Title: Fabric flags
Post by: Dr. The Viking on May 29, 2014, 11:31:41 AM
Hi there,

I know it is common in ship modelling to use flags made from fabric/cloth. But I haven't seen it used with 28 mm miniatures.

Does anyone know if some are produced? I'm specifically looking for flags for Texas War of Independence / Revolution.

I don't know any commercial products, though I did see one modeler who hand-painted flags onto the "cloth/paper" that tea bags are made from. They got painted with water-thin CA glue to stiffen them afterwards - gorgeous but, I think, better for dioramas than gaming...

I am sure I remember seeing Dalauppror make flags out of fabric for his knights on the medieval board.

I have never seen any commercially available though. :?

I know there's 1 guy who has a stand at Salute (and other conventions),  problem is I don't know the name of his company as I'm not into flags...
I'll have a quick look in the Salute Show Guide.

Solway used to, but I'm not sure if they do any more.

Could only find the Flagdude, but that seems to be paper only.
http://www.maverick-models.com/flags.htm (http://www.maverick-models.com/flags.htm) has fabric flags, but apparently no Texas war...
