Well, hiya Future Wars board! :P First post of minis here, as I haven't painted anything sci-fi in aaages. Well, cheetor got me all riled up with his Pulp Alley exploits and the Rogue Trader bug is all over the interwebs nowadays it seems... so I ended up painting a space-man. More to come, I'm quite smitten by it. I hope to get some stuff painted up for me as well, to give the project some impetus (and quality).
No more rambling though - here's Paulie Papers, small time space-crook. Also known as C3706c - Civilian Carrying Documents from Metal Magic's old Spacelords range.

You can read words and stuff on my blog:

I'm all excited by this. I might even paint up my first ever Space Marine! :D

very nicely done :) Good to see there's still Paper in the Future lol
-
Nice!
-
Thats a great start :) Very few sci-projects star with an unarmed character I expect. That bodes well in my opinion.
I have had half an idea to paint that miniature as ex-Wally squad Judge Lenny Zero for a few years, but havent got around to it yet.

Thanks chaps! :)

Well, thin sheets of matter to display things on, at least. It could just be a handfull of nano-sheets with a fresh datadump from his wrist terminal. ;) Probably still called papers even if they're nothing like what we call paper.

Yeah, it's odd and I find it a bit amusing to be honest. The next three aren't armed either. Or well, their weaponry is holstered at least. Hope to get them posted in a few days. Have a little left on one of the three, then it's basing and photography time.
Not familiar with Lenny, but there's a definitive 2000AD feel to old Papers. Go for it, man!

Looking good!

The wonders never cease - I've finished three more guys for my scifi game! Three more old Metal Magic Spacelords, to boot!
This is commander Skroob. He's the Imperial Commander and guy in charge of the colony on McKemmler IV. The job isn't exactly exhausing, what with the McKemmler system being in the ass-end of the ass-end of the galaxy. Thus Skroob also doubles as the local chief of police in New Haigts. Here he is, surrounded by ASOLEs - Automated Sentient Officers of Law Enforcement.

A few more pics and waffling on the blog:

Impressive! Which specific colours did you use?
-
White primer.
GW foundation Astronomicon Gray basecoat on fatigues
GW bronzed flesh basecoat on flesh (elf flesh on the ASOLEs, it seemed fitting).
Vallejo black basecoat on the black. =)
Boots and leather details (and hair) on Skroob basecoated w GW beastial brown
Highlighted the blacks w black + a little vallejo white (bone white or whatever it's called... it's skull white)
Lightly overbrushed metals w Vallejo gun metal.
Washed elf flesh with GW sepia wash
Washed bronzed flesh, hair and leather w ogryn flesh on Skroob.
Washed fatigues, metals and blacks with GW badab black.
Then highlighted everything with their base coat colour thinned a bit.
Highlighted again with basecoat colour + white.
Finally, I painted the black armour and boots with liquitex gloss varnish.
Then it's job done. =) I faffed about a bit more with skroob's hair washing it with devlan mud after highlighting it (a bit lighter). Also worth noting I didnt' shade the cape of Skroob's with a wash as I was going for more white than grey.

Missed this thread. Great work! Do you still play the game??

Never did. These will be used for Pulp Alley, hopefully.

Lovely work. :D
-
Nice retro RT feel to the paint colours.... they work well...
-
Great colour scheme!!! :o
-
Cheers chaps! More are in the works, and then it's time for a 2000AD guest star in this thread. =)

Yet an addition. This time, it's a Spacelords C3064b - Cybertech S.E.C.S Troop with heavy laser, giving cover.

He's the captain of a ship for hire, not averse to doing the odd bit of smuggling or piracy. More background for the character over at my blog:

Lovely. :)

SECSy! :D
-
Thanks. =)

And another, to celebrate Doug's work putting these back in production. We're having a veritable Spacelords festival here. =) It's a new addition to the ship's crew lead by Captain Morley above - co-pilot Stickney. He comes armed with an inconspicuous and discrete sidearm.

It's still a Spacelords, Cybertech S.E.C.S trooper, pretty much the same as Morley but with a slightly larger gun and another hair cut.

Pure win. :)

The crew of the Chaste Magpie are reaching playable mass by Pulp Alley standards with this recent addition of clones bred for combat; Karl Wagoner and Jonn'es Cuera.

They were a combination of a pain in the ass and fun to paint. Once I came to terms with the fact that I couldn't get the greeblied up suits as tidy as I wanted to I stopped sweating it and just slapped on some white. It turned out ok, but it's far from display standard. I'm growing tired of this disclaimer, but I'm consciously limiting the time I put in on models for this project as I need stuff painted to game with. That means fewer colours used, fewer levels of highlighting (base coat, wash, base coat and final highlight) and fewer hours spent touching up. It's just not worth it.
It also seems I haven't posted the last few previous dudes here. They're not Spacelords, but they're used in the same project. I'll probably start throwing in some 2000AD figs from Foundry soon (the towering giants that they are) and when the new year is here I can finally start painting Citadel miniatures again. (Don't ask ::))

Tiny little platypus model from Mega Miniatures.
Snitch and Bubba (astro badger)
Repainted prepaint plastics (one from Star Wars and the other from D&D)
The whole happy crew of the Chaste Magpie line up for a shot. Snitch is not a crew member, so he's not in it.

No scurv, they're not out yet. Mine are old hobby products casts.

I really like the way you've put this league together. Looks like it will be lots of fun.
Do you have a Pulp Alley roster for the crew of the Chaste Magpie that you could share?
Have fun!
Dave
