Recently decided to stop buying figures and starting new projects until I paint/finish one or two of the scary amount of unfinished stuff I have been finding in the garage.
This one is made from a GW Tau troop carrier and a Star Trek DS9 runabout. I have tried to keep the look of both the original styles and it is probably about 90% finished. I need to find a couple of drones and some magnets to hold the rear cargo pod in place and there is also a few bits and pieces left in the box that I am sure i can glue on somewhere

Hope you like it so far, I will post more pics when I have got a bit further (and learned to use a camera).

Ace biscuits!!!!! :-*
-
Pretty cool, can we get a rear view?
-
That looks great.
What make/scale is the runabout?
-
Very cool! :-*
-
Really really nice :-* Great melding of two models to get something new.

Really fantastic kit-bash! :o

nicely done but to me I'm afraid the join area (the 'neck') looks totally wrong - from the front the craft slopes upwards, then goes along a bit, then upwards again a little bit, then up again a little bit at a different angle, then it goes up again as it joins the main body. to me it would have looked better trying to smooth out that area and the different heights and angles. aside from that though very nice - and it is just my personal aesthetics not your skills :)

Taurific!

Thanks for comments and criticisms.
Dewbakuk- the original model was a AMT/ERTL DS9 Runabout 'Rio Grande'. I think the scale was 1/72, but it is plenty big enough. Still find them on Ebay. There is a great example in the future wars thread 'the game that never was'
Alien surfer- I see what you mean, I would like to say it,s just the camera angle but it looks even wierder with the cargo bay removed.
first pic with a few 28/30mms for scale

next pic from the rear (aft?) with the tau hatch mounted upside down, I think.

next is the soon to be magnetized separate cargo bay. possibly the reason this project got shelved for a couple of years.

and last a pic of the ship upside down so you can see the underneath so far.

I instantly recognized the separate bits of this, but its still a rather awe inspiring combination!

Thanks, just had a look, cheapest one is £45 currently, the others are £100+ :o

Try Ebay with ,star trek runabout, you might find a few more options. Also, the Orinoco runabout toy looks to be about the same size, maybe a little bigger (and its got opening hatches).

Fantastic build. It looks really good and convincing. I want one too :D
