Title: French Turcos, Real Turks, and Jungle
Post by: Major Weenie on July 27, 2008, 08:21:42 AM
Bear with me, I'm new to the group, and not certain if I should keep adding images to old topics, or create new ones.

OK, here's a Wargames Foundry Franco Prussian Turco, converted to a 'Turco in Africa.'   The uniform is exactly the same, so I suppose that it's not that much of a conversion.

And here's the officer to the unit, converted from a Wargames Foundry ACW officer.

And here's some, real, Old Glory Turks.

And here's some more Essex Turks, in 15mm.

And, finally, the promised terrain from one of our past Ashanti games, in which the club had so much jungle terrain on the table, most of it made from plastic bithday cake decoration, that the smell of plastic forced visitors out of the room.

Start a new topic, or splice your stuff into an existing related one... It's all good. Do whichever one you please.

Keep 'em coming. Do you have any pics of figures (from either side) from your Ashanti game?

Hi Major W,

trying not to be a pedantic pain in the butt, but isn't he one of the Artizan "Furriners" from their Western range? I believe he came in a pack of three, with a mad kilted Scot [Malamute used him as Queen Victoria's "friend" John Brown IIRC] and a Prussian Kuerrassier Officer. Could be wrong, of course  lol

I've got all three lined up to appear in my Darkest Africa games - once I can find them in the lead mountain....

They are lovely pics btw and I'm sure no-one will complain if you keep posting!

Apologies for the very late reply, but I've just got back from my hols in the Vendee.

Sorry to say but I think so ;) They are from Crusader miniatures :

And I hope you don't have a weather as bad as in Normandie during your holidays  ::)

You know,
I thought that he was a Wargames Foundry figure, but looking back on it I think that I acquired him in one of our many trades down at The Bengal Club.  So I suppose he could be anything?
Regards,

Matt,

you are correct, of course! I always get the two companies mixed up as they are so similar in style :(

They weather in the Vendee was variable - some days of glorious sunshine and others of rain. Still very enjoyable and we will be going back again next year  :)
