Title: Scenery-building inspiration needed
Post by: Rhoderic on July 11, 2008, 09:06:16 PM
Right then, I'm back to building some "generically oriental" city scenery for S&S gaming. Been at it all day, the first few buildings are taking shape, and I'm beginning to realize... well, they look horribly dull. Square, flat-roofed boxes. This is perhaps to be expected of adobe houses, but still, they lack that inspired touch. The few obvious ideas I do have (domed roofs, minarets, etc) only go so far and are a bit on the stereotypical side (not that that's bad for S&S, mind you).

So I'm looking for pictures, especially pictures of city/village scenery that other people have built. Anything Middle Eastern, North African, Central Asian or Indian (or even Eastern European). Anytime from Ancients to Colonials and beyond. If it's something that's been posted here on LAF before, even recently, remind me of it anyway. I specifically remember having seen some inspirational scenery here before, I just can't remember what threads they were from.

Basically I'm just looking to give my buildings that realistic, lived-in look, and I'm not above stealing other people's ideas to get there >:D

We're looking for designs too, plus designs for China 1900.

Not much success so far.
