I am building a Stark (Game of Thrones) SAGA army
First up is a unit of Warriors :
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/WarriorsStark.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/WarriorsStark.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Banner.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Banner.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Warrior1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Warrior1.jpg.html)
The banner and the shields are hand painted .
I have started on another unit of Levys Pictures are to follow here shortly
-
GOTta love that banner and those shields.
:-* :-* :-*
-
Very nice Tom.
Like the parti-coloured shields.
I voted for them! :)
-
Really nice work Tom 8) 8) 8)
Darrell.
-
Very effective. Are those Fireforge plastics?
-
Excellent banner
-
Very nice mate!!! :D
-
Spectacular work on the figs and banner.
-
Yes they are fire forge figures . For the next Levy unit I used the dark age warriors set from gripping beast with the occasional fire forge head pictures will follow.
-
Another Picture of the Blond warrior:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior1a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior1a.jpg.html)
-
These look great!
I reckon we'll be seeing way more Westerosi armies when the Perry box is released...
-
think so too ;)
-
This is great! You should check the Fantasy adventures on here, there are some more GoT threads there (for example my own :D)
-
already did that LordOdo! very inspirational indeed
-
Here is another close up of a warrior:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior2.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior2a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior2a.jpg.html)
again the shield is painted no decal
-
You're a fantastic painter! It's also a good thing you go for your own look, instead of the common HBO one.
How did you do the snow?
-
The snow is done by mixing backing soda with white wood glue to a very high consistency ( like toothpaste)
and applying that with a spatula . I sprinkle a bit backing soda on top of that looks like fresh snow then .
Hope that helps!?
-
The banners, shields, and snow are really great.
-
Starks rock.
-
Thank for the comments more pictures soon
-
Another warrior this time with a different Shield design:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior3a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior3a.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior3.jpg.html)
I always draw the design on paper first as that is more easy for me to do . Here the paper was to small for the shield >:(
-
Really good looking!
-
What no unsullied... o_o o_o
-
Marcusius they will have to wait a bit longer as there are first the Starks then the Lanisters and the rest of the Westeros houses ;)
-
and another warrior:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior4.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior4.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior4a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior4a.jpg.html)
hope this is still interesting!
-
Yes. Keep them coming Tom :)
-
Took some time ( real life took over) to get some more photos:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior5a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior5a.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior5.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior5.jpg.html)
-
and the last warrior only pictures of Banner bearer and officer missing
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior6.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior6.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/warrior6a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/warrior6a.jpg.html)
-
Quite a collection taking shape...
-
I will soon have started a unit of Levys for my Stark army so watch this space
-
Got to love the shields.
They are super.
-
And the Knight leading the warrior unit again with a hand painted shield:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/officer.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/officer.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/officer2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/officer2.jpg.html)
hope you like him
-
That's a great figure.
-
thanks
-
Nice one. :) Characterful.
-
Here is a picture of the banner bearer. He is the last one in this unit.
There will be more pictures first of a levy unit and then followed by Rob Stark himself with his Wolf as horseman and on foot ( he is of course the warlord of this SAGA army) . Then there is a unit of hearth guards (on horseback) and another unit of warriors also on horseback. so a lot to paint the plastic is glued already and a bit greenstuff was also already added so watch this space!

(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/bannerbearer.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/bannerbearer.jpg.html)
-
Today I show you the first levy figure of my 12 man SAGA Levy unit for my Stark army.
I did a head swap on this figure. Body is from the GB dark age warriors box the head is from a fire forge sergeants box. They fit quite nicely without much greenstuff.
Hope you like him
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy1a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy1a.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/levy1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/levy1.jpg.html)
-
The little patches of snow are incredibly effective.
-
I wanted to have a believable cold look to the figures as they are from up north in Westeros. That is also the reason for minimizing the paint palette to the Stark colors ( grey/white )and some muted brown colors.
here is another one again a head swap like the last one:(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy2.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy2a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy2a.jpg.html)
-
Here is another levy this time GB dark age warrior box only:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy3a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy3a.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy3.jpg.html)
I will be without internet for the next three weeks ( holidays) so more pictures then !
-
I'll iss the updates.. >:( :'(
The Levy's turned out great!
-
These are great! We all look forward to your return to internet access ;)
-
Won't take much longer now
-
As I promised here are a few more pictures of my Levys :(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy4.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy4.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy4a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy4a.jpg.html)
hope you like
-
And another levy :
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy5a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy5a.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy5.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy5.jpg.html)
-
Still the Starks come 8)
-
yes they do and will for a wile , there are another two units on horseback to come and of course the leader of the pack Robb Stark. here is another one:(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy6a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy6a.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy6.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy6.jpg.html)
-
Here is Number 7 of the 12 Levys in the unit:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy7a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy7a.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy7.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy7.jpg.html)
-
Looking very nice :-*
Just little bit nitpicking now, snow looks good but from a Finnish Winter Funland point of view the bases look bit like spring is coming or a sudden hail storm with snow has hit the ground during summer ;)
Oh and just as a general note, quite seldom winter themed figures are seen wearing gloves, did you thought about painting some on some of the minis?
-
Hi Pocoloco
Thanks for the input.
No haven`t thought about gloves jet but will on the next minis to be painted . That will be another warrior unit and a hearthguard unit. The bases were done with the same flocking material I use for my terrain tiles to get the figures working with them so it looks a bit more like winter is going then coming ;) I know .
The next batch of figures will be the Lanisters and there the same flocking (without snow!) will be used. When I come around to do the Dornish It will look more like a desert on the bases.
-
Number 8:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy8a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy8a.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy8.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy8.jpg.html)
-
Looking good, bit richer man, judging by the decorative patterns on his clothes. Will you be using a movement tray of some sorts for the unit?
-
No not realy as they will be used for SAGA so figures stay as individuals . But sure a movementtray with a bit snow on it would look nice ;)a
-
And No 9 here we go:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy9.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy9.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy9a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy9a.jpg.html)
another one and the banner bearer and officer then the unit is done!
Just started on my version of Robb Stark (on foot and on horseback) and his dire wolf!
-
I must make a figure using that head. The hat's so silly, I like it ;)
(Ser Dontos maybe... :))
-
It really is it looks more like a bandage then a hat in this colour o_o
-
And No 10 only the banner bearer and the officer missing
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy10.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy10.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levy10a.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levy10a.jpg.html)
-
Steady progress! :)
-
And here is the banner bearer of the Levy unit. This completes the unit , the officer will be shown later as he is in a painting comp. on another forum .
Next up Robb Stark and his dire wolf(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/levybanner1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/levybanner1.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/levybanner3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/levybanner3.jpg.html)
-
Fine work on the standard bearer! 8)
-
Nice set of banners you've got now :o
-
Here is the complete Levy unit:(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levygesamt2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levygesamt2.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Levygesamt1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Levygesamt1.jpg.html)
-
They look good.
-
and I have seen yours in MS&S !!! They are fantastic especially the Dotraki figure and your Eddard Stark figure!
-
Very fine unit 8)
What next, some heavy hitters? Cavalry perhaps?
-
Next up is my Warloard Robb Stark and his dire wolf then a unit of Hearthguards ( the personal bodyguard of the warlord ( heavy hitters ;))!
-
As promised here is my Robb Stark figure. He is a conversion from different plastic parts, Fireforge body, cloak and sword Perry arms and a Gripping beast head . The shield is freehand and the sword was treated with a blueish wash to make it look "colder".
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Robbfuss1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Robbfuss1.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/Robbfuss2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/Robbfuss2.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/robbfuss3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/robbfuss3.jpg.html)
Next picture is a comparison shot with a Robb Stark figure I did a year ago . That figure looks more like the TV series Robb , but as I always saw the starks more high medieval then more like dark age I made this new one
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/robbboth.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/robbboth.jpg.html)
-
and here the dire wolf:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/direwolf1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/direwolf1.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/direwolf2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/direwolf2.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/direwolf3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/direwolf3.jpg.html)
-
Grey Wind 8)
-
Yes I know he should be grey but I painted so much grey in the last weeks so I did him brown. I have another two wolf models so maybe I will do a grey one later on.
-
I didn't mean it like that ;) I justed wanted to show of my GoT knowledge ::) ;D
-
Oh OK then!
Here is Robb on horseback:
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/robbpferd.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/robbpferd.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/robbpferd2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/robbpferd2.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/robbpferd1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/robbpferd1.jpg.html)
and a picture for size comparison :
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/direwolfrobbfuss.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/direwolfrobbfuss.jpg.html)
The next update might take a bit longer as I started work on my Lannisters which will be done parallel to this project so be patient with me
-
Really cool mounted Robb!
-
I started on a unit of Hearthguards (SAGA big hitters) more or less the heavy knights of the Starks
first up is Ser Hallis Mollen of house Mollen a member of the guard of Winterfell
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/HallisMollen3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/HallisMollen3.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/HallisMollen2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/HallisMollen2.jpg.html)
Shield is freehand again
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/HallisMollen1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/HallisMollen1.jpg.html)
-
I like those mounted figures very much. Well done Tom.
-
And another hearth guard: Ser Gawen Glover of deep wood motte:(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/SerGawenGloverofdeepwoodmotte1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/SerGawenGloverofdeepwoodmotte1.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/SerGawenGlover2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/SerGawenGlover2.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/SerGawenGlover3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/SerGawenGlover3.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/SerGawenGlover4.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/SerGawenGlover4.jpg.html)
-
Very impressive!! :o
-
The horse is a kit bash the front part is from a fire forge knight horse the rear part is from a fire forge sergeants horse. Arms of Ser Gawen are Perry Body and head are fire forge
-
Very striking Tom :o
-
Nice 'talking heraldry', there!
I admire your stamina, not straying from the path!
-
I just got some figures my son build for a Lanister force. As He is of to University and does`t have the time to paint he gave them to me for painting so expect even more!
-
I have to take a few days of from this project as our Son is back home for a few weeks ( Uni Holiday) so have to play some star wars x wing games with him instead of painting more figures .
So stay tuned for more later on.
-
Moin, Tom.
Nicely executed! Loving this thread. Getting inspiration to jump back into my own project.
Weiter so!
-
Here comes Roderik Cassel Castelan of Winterfell . Pictures are not as good as usual not sure why :-[
The Shield was a pain to do and is not as good as I would have liked it to come out ( 10 wolf heads on such a small shield is difficult)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/RoderikCassel3.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/RoderikCassel3.jpg.html)
(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/RoderikCassel2.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/RoderikCassel2.jpg.html)(http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b317/tomrommel/RoderikCassel1.jpg) (http://s22.photobucket.com/user/tomrommel/media/RoderikCassel1.jpg.html)
-
Great job! I think you've done really well on these small wolveheads!
-
Very cool cavalry you have done! 8)
I wouldn't even dare to dream about painting the heraldry, so much kudos to you! Great colour choices on bardings :-*
-
For the bulk of my forces I'm just doing house colours on the shields but I feel like I should do the actual shields of the members of the houses...... But initially they'll just have a two tone shield so I don't get bogged down.
Banners are gonna give me grief as well. I'm just going with print outs but I'm not savy enough to do anything fancy with them myself.
