Title: British Commandos
Post by: Mr.J on June 04, 2014, 09:28:46 PM
I've begun to realise that for the all the time I spend on here giving opinions, advice etc. I very very rarely post anything that I have produced myself.

I bought these at Vapnartak in February and they sat basically unloved until about 2 weeks ago when I decided to paint them for a WWII game that my Dad and brother had planned.

Here goes:

These are some pretty quick paint jobs to get them on the table and the photos are pretty questionable, point and click from my phone but they give you an idea of what I've been up to. I have a few more regular British infantry painted and ready to be based so if my moment stays up and I keep on track of the few projects that I'm working on hopefully you'll see some more minis in the near future.

Comments and criticism more than welcome.

Wow, very very good for a quick paintjob!
I love the bases too.
The unshaven dude is ace  8)
The BDs look a bit too much on the brown side to me, I'd prefer it more khaki drab-ish myself.
But there were so many shades that it ultimately comes down to personal preference..

Looking forward to seeing the regulars

Cheers

Thanks guys! I went with Vallejo British Uniform which might be a tad dark but like you said there was so much variation that it works fine for me, plus its easy. They also look slightly darker than in real life. The 5 o-clock shadow is mainly there to disguise the fact that I wasn't happy with my flesh on several of the faces so it was an easy way to hide that and I am very pleased with the result.

The commandos are all Foundry Perry sculpts the MG is Artizan, Perry a slightly smaller but honestly there is so little in that you have to look really closely to tell, especially with such animated poses.

Uniforms be damned, the worst thing about them is they were a lot harder to kill than the Maquis. Very almost lost that game as a consequence!

The uniforms look lighter in person and the faces look less out of focus  lol Hate that these are a "quick paint job" too. Would take me ages!
