 'em coming :-*
Creepily cool sounds good.
However, since I do not have Spotify, can anyone list what songs you guys are listening to? I'm always interested in (more) Cyberpunk/near future music to play (in the background)! :-)
I have the Rezolution CSO Stomper in my head as a Pulp Alley Terror. It's perfect!

And I highly recommend downloading Spotify! It's free nowadays and you can listen about anything legally for free. The ads are a bit annoying, but hey...it's free!
I remembered a very cool miniature I have at home:

Great looking paintjobs, are you using an airbrush? Undercoating? highlights? What is your technique?
Yeah! I will get the following vehicles for my selection:

For a paint scheme I am going for a less garish scheme. First, these colors don't fit in with my style and second NO WAY I have the skills to do such airbrushing. And with a more 'regular' scheme these will also fit in better with my Antenociti vehicles.
Sorry, I get excited when I see airbrush use on a mini! ;D Its a technique that still evades my solid grasp despite owning several different airbrushs for over 20 years. I find I agree with your second point, as it defines my problems with airbrushing minis. It has a nice effect, seems to speed the process, but there are still loads of details to be added in with a regular brush afterwards.
Woah, some quick questions with some long answers incoming :P
Great job on the minis! Mr. Long is way cool!
@Mason: cheers mate! Mr. Long is by Excalibur Miniatures...a really weird but extremely fun range with some fantastic sculpts:

Wow, this is a great thread! Very inspirational. We've been playing a lot of Pulp Alley recently and have talked about branching out and using it for different settings, Cyberpunk being one of them...
So I got myself some dice cubes, went to work in InDesign and made me some Cyberpunk ad towers!
Have you considered adding a lightbulb and battery inside to give it an illuminated look? May need to print the signs on thinner paper to get it to work.
Very nice. The Ad-cubes are great. If anyone is tempted to light them beware that bulbs will potentially give off a lot of heat & could end up distorting or melting the cube. It would be less of an issue with LEDs but i'd still suggest some ventilation holes somewhere in the cube.
So I have reading through Pulp Alley. It reminds me of Savage Worlds a little. I like how you can stat out your own models for it ti customize your league. I still do not fully understand how slots work though.
Salcor
Finally, I added some graffiti decals I bought on eBay. Now I went for decals on transparant paper, but in hindsight I'd should have bought the decals on white paper. The disadvantage of transparant paper is that the painting underneath shines through. So not ideal for decals. But still, I think they are acceptable.
Is there anything in particular? I'm sure many of us would be happy to help you sort out any trouble.
So if I understand correctly at base you have 10 slots to fill with models other than you leader. However league perks alo to p slots as well. What other options take slots? It would be interesting to see some of the Cyber Alley team rostersto get an understanding. Also, for this conversion are there any specific abilities or perks? Is there a hacker ability, for example?

Has anyone used world works terrain for their cyber alley games? The SwiftScenics line, especially the office blocks, are very nice for CP gaming (if you don't need interiors).

Sorry for the lack of replies guys! A bit of a roller coaster here as my 2 year old son was diagnosed with diabetes type 1 :(. So a lot of stuff going on...but I will post some Cyber Alley cards I made soon to show how Pulp Alley can be used for Cyberpunk. And I'll also post the rules I wrote. The Cyberspace tiles I made can be found in this topic (somewhere...;)) IIRC.

For the first read through of your Cyber Alley modifications I like what I see, but I am still Thinking through some of it. At the moment I won't comment on the Cyberspace rules since I am still thinking them through.
Thoughts:
1) I like your basic premise for Battlesuits, although I think would recommend a change to Armored Weapons Platform, my suggestion
Armored Weapons Platform
Character increases Brawl by +1d
Character replaces Shoot dice with light gun
Character may spend 1 gear modification point per the gun modification table page 16 of Gadgets, Guns, and Vehicles. All guns are treated as advanced.
A Character rolls two extra dice for health checks and discards the two lowest.
A Battlesuit cannot make normal recovery rolls and can only be repaired.

Curious about your thoughts on Cyberspace :)I'm a bit confused regarding 'Creating Avatars'... The text suggests that followers make the best hackers, but the Character Class / Avatar Class table has no listing for Follower. It does list 'Leader' twice under the character class column however.
Another idea we've been playtesting for Sci-Fi and Fantasy is "Fields/Shields"
Players may see that in many ways a field simply acts as a "pseudo-Health" which protects a character until it is destroyed.
Malebolgia,
I have a question about the cyberalley rules for creating Hackers. For the AT-43 game I am playing with a friend we each created a follower level hackers, which leads to a leader level avatar. So would I use the leader character creation rules for the Hacker's avatar? Also how do you assign programs? Can a Hacker just create any programs that they want, or is there a limit? Are they acquired during the scenario resource phase?
Thanks,
Salcor
I'm glad to hear that you are working on Cyberpunk again, I love this thread :)
Nope, not yet. There are some other games now hot in my gaming time...but I will surely get back to Pulp Alley. I'm also working on a selfmade Cyberpunk rules system as Pulp Alley doesn't give what I aim for in Cyberpunk games. I'm working on it, on and off...but it's getting there. It's influenced by Pulp Alley, Deadzone, Malifaux, Warmachine...so basically all my favorite games :)
More like Cyber-Ho if you ask me :-I
.......... or some street lights for my Games & Gears battle boards!
Wow that is amazing. I am sad I did not get in on the Kickstarter. Oh well I will just purchase it when it comes out.

How about mounting them in felt and have a felt matt on the table, that should be fairly sturdy with regard to being knocked around?
cheers

Eilif, I think there are also some hard plastic wheels from lego that make great sci-fi barrels. I think I have both lying around in my old collection but no way I'm going to break into that, I would have to order some pieces. That skip might really be a good idea I have to say.
Thanks guys! Your reactions are always motivating to do more stuff. So...
Update – Cyberspace and indoor gaming tiles
A terrain related update. I finally finished my Cyberspace gaming tiles for Cyberspace gaming. I printed the designs, glued them to black foamcore and cut them. Easypeasy and I’m happy I’ve finished the product.
Next up are the first half of my Pwork gaming tiles. I wanted to have some tiles for indoor games. Although I have Space Hulk, DOOM, Sedition Wars and some AT-43 tiles I don’t think they are perfect for Cyberpunk sci-fi games. Space Hulk is too gothic and gloomy, DOOM is too bloody, Sedition Wars is unwieldy and AT-43 is too vague. So time to do something else. Pwork sells nice floorplans. I bought them, printed them and also glued them on black foamcore and cut them. The ones in the photos are half of what I’ve got, I only need to cut the second half of the foamcore pieces.
I’m happy with how these have turned out. Two evenings work and enough options for many games. Next Friday I have a Cyberpunk session, so time to try them out!
I’m only doubting whether to add magnets to the foamcore to make it a rigid layout which won’t slide apart at the slightest bump.
And of course the table layout needs a lot of furniture. And I want to get some random acryllic cuts for CYberspace. THat will be the hardest part. Random acryllic things that seem electronic or digital in design, but still a bit vague in design. Think of them as cyberspace furniture.
The garbage big boxes are wonderful! :o How did you these?
You mean the skips? These were painted as follows:
Basecoat: Foundation Iyanden Darksun
Grimy shade: Citadel Typhus Corrosion (awesome stuff...just splash it on near the ridges and then use a moist brush to move it around)
Take some blister foam.
Rust 1: Vallejo Chocolate stippled on with the blister foam
Rust 2: Citadel Vermin Fur stippled on with the blister foam
Rust 3: Citadel Leprous Brown stippled on with the blister foam
The red ones follow a similar formula, but use Citadel Foundation Mecharite Red as basecoat, highlighted to Italeri Flat Red.
You mean the blueish skips?
Basecoat with Citadel Foundation Fenris Grey
Shade with P3 Coal Black + Citadel Lahmian Medium
Take some blister foam
Take P3 Frostbite and stipple it on, but mostly swipe it across to get an effect that fits more with plastic than metal.
@Puuka: Thanks! I'll remind myself to get get them someday.
Tommygun's website is down at the moment...hope it comes back up again soon!

I love the that Khador graffiti. lol Nice touch. lol lol
I wish I could paint scenery like this.
Any chance for pics of it with buildings on it as well?
Oh, the buildings are there all right, but unless you have the 'See-Cyberspace-HD module' LAF upgrade on your device you will not be able to see them.
;)
But Kingdom Death was awesome!
The Bee drone was fast to paint (in the colours of Planes' Ripslinger plane - green, orange and black), although he was hard to assemble and some details were hard to see. They make a nice pair!
Stop complaining, your's looks awesome. But in all honestly yeah I fell for the age-old trap of 3d design, it's always smaller than you think. the second version I printed was almost twice as large with most details either removed or enlarged. Still, you made that one look pretty nice, it does it more justice than a quick sketch and print deserves! :-*
Wonderful stuff. Gorgeous table. :-*
Malebolgia,
Your assembled table is down right amazing! Did you run chrome warriors on it? How did it go?
Salcor
Love seeing all that fine looking terrain in action. Awesome pics :-*. Those ad boards are really eye catching. Are they re-purposed dice boxes? If you answered this earlier I'm sorry. I was probably too busy looking at the pretty pictures :) .`
@rules&cards: the most funny thing about the rules&cards update is that the latest print run I received are already unuseable lol. Oh...I received these cards last Saturday when I was away from home. I wanted to bring them along to Poldercon, but missed this by a day. That was a big bummer when I got home after the con. But I also had a good laugh about it.
What is the beluga! reference? Bulbous Bu-font?
I am feeling I am nearing a state of relative completeness of the city lol
As was that Shane Hoyle fellow ;)
I hope you will also get the Hardwire Troupe from Wargames Foundry! 8)
Wow, that is one trippy neon dream! 8) :-*
Having played on that table and those buildings several times now, I'm still amazed by how good it all looks, especially with the moody lighting. I never noticed the arguing couple behind the doors of the one building; that's hilarious! lol
But your excellent choice of miniatures, terrain and lighting really sets off this project of yours; it's growing from strength to strength.
I'm a bit wary of MDF vehicles, as the material can never reproduce the curves that define most vehicles. But you made the best out of that bus; it's not half as jarring as I expected it would be. Of course your painting helps a lot. And the decals on the sides are great! Do they come with the kit, or are they of your own making?
And are you now switching to transparent bases for your miniatures? Or are those reserved for non-combatant NPCs?
Keep it up; I hope I'll be able to play on your table again next Poldercon, be that Cyberpunk, Turtles or something completely different... 8)
Let me be the latest to discover this thread.
Simply amazing stuff! Kudos to Malebolgia.
What's the latest on seeing (getting) the Cyber Alley rules and cards? I found this:
http://paintoholic.nl/cyberalley/cyberalley.pdf
but there's no date or version number.
Anything else? Inquiring minds want to know!
Thanks
Chuck
Mal,
As always, your stuff looks amazing. How are you changing up the perilous island to be cyberpunk? Are you just using straight PA 2nd Ed?
Salcor
ooooh. I like that miniature. And the brush work is up to your usual standard of excellence.
Interesting sculpt, that punk.
And is Hayley's eye actually glowing? Great brushwork yet again! 8)
Instead it will be with the miniatures from Chronicle X, to recreate a silly X-Com game.
Cheers lads! It may take a while, but I have more buildings planned from the future. So the city will keep on growing!
Great work! 8)
And I know exactly what you had to work with, so extra kudos on that.
Yours seem to actually have facial features, or did you paint them on? I have some in my pledge that are so bad, the faces are just one big blob. It's one of the reasons I've put my pledge up for sale, because I was sorely disappointed in the quality of the minis.
Also, the game, while the premise is really cool, was way too fiddly, with a ton of teeny-tiny card tokens, and all in all a bit too complex and gamey to my liking. A shame, because the whole Mercs universe felt a bit like Infinity light, and also their Myth game is an absolute blast to play.
But seeing what you have been able to achieve here, I might just take another look at the pile of minis in there... ;)
So much mirrorshade excellence... It makes me want to turn my attention back to cyberpunk gaming.
I really wanted to like MERCS. I tried, really I did. I thought the setting and early sculpts were great. I still love my metal Kem Var squad. But the game was just so gimmicky and fussy. Like it tried to reinvent the wheel and came up with a pentagon; an inadequate answer to an unnecessary question.
What an amazing work you've done on that hunk of MDF!
Awesome table (and figures)! Where did you get the green and purple futuristic vehicles?
T
Thanks for the inspiration, I've got some of scenery, so will need to give that a go.
Any particular filler used?
And Milfguard? Someone has been watching the Witcher and been secretly giggling everytime someone mentioned Nilfguard... lol
