Played a Robin Hood game on Tuesday at Malamute Towers, Jimbibbly is writing the AAR which he'll add here soonTM. Until then here's a few pictures.
Scenario was pretty simple, Some mercenary knights (Malamute) were to spring Max of Clifford who was under house arrest while the Sheriff and Gisbourne (Jimbibbly) were out to tai Max to Nottingham jail. Robin Hood was to rescue Maid Marian who was also being held at Clifford Hall. Homebrew rules as per the recent Red Planet Adventure VSF threads.
NOTE: Bibbles may need a bit of encouragement to post his pictures and the AAR, so please feel free to PM him or post here and tell him to get on with it! :)

Glad to see i'm not the only one who repurposed bertrand the brigand as a robin hood :D
Oh, and where's that AAR? :P
-
Come on! Come on! Where's that bloody AAR? ;D
How do we know how long Robin spent hiding in the shubberies this time round?

Not wanting to steal any thunder from James' imminent AAR, but Robin wasn't in the Shrubberies this time round, he was in the thick of the fighting and narrowly escaped with his life.
-
That'll teach him. Far safer in the shubberies of Nottinghamshire. ;)

Robin Hood Adventures
A Dr De'Ath production (even though the lazy arse couldn't be bothered to do the report properly).
Staring Malamute as Sir Ronnie De Corbett and Jimbibbly as the Sheriff of Nottingham (I'm the King!)
Max of Clifford 'resides' at his home, Clifford Towers, awaiting for the Sheriff (I'm the King!) to escort him to a better residence; namely, Nottingham Castle! Held captive waiting with him is his ward, the lovely Maid Harold (note the 9 o'clock shadow)

But what's this? A band of roaming knights led by Ronnie De Corbett has snuck into Clifford Towers for some nefarious reason.
Unbeknownst to our good Sheriff they are there to help spring Max and take him away to safety.

The Sheriff dispatches Guy of Guisbourne who splits his command into two to get Max whilst he sees an old adversary in the distance (hiding in the woods... What a surprise).

Unfortunately the roaming knights are far too much for Guy's first little band and they are beaten to a man (apart from Guy, who runs away lives to fight another day)

The Sheriff and his men have a quick shoot out with Robin (who is still hiding in the woods)

Meanwhile, Guy's other group charges Robin (who actually came out of the woods), take a couple of hits but defeats Robin in heroic combat!

Unfortunately for the Sheriff a party of woodsmen, who were also hiding in the woods, join up with Robin and outnumber the brave Sheriff and his band causing them to leave Max and Ronnie to escape to freedom...

Tune in next time for the dareing feats of derring do with Robin, Guy, Max (boooo) and the Sheriff (I'm the King!).
cheers
James

Robin the brave, he ran away, he buggered off... ;)
Brilliant AAR! But when will Max have his day in court?

We played the Brave Sir Robin song during the game :D
As to Max, only the media time will tell ;)

Max is innocent!
How could anyone believe the word of his cross dressing ward Maid Harold anyway?
Apparently Max promised he'd introduce her to the real King. That's what they're saying in Nottingham...
-
Nice report; thanks for posting.
-
Maid Harold is a dead cert for the Nottinghamshire Song Contest, I hear.
The game looks absolutely marvellous.

Robin didn't run away, I think you'll find he made a tactical withdrawal in order to regroup with Little John and Tuck so they could re-evaluate their options.
As to Max's day in court, we'll that depends on whether The Sheriff can apprehend Ronnie de Corbett and the fugitive Max before he reaches the coast. More of which in another report soon(TM)

But what about these home brew rules? Are we going to see them? The game looks very WH skirmish style ala LOTHS or LOTOW if I'm not mistooken.
Been collecting figures suited to this period for skirmishging, would love to see how the game goes from this far away colonial remnant. ;)
-
Great looking terrain and a fun scenario.

Bloody loverly.
-
Bloody brilliant, chaps, as usual.
:-* :-*
Shame about the tardiness of the timing, though, it took a while to reach us.
Pull ya finger out, Bibbles.
;D ;D ;D

Never trust a man in tights.

What a marvelous looking game - really seems to capture the Medieval feel so spot on. To reiterate comments above though - What rules? If home grown is it possible to let other get grubby paws on them?

The only house rule seem to be that Robin HAS to hide in the trees, shoot a bit and then RUN AWAY.....
:D

Thanks for the positive comments chaps :)
Rules will be available for a download PDF at some point (probably :) ).
cheers

All looks terribly familiar ;)
I particularly like the shot of the kniggets in the herb garden.

The rules (Little Lead Adventures) will definitely be available once I've got them all down on paper in a way that can be read and made sense of. At the moment they are a few sheets of tables and stats and some explanations, enough for Nick, James and me to play games with; quite a bit of it is still just in my head. Nick and James are also adding to them by questioning my reasoning and suggesting extra content.
The rules have come about primarily because I'm too old to keep learning and re-learning different rules for different periods; also because I think the flavour of a period is captured more by the scenario and objectives than by the rules used. The fact that Nick and James make me learn the rules and run the games also had something to do with it :D
The goal is to have a core set of easily learned mechanisms for resolving things like movement, combat, moral, character traits etc., and then use specific weapon/troop quality variables and event cards to get the period feel. They'll be suitable for a quick fun game with 10 - 50 figures a side/player to be fought to conclusion in a reasonable time.
It is our intention to offer them for free in return for a small donation to the upkeep of the LAF for those that like and use them, like 'shareware' war-games rules. If all goes well they should be available for testing in a few months time.

Nice report!
