Post by: The Gray Ghost on April 08, 2014, 10:11:18 PM
has anyone bought from them?
do they have an online store? I found a site but after going through page after page after page after page after page after page after page after page after page I decided to stop and ask for directions.

Ian used to sell the "28mm" Kendo range figures direct at UK game shows, they are great sculpts but absolutely massive (the horses make the GW plastics look small). I have some of the character figures.

Now I think the NewboldWorld thing is only there as an ongoing vanity site, as far as I am aware he is no longer trading in the figures. It is well worth viewing though, the collection of painted figures he owns is incredible, the newsletter is also good, especially if you are interested in "art" figures rather than wargaming stuff, some amazing talent gets showcased.

About all I can suggest is to hunt the site (or go to the domain name registry) for a contact email and drop him a line, very approachable guy.

I have order minis from Newbold several years ago. If I recall, not all of the miniatures are kept in stock at any given time. Ian will get some of the ranges cast and let the some of the stock dwindle down to nothing and then when he get enough $ from the current sales, He will cast other ranges of minis. I do not think he makes money with this endeavor, but loves minis and sharing with others. I believe that some of the sales goes toward charities. Ian is a great guy and the communication was fantastic. I order the Bob Olley scifi trolls and they are gems in my collection of painted minis. I feel lucky to get the trolls.

Your mileage may vary, but for me, overall a pleasant experience.

Yep, Newbold's was not a regular shop at any time I've known about it. They'd have a rotating stock of a few miniatures available per month (presumably in very limited quantities) with proceeds reputedly going to charity. I have a set of three space pirate womyn (or something) from them, bought some years back. They are very nice miniatures, rather close to "real 28mm scale" and sculpted by Bob Naismith. But it was indeed almost down to luck that I got them, which partially explains why I haven't been at their site for years.
