As it says on the tin. What Post-1985 Figures would you like to see produced?
Current suggestions, as offered;
20mm
Modern African Peacekeeping Forces (Juergen C. Olk). - I'm sure there will be more suggestions for this, so these will be added presently as a group block to make things a bit more visible.
28mm
Modern African Peacekeepers (Earther/Rob Bresnen).
Generic African Troops/Militia (Earther/Rob Bresnen).
Tuareg/ADC Militia (Von Lucky).
News Teams, Interpreters, Aid Workers etc. (Von Lucky & Arlequín).
Brazilian BOPE 'Elite Squad' Type Figures. (Von Lucky).
Brazilian 'Favela' Civilians. (Von Lucky).
Criminal Personalities i.e. Mark Moran and family, Fat Tony (D'Amico? ;) ), Carl Williams and 'Chopper' Read etc. (Von Lucky).
'80s BRD Bundesgrenzschutz (Von Lucky).
'80s DDR Grenztruppen (Von Lucky).
Generic Private Military Contractors (Maspalio).
'Punk' Gang Members (Maspalio).
European 'Militia' and Paramilitaries (Maspalio).
Russian Federation Troops - 2000+ (Commissarmoody).
Israeli Troops - 2000+ (Commissarmoody).
U.S. Army Rangers - 2000+ (Commissarmoody).
Hezbollah/Middle Eastern Paramilitaries - 2000+ (Commissarmoody).
Finnish Troops - 2000+ (Pocoloco).
Danish Troops - 2000+ (Pocoloco).
Spanish Troops - 2000+ (Pocoloco).
Estonian Troops - 2000+ (Pocoloco).
1/48th Scale (40mm)
Russians, Georgians, Chechens and Militia (V_Lazy_Dragon).
Okay, if I have got the titles wrong on the poll, let me know and I can change them if needed, but I cannot change the order they are in. Anything else will have to be added at the bottom.

Some suggestions on TMP here
http://theminiaturespage.com/boards/msg.mv?id=333588
- Generic rebel and government troops for Middle East conflicts are hard to find. There are a few (Newline) but they often out of stock and hence it is difficult to make up viable platoons.
- Modern African Troops – both regular and rebel types. Some packs with US weapons and others with Soviet weapons.
- North Koreans
- Somali Pirates
- Modern Russians (Empress plan these for a Kickstarter to launch late 2014)
- Pakistani infantry, officers, and support teams
-
What a mix!
Does anyone already make modern warzone reporters/film crew or interpreters or aid workers 28mm?
Because I really would like to add some.
-
Modern 28mm Vietnamese (VPA) for South China Sea 'what if?' conflicts, particularly with the new Empress PLA in mind as it would open up different options for settings.
-
Or/and some Pacific island militia/rebels? I thought Empress would have gone for those in their KS personally, but I suppose there is only so much you can do at any one time.
:)

Yes! Those would be very useful too.

I like the idea of Brazilian BOPE and the Favella gangsters, although I would want a max Payne miniture or two to go along with it.
-
Some more suggestions:
-Modern South American armies: Brazil, Colombia, Venezuela.
-Modern South American guerrillas, Drug cartel gunmen.
-US ethnic street gangs
something like this:

(and also triads and black gangs)
-
To be honest Narco Wars are one of the few scenarios for the Post-'85 world I've considered gaming.

Not sure why though...

lol Shame we don't have 'Open Talk' any more, we could start a thread about 'sounds you don't like to hear'. ;)

something like this:
I could go for some FARC/ETA action vs Colombian Military, and Jungla commandos.
They would go pretty good with the CIA operators Specter is making.
-
Another suggestion is US militia.
-
Which reminds me of my all time favourite drag queen name.... 'Blanche Davidian'.
You can probably cobble together US militias/ white supremacist nutjobs/ gun freak survivalists/ armed millennialists and tea party members from the almost endless array of zombie survivors. WF, Hasslefree, Lead Adventure etc, etc, etc.
The Dadi & Piombi modern Italians make reasonable proxies for Colombians. The rifles are easily converted to Galils by filing back the carry handle. Their SF really need Tavor armed figures but M-4 carbine armed figures will do.
Venezuelans can be proxied by using the TAG Special forces with AK-47 from their Vietnam range. Just paint the AK black. Add a muzzle compensator if you are really fussy.
FARC, ELN and the various Central American guerrilla groups from the 1980s really want some figures with rubber boots. A couple of those Spectre minis would probably work. Mix them in with the TAG US Green berets and you are well on your way.
Brazil is a bit trickier. The Eureka Force Recon aren't bad for SF, especially the Toneleros. A few too many optical sights but otherwise. Brazil is currently in the process of replacing the FN FAL so nothing recommends itself just yet. If you want big figures, the Black Scorpion marines will work for their Brazilian counterparts, the Fuzileiros Navais. Which reminds me, my wife's favourite cousin is married to a former fuzileiro and I promised to paint him a mini.
Nice to have specific minis but in the absence thereof a few ideas.
-
New look Brazilian Army.
-
Consider them added. To be honest I find the idea of 'Michigan Militia' types quite attractive (in a miniatures sense). It's true that you can use the various 'survivor' type figures around for those favouring a more civilian appearance, but there is definitely a niche to be filled in 'military' types with less than military figures.

I'd buy some. :)
-
I would like to see mma and Muay Thai fighters.
-
Exactly! How I am going to do "Red Dawn" or "Shattered Union" style games with out a motley collection of rural militia?
-
I want to see these added to the Empress PLA Line.

Along with some RPGs and MMGs :D
-
Stop it. You'll start a flame war. :D

BURNED!! ;D
-
In a disco inferno....guilty as charged. :)
-
I am almost tempted to post up the "Trogdor the Burnanater!" video.
-
I'm sure no one's going to rise like a phoenix after being attacked by them.

I have another suggestion.
Irish Army in 28mm.

You mean leprechauns?

You mean leprechauns?
Now that's just mean. lol
I am thinking in the mean time, the current modern Australians might work for in a pinch.
I personally an getting tired of waiting for some one to come out with 2000+ IDF and ordered a section of empress British Squaddies. And I am going to see about adding some Mitznefet helmet covers with a few other items and see how it works out.

Without looking into it too deeply I suspect the Skirmish Sangin Australians/Kiwis would probably work or at least make decent proxies as they have the older style Steyr/ F88. BTW the old Eureka ( Kriegspiel) Australians for Timor make good Malaysian proxies and they have the advantage of being smaller in stature, like the real item.
Diversity is a good thing but I can't see much of a market for the Irish Army. Save for being occasionally shelled by the Israelis in Lebanon and ambushed in the Congo back in the 1960s they've done sod all since independence. File alongside Switzerland and Luxembourg.

The Irish actually get about a bit... their 'recent' postings within the UN include; Central America, Russia, the former Yugoslavia, Cambodia, Lebanon, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kuwait, Namibia, Western Sahara, Liberia and East Timor.
Someone more knowledgeable might prove me wrong, but I also think Steyr-equipped Aussie/Kiwi figures will do the trick... for me they would anyway.
:)

As my father was fond of saying, they also serve, those who only stand and wait.
I think it was a detachment of their Rangers in Timor Leste, I suspect that for the most of the rest they supplied observers. Vital work, it's true but probably not the best basis for a range of dedicated minis.
-
I always find it ironic that the main activity of the DF is peacekeeping, when all my family do anything but. Maybe there's an exam to get in.

Apparently the old M-47s, M-48s, and M60s are stilling going strong in Iran, And they are using them to fight against ISL/ISIS..etc
