Title: Two Questions - 1866 Hanoverians and 1877 Russo-Turkish War
Post by: TheBlackCrane on May 07, 2014, 11:51:46 AM
Having just acquired the 1866 rules, and in blatant disregard of my resolution to focus on fewer periods, I'm looking at C19th figures, so

Are Pendraken the only company with 10mm Hanoverians out there? I read that these are older sculpts, anyone able to tell me how they rate? Alternatively, how are the Rank and File range Old Glory 15s do?

Similar question for 1877, any experience of the Pendraken 10mm range? Plus since  the range has more scope how do the Rank and File 15mm Russians, Bulgarians, Ottomans etc stack up?

Cheers
Rob

Hi Rob

I asked about Hanoverians for 1864 (they were supposed to be part of the force ejecting the Danes from Schleswig-Holstein) and the knowledgeable folk on the Pendraken forum suggested using Austrian infantry in tunic (kittel) rather than the older Pendraken 'Hanoverian' figures. Careful though, for all I know there may be differences/changes to Hanoverian uniforms post 1864! Cavalry might need to be identified on a unit by unit basis. I think Caliver books have a uniformology book/books on Hanoverians of the period?

Cheers

Thanks, I think I came across that thread or a similar one when I was googling this  :D There are a couple of books I know of with Hanoverian uniforms for 1866, which I'll probably pick up. I'm trying to work out whether I can do it in 10mm, or if the greater range available in 15s is better - certainly Rank and File do Hanoverian Dragoons as well as Hussars. It would be handy if I could find more pictures of figures across the Pendraken C19th range really.

Cheers
