We are getting really excited at Victrix as we draw ever closer to the release of our 2 new sets 'Greek unarmoured hoplites and archers' and 'Greek Pletasts, javelin men and slingers'. We expect them to be on release in April in time for Salute 2014.
The boxes are done.
First test shots of the sprues will be appearing in March.

Though I hope that these shots aren't the final production prototypes, the slinger is looking a bit clumsy

I can see many uses for these for any ancient/Dark Age groups that tunics rather than trousers...

Stuff like this is important for soooo many armies of the period - nice to see big boxes of plastic as an option now...and I don't even play the era!

I am looking to using them as Carthaginian troops for the Punic Wars. I am just looking for some Spanish heads to turn them into Celt-Iberian/Spanish troops as well. Plastics are fantastic.

Good stuff! However, are the hair styles on the box art accurate? Also, why no beards?

Pretty psyched for these! I have plenty if Hoplites, but would love some light troops to support them (I bought WGF Numidians a while back, but most got repurposed into Dark Ages guys).
I can see many uses for these for any ancient/Dark Age groups that tunics rather than trousers...
I was thinking the same thing, although the bodies with boots might not fit a Dark Ages Welsh/Scots/Irish/Pict aesthetic. They usually seem to be depicted bare-footed or with simple shoes, rather than laced boots.

It's less work grinding away the boots in a few cases than trousers in a lot of cases lol
The second box looks good - tunics rather than the "off the shoulder" look. Replace heads with spares from West Wind /GB, bodge the swords and daggers, show them a bit of green stuff here and there and my Welsh/Pictish armies are good to go!

Lots of potential and nice figures too from the look of it.
I can see them as the basis for A Dark Age Irish 'Raider' army, but the worse thing is that I feel that urge for a Servile War army/mob coming up again.
With the disappearance of the 'Aventine' gladiators/ rebels I thought that particular itch scratched, but nope, it's still there. :'(

They do look good... I shall have a box to see how they fit with the Foundry WoTGs, and for their conversion potential.

I think this is the best option to replace the sandal, I did it with my WGF Numidians and the result is fantastic. It adds to the miniature a barbarian look and its historical accurate.
Just sculpt the "furry shoe" instead of the sandal. Itīs one of the easiest things to do with green stuff, no tools required, just your usual modeling knife.

For me for late Mercenary Hoplites as Phyrus campaign in Peloponnese.

No beards because (I surmise) they're intended (and clearly equipped) as late Hellenistic. Beards were hardly universal in the period - clean-shaven was the new fashion.
A little green stuff and - voila! - beards. They're much more useful this way.
Agreed that the slinger looks awful. Positively awful.
