Title: CHAPTER 3, EPISODE 3 : Dust In the Crypt : Part 2
Post by: Alfrik on May 20, 2014, 01:31:02 AM
Searching the remains of the giant mummy yields no clues on the Sigil trail they are pursuing. The wounded are taken care of as they mount up in the trucks and continue on their western trek to the third possible ruins.

Arriving in the vicinity of the ruins they find a truck already there, empty….. with foot prints leading into the ruins. At the stub of a fallen tower are stairs down into the darkness. Flashlights are passed around, gun loads checked and Bob leads then down.

A large cavern eats the beams of the flashlights with its great depth. What could possibly await them in the dusty expanse? Reaching the bottom of the stairs they ready for action amongst the silence that fills the cavern.

Slowly making their way forward they dispatch some large voracious lizards that strike at them.

“Odd, these usually are only found outdoors, not underground” offered Lily.
“Everyone keep alert!” ordered Bob

Then, ahead, in the wavering beams of the flashlights, 4 stone columns appear…. Along with three dancing and chanting cultists!

“Take them Out!” yells Bob and the team opens up in near unison (having initative control helps at times!) As the fire tappers off, the 3 cultists chant no more, their blood quickly pooling between the columns….. as a new single female voice takes up a similar sounding chant! Is that… Yes! It’s the evil known as Sister Painful!

The area between the columns is filled with a diffuse glow and figures are seen coalescing. Then the first of the Servitors emerges, to the astonishment of the Team!

The team recoils slightly then decides to stand their ground and opens fire again, and again.. as wave after wave of Servitors shuffle out of the portal.

Sister Painful tries to open fire on them with her sub machinegun but finds she’s Out Of Ammo! But with the end of the turn she throws a gas grenade and escapes further back out of line of sight of the Team.

Sarge rushes up and chucks a grenade into the columns, taking down many of the creatures, several of which slowly arise from the ground and continue their advance on the Team, an advance that changes to a faster rate of movement as Sister Painful starts a different Chant that changes the demeanor of the Servitors, who to that point had been trying to dodge the barrage of bullets, to becoming very aggressive!

“Fall Back” shouts Bob, “We’re done here!” and step by step they retreat with a steady stream of fire, but here and there a gun falls silent as they expend their last clips of ammo.

Scrambling up the stairs they search for a way to seal the doorway, finally settling to collapsing a piece of wall over it with the abandoned truck… a very temporary barricade.

“Torch their truck! And mount up!” Bob yells and is quickly obeyed. Everyone mounts up and the trucks speed back east, knowing that the Thule Society has managed to summon the Servitor Race to what unknown perils to come.

Rules are Pulp Alley. I find them to be very flexible in use :)

Another great AAR.

Truly inspiring, and catapulting the story to the next chapter.

Rules are Pulp Alley. I find them to be very flexible in use :)

Pulp Alley are by far my favorite skirmish rules these days.

Higly reccommended.

Thanks for sharing.
