Hi,
Quick question. Are the Prussian figures from the French Prussian war of 1870 eligible for the war of 1864 (2nd schleswiger war) too???
Cheers

Only difference that I am aware of is that the earlier helmet was taller in 1864.

Yep, that is the only difference I am aware of.
-
The older helmet also had a distinctive metal rib running up the back.

The coat was also a tad longer ,but who cares,Helions Prussian figures work great in 28mm who ever has them now. Also Waterloo to Mons used to make them specifically, amd supposedly they have been bought up here in the States,to be rereleased. I believe Ed Dowgiala is the person who bought them up.

Buy guys wearing soft cap and you're sorted then!

I got some of those too

Eureka makes Danish 'landsoldater' for the war of 1864, btw.
-
You can also use "Battle Honours 28mm",Austrian dragoons and hussars w/shako for Danish cavalry,or even ..Mirliton also has Austrians, and Battle Honours also has Saxons in soft cap w/. visor, and austrian dragoons can be used for Saxon reiter.

It does beg the question, why? ;D

Well, I'm from Denmark you know. And just the other day I took my two eldest sons to see the Dybbøl History Center, which is a museum concerned with the battle of 1864.
I have quite a bit of Prussians from my VSF already. I'm considering re-purposing them to fight some Danes in 1864 instead.
I recall the Eureka figures being quite large? The Foundry Prussians are quite small...
Also - what happened to Helion!? I can't seem to find a figure maker by this name anymore? Did North Star buy them without putting the ranges up for sale? :)

That's correct, North Star bought them, they did sell them and added to the range in fact, rumour is that they have gone back to Helion.

Oh! OK! :)
But the assertion that they're currently in limbo is not wrong then? o_o

Sort of, check the NS site, Nick may still have stock and I believe he was retaining part of the range, all very confusing.

Danish television is bringing out a major historical fiction series on the war of 1864 later this year, I think.
-
PS. I believe that the Helion figures designed for 1866 have the earlier helmet.

I have the Eureka danes and they fit quite nice .w/ Foundry Prussians, and yes helion prussians are earlier, and they also mix well w/Foundry,also castaway arts makes Prussians..
