Very nice looking game and good to see the Republicans getting a win for a change. How did you get on with BA for SCW?

OK, although we used the rules straight from the tin for this game, so no particular SCW flavour. I will probably add some event cards for future games like I have for the Great War but with a SCW slant. For a more "historical" game, Chain of Command may be the way to go. Check out Arlequin s blog for an excellent post on adapting BA for SCW.
-
Thanks, your cheque's in the post. ;)
As always though a great looking game! 8)
Despite my championing CoC for SCW, I still have some love to share for BA, especially if you see it as an abstract game and think of your 'squads' as being platoons (or half platoons in the case of SCW)... a bit like how Rapid Fire and Cross Fire work. That way the expandable unit sizes, 40K weapon ranges and all the rest makes far more sense.

The other option available of course is to use the Chain of Command army lists and create units based solely on those historical organisations. That way you will at least have the force sizes and leader allocations in the right proportions....so you can enjoy BA with complete army lists that match the game which is more or less pitched at a similar scale.

Well that's saved me a blog post or two... cheers mate! lol
But Yes... the plan is was to produce BA lists that roughly conformed to the same numbers as the 1:1 CoC ones, so no figures are left in the boxes if you play both.
For the megalomaniacs out there, you could play platoon games with CoC, and larger representative actions with BA... horses for courses and all that.

...you've got more important things to attend to ;)

Ever thought of using the Skirmish VBCW rules?
"Went the day well?" has a far more GW 'legends/Great War' feel to the mechanics and weapon ranges are actually quite short/realistic.
It also allows for many factions to fight at the same time, and its time setting/weapons etc are the same as SCW.
Not a bad little rules set, and at £8, worth every penny!

Ever thought of using the Skirmish VBCW rules?
I suspect we'd struggle to play Bolt Action games with them, which is the topic... ;)
Seriously though, I'm sure they are fine, or possibly even great, as are probably the ones 'Empress Paul' did for Osprey.
It's more a case of "we like these rules" & "we like this period" and we want to combine them. Actually buying another set of rules that might work better is a bit like cheating.

:)
Priceless!
lol

I see it as being like the old distinction between 'gentlemen' and 'players' in a fashion. You can of course 'buy' the correct rule set for what you want to play, or you can use the existing one purely for the love of the game.
;)
Now who's up for a medieval conversion of my favourite rule set I'm calling "Chainmail of Command". :D
-
I have the Zombie hunting variant: Chainsaw of Command
-
I have the Prohibition Version: Chain-gang of Command
-
lol
Maybe we should ask Rich to give a prize for the most ridiculous application. ;)
However, this is not that thread, apologies to Phil for taking it off topic. :-I

Sorry, Phil, can I leave you with the new logistics game, Supply Chain of Command? ;D

Sad I know, but I have the information to hand to do the SCW lists for that one too... lol

There are also versions promised for TV serials:
CSI Custody Chain of Command
Mr Selfridge Supermarket Chain of Command
Prison Break Ball and Chain of Command
-
Slow day John?

At my age that's the best I can manage. >:(
Looking forward to the pasties? lol
-
To slightly derail this again :), The counter attack that will take place in a few weeks, just painting up some reinforcements, will be fought using Rapid Fire, with Mark Hannam's SCW supplement, Rompan el Fuego!
Not sure if it is still available.
-
CSI Custody Chain of Command
Chain of Evidence surely? ;)
To slightly derail this again :)
It's your thread, so you can do what you like. :)

Looking forward to the pasties? lol
Indeed I am! And the cream teas! And the crab salads! And a pint or six!
-
Forward these rules on to five other people or you will be buggered by rabid goats. Yes, it's the Chain Letter of Commend.
-
Ah! That's what Chain of Cthulhu was based on... ;)
