Title: The Wind and the Lion is now on Blu-ray
Post by: fantail on May 08, 2014, 11:30:20 PM
One of my favorites is now out on Blu-Ray. Time to revisit Warflag's Red Shadow page and grab one of Gringo 40's Raisuli figures.

And being a Warner Archive disc, the US BD is almost certainly region-free, which means it can be played on any machine regardless of the country you live in. I'll be able to confirm that in a few days when my own copy comes in courtesy of Amazon.com.

Excellent.  Can't wait to re-see the scene with the US Marines double-timing through the streets to the rousing sound of John Paul Sousa's 'Semper Fidelelis' march.

I take it that a Dutch import would play in the UK?

Might be worth waiting until we buy a Blu-Ray player?? (Just bought our first flat Screen TV  lol. It's a Smart TV too so i'm a bit stumped with all this new gingum techno stuff  lol lol)

Darrell.

It will : The Netherlands and the UK are both part of region 2, which encompasses all of western Europe

Might be worth waiting until we buy a Blu-Ray player??

That would be my recommendation, especially as BD players are dirt cheap these days, and the leap in picture quality is quite spectacular compared to DVD.

I take it the Dutch import you're referring to is the disc linked below :

It certainly is cheap enough but if you love the film and want to see it in the best PQ available, go for the region-free U.S BD :

I picked up Zulu Dawn from the bargain bin in Walmart yesterday for less than $10.  It nicely replaces my well worn UK VHS copy and was cheaper than anywhere I could find online (including Walmart!)

The Warner Archives US Blu-Ray landed in my mailbox today : I can confirm it is region-free and will play on machines world-wide. Excellent transfer too, with a picture quality that is way superior to that of the DVD edition.
