I was boxing stuff up today to get ready for uni, when i came across these.

I got the two coloured dragons on holiday when I was 8 or so for the princely sum of 99p and £9.they're covered in glitter and thick paint, but the green one is a nice size for a big dungeon boss and the blue one is well detailed and could make a fun painting piece. Both are resin and well detailed and are now being stripped,
More to come :)

How do those giant Dragons get into the dungeons? Never got that lol

They build the dungeons around them to keep them trapped? or they're brought there as hatchlings to grow up in the caves like guard dogs? Or perhaps really dungeons are just dragon burrows :)

I can't see much of them in the little photo, but I've seen worse dragon turds. ;)

I was half expecting to see a painted version of BMEs "dragon" from the title.

so after an afternoon soaking in paint stripper i managed to get the glitter off these.the paint yielded a bit but in the end i just had to undercoat over them.anyway, here are the two dragons next to a mithril strider 32mm (real scale 28mm) .

I must say that for an ornament from a new age hippy store, the large dragon is painting up pretty well so far, and whilst it isnt going to win any competitions it will look great in my next campaign.

White undercoat given a layer on brown and black was to show the detail on the thing. so far so good, next step is blasting it with the airbrush, but im unsure what colour the beast should be.

I think it couldb e a nice chromatic dragon, maybe bronze, copper or even gold!

I've never been a fan of metallic dragons, but i can see what you mean, it suits the brown tone so far and bronze could work. the only problem is painting it in such a way that it doesn't go back to looking like a cheap ornament.
I might go for a leather brown and keep that bronze tone, or a deep red? i don't really want to go green ,or grey, but i just cont decide.

I have to admit I am the same.
As for the idea of stripping down those resin dragons (and other creatures) bought on holidays, I have to agree its a great idea. I did one that I found in a bin once and it came out great, so much so that a few people have asked me to re do theirs in colours they want.
As for the colour of the beast, you could try a nice dark Blue?

I really wish i had picked some up recently when i was in cornwall. i wanted to get a few as i had the idea then, but they were all covered in glitter and it completely didn't occur to just strip them like minis.
Blue could be good, perhaps not a navy blue, but a grey blue.

How about browns getting progressively darker as you go further from the chest with a crest of bronze down the spine? Possibly the horns on the wingtips too.

You could start with the old games workshop shadow grey which has a nice blueish hue to it ;)

quite like this . :)

I may keep the blue for the smaller dragon, and start with shadow grey working up to a brighter blue.

Yeah I've got a few of those kind of thing. My girlfriend always seems to bring them home from charity table top sales and that kind of thing. Don't think she'd let me strip and paint them though. Worth an ask I guess. :D
Look forward to seeing how it turns out. Already looks great with just undercoat and wash.

Ral Partha blue grey (http://www.ralparthaeurope.co.uk/shop/miniature-paints-c-54/8-blue-grey-p-1612.html) is a decent highlight for shadow grey. (Ignore the bright cyan colour of the online swatch)
But yeah, another vote for a bit of bronze on one of them.
