Title: Some 20mm Soviets - what do people think of them
Post by: BattlewagonBruce on February 09, 2014, 12:17:48 PM
Dear Lead Adventurers

I mostly deal in WW2 28mm stuff for commission or on Ebay (as well as the shows).

I have branched out into painting 1:72 stuff for sale recently and its going well. Some good results on Ebay with German stuff.

I did some Soviet stuff and it's on Ebay at present, including a T-34 with tank riders and it is not shifting! I would really appreciate some feedback, as I was more than happy with them. I have found pricing braille scale a challenge as its just as much work but less bulk for you money than 28's.

Maybe its Russian, as the Germans sold very well?

Heres some photos:

Maybe the issue is that they are plastic, Esci, by the look of them?

They are well painted, if they were metal, say Elheim for instance, they would do very well.

Incredible skills--model making and painting.

Huzzah!

I like them. I have 1:72 armies. Tricky but good fun.

Wishing you the best.

I like them The painting is very neat and nice. If I had to make one criticism, it would be the horse being less highlighted than it could be, this is a small thing and certainly nothing to stop people buying them.

Ebay can be a very odd place to sell stuff, you can put something through at a silly stupid (high) price to test the waters and it will be gone in seconds, something as good, at a modest price, can hang around for months, it is very much down to the right buyer seeing your stuff at just the right time for them to buy.

Re the German/Russian thing, people perceive the German uniforms and vehicles to be harder to paint, what with the camouflage patterns and such, while they think the Russians are easier. If you have two units, one German and one Russian, that are made up identically, most people would expect to pay a bit less for the Russians I have found.

People are very odd sometimes  ;)

Lovely paintjob - could be the winter theme putting people off maybe?

I would also say this is the point as metal miniatures are much more appreciated by serious collectors and have a higher resell value.
