Pictures from the martian game at Salute played on Jimbibbly's superb table.
Entitled Last Train to New Victoria, the game was based on a scenario of Sky Martians trying to capture a train carrying a defecting Martian Prince to New Victoria. Run by Malamute, Bullshot and Dr De'Ath, we only managed to get through three turns but had a cracking day out. Spoke to lots of gamers most of whom were very complimentary about the terrain and Fezzes.
And now, the photos:
Jimbibbly and Bullshott set up while Malamute considers the possibility he may be slightly overdressed for the occasion

The infamous backdrop, very popular with the photographers, less popular with those of us who kept holding it up

But as they enter the final straight Lady Hump's man, Gok Wik, bursts past Mi-Ti Sloh pulling the Reverend's rickshaw to claim the trophy.

Members of the Illustrated London News, accompanied by Allan Quatermain and Lord Belborough witness the unprovoked attack on the Prince of Wales's regiment led by Captain Sebastian Soft-Love. The martians were later identified and being from the Raas-Taa-Farri clan. This clan is unique in the Sky Martian world in that is owns no skiffs, rumour has it that their fleet was sold to pay the gambling debts of their chief Uun-Luu-Kee.

The Raas-Taa-Farri clan's attack on the Prince of Wales's regiment is savage in the extreme, The regiment fought a valiant last stand and Captain Soft-Love has been reported MIA.

"The crew of the 'Lady Lou' were forced to remain neutral in the fight and resist the temptation to intervene and support the Earthers. To do so would have jeopardised their fragile trade agreements with the Martians". This was the statement issued by the GMPTC chairman after the battle. It had nothing to do with them being 'Bleeding cowardly pirates" as was suggested by some members of the community.

And a final picture just to prove our Malamute wasn't the only overdressed wargamer at Salute 2014. Not sure who the chap in the photo is, but when he turned up dressed like another waiter we lent him a Fez and took his photo.

Are the miniatures in the skiffs on magnetized bases?
No, they're on 25mm perspex basis. We've had a few fall off but no breakages so far :)
-
Not sure who the chap in the photo is, but when he turned up dressed like another waiter we lent him a Fez and took his photo.
That would be Steve, who ran the Empire of the Dead game. He's a sidekick of Thunderchicken, who obviously had alternate obligations on Saturday and couldn't make it.
-
Fantastic table and figures! :-*
-
Best table of the show! Great photos as well Mark!

Nah, to be fair the one that got it (the big d-day one) deserved it.

Hats off, this is played fairly...
I know a few people who could learn from this attitude of Yours!

Brilliant looking game. Wish I were on that side of the pond...
I like those Martians especially, who makes them?

Which reminds me that I must get around to sorting out mine soon.....

The Great Martian Trading Company are NOT pirates!
True, but I thought they were the ones doing the pirating? ;)
Out of this world! (pun intented)
:-*
Brings up a rather embarrassing point: I didn't get all the puns. Anyone care to fire me an explanatory PM? I'm sure most will be NSFW....
Okay, I whined earlier, asking for piccies. The already-mentioned cross-briny envy reminds us of 'be careful of what you wish for...'
Cor, just stunning! Thanks!

Yep and I am shortly to be working on some Martian Askaris who will be up for sale in the not too distant future.

It looked superb on the day but I had about 30 seconds to view it so many thanks for the pictures, I shall drool over these in the privacy of my own lair.
-
I've added a video of the table and terrain, quality isn't great due to the lighting but it gives you a good impression of the table and overall layout of the game. (opens in another window so you may need to disable pop-up blockers)
