Title: Chaos on the Sands or Our First Pulp Alley Game!
Post by: Amalric on February 14, 2014, 03:12:22 PM
Well last night I boldly told the Missus no TV or computer! We would be playing Pulp Alley with the girls.
Well after a brief, but spirited, discussion, the dining room table was cleared and I proceeded to set up our own little slice of Egypt. As this would be our first Pulp Alley game and we would have 4 players, we would be using 432 leagues, Leader/Sidekick/Ally, to hopefully keep things simple as we learned the rules. I had pre-generated a number of leagues based on the minis we have available and so I set out the leaders figures to chose from and off we went.

Rocketess [Missus], with Sidekick Ensign Alex and Ally Sarge the USMC Bulldog

Huntress [Thing 1] with Nala and Lin

Evie [Thing 2] with Rick and Johnathan

Dr E [me] with Prof Weiss and Robot #1

The table for Smash and Grab!
Tales of a meteor crashing amongst the ruins of Hamanuptra was an irresistible attraction to many and adventurer.

A-minor Plot Point-Dr Jones' notes in the glove box of his wrecked truck
B-minor Plot Point-recent notes in chalk written on the base of the obelisk
C-minor Plot Point- something unexpectedly sparkles on the statue of Bast
D-minor Plot Point-recent notes in chalk written on the base of the wrecked obelisk
E-major Plot Point - Mjolnir, what was an unmovable Norse warhammer doing in Egypt?

Each team started in a corner ruin and the shooting started quick.

First off Robot #1 was ordered to the ruined obelisk's base where it ran into Jonathan and a shoot out between man and machine began in earnest. Lead vs death ray, which would prevail?

Prof Weiss headed to the truck but was met by Sarge who quickly expressed himself by hiking a leg.

Meanwhile, Huntress runs to the well of Bast and finds a jeweled Scarab hidden in the necklace of the statue.

Rocketess used her jetpacks last fuel to jet to the center where she soon meet with the competition and a serious fight soon began.

Evie, knowing the hammer is unmovable, quickly finds a shard of stone with Norse runes and rushes to her brothers aid.

Prof Weiss begins to futilely hunt Sarge who flees back to the ruins.

Huntress rushes Evie to stop her from escape but to no avail!

Meanwhile, out of sight of the photographers Alex copies and removes the chalk notes from the obelisk and fends off Nala the lioness. Rick rushes around trying to shoot folks, but missing. Dr E discovers that he is not bulletproof and after several rounds of hilarious give and take Robot #1 drops that annoying Jonathan.

Being a school night, we called the game after just 3 turns. Not surprisingly, Evie took a clear win with the major plot and 1 minor plot point. Each of the other 3 teams had 1 minor plot point. Could Evie have held on for 3+ more turns? The game was a clear success with everyone having a good time and lots of laughs. Where else could your wife tell you she is having her dog pee on one of your characters legs?  What was especially fun was how quickly rivalries developed and how much fun folks had playing cards on each other. Now, to go back and reread the rules to see what I messed up on.  ;)

Top notch, Sir.

Great report, with plenty of action.

This is presumably what I refer to as a 'Full and frank exchange of views'!

Brilliant!

Seriously, though, what a great game and all that in only three turns. Some very nice scenery there, too. Pulp Alley is obviously a great family game. Peter@BattleScape has proved that with his great reports from his hospital games. I'm waiting to get my granddaughter involved when she comes to visit, now that she's 4 months old. Her mother wants me to paint some minis for her!

Does this count as a regular peril, or an extreme peril?

 lol  lol  lol  lol

That's got to be a double-super-massive-extreme peril, hasn't it?

It's a bit like winning the Victoria Cross, there has to be a 90% chance of death!

 :D
Reminds me of a quote from one of my favorite movies;
"Can I have some of the peril?
No! It's too perilous!"

Mila,

To answer your question from TMP, Prof Weiss is Reaper's Chronoscope Prof Laura;
She got a new right hand holding a Luger from Victory Force. The VF Luger is the best out there. Trust me I know  ;).
I also gently twisted her head to face to the right like she is aiming.
