Title: Crisis 2014
Post by: Johan on August 25, 2014, 07:19:51 PM
Just a quick update: Crisis 2014 is on november 1st at the same venue as the last years.

http://www.tsoa.be/crisis_traders.html (http://www.tsoa.be/crisis_traders.html)
This is the list for 2014 though it still says 2013, somewhat of a computer thing that seems more difficult to change than expected.

Really looking forward to it, Scrivs and I will be there with the Battle of Keren 1941 game.  Our challenge for the weekend is to fit the mountain into Scrivs's Mini!  ;)

Cheers

Would love to be there this year, but, alas I'll be visiting Belgium next September to see Kris and visit my Great Uncle's place of rest at Polygon Wood.

Very keen to pick-up the WW1 Belge miniature for Crisis if anyone wants to part with.

Thank you,

Helen

The Polygon Wood Cemetary is located near Zonnebeke (West-Vlaanderen)

I just heard from Richard at Otherworld Minis that he will be at Crisis and he will have Otherworld Skirmish on hand.  I'm not clear if this is a demo or the rulebook to look at, but whatever he has planned should be great!

Will you have your vehicles and the Mutton Chop Range with you? Perhaps some pre-order discount?

We plan to take a lot of goodies but some items such as Mutton Chop and our vehicles sell very fast so pre orders are advisable.

So, a day later, how was Crisis this year?

As usual a lot of great gaming tables and traders, personally I think from modelling point of view the average quality of the gaming tables was higher then last year  :)

I recognized some nice changes in the setup/organisation:

the whole venue for me seemed fine tuned  :), a more and better setup "food court", the setting of gaming and trade stands I found quite varied, no long strait boring lanes. The bring & sell section was better placed and a second set of toilets improved the situation further. However paying 10.-€ entrance fee AND having to pay to go for a pee...... :(
The parking was free for the early visitors only, because a lot of space was reserved for traders, but not needed  :-[

All in all I enjoyed the 10th Crisis I visited very much and will be there in 2015  :) :)
Title: Re: Crisis 2014
Post by: former user on November 02, 2014, 09:10:48 AM
was there, met a few people I know from the forum, that was nice, had a nice day...
it appeared to me they now distributed presented games and traders more evenly between the two halls - not sure how I like this....
I prefer gamers to be close together so that we can meet and discuss easier.

the most remarkable experience for me was seeing the Keren set-up in the flesh - it was mesmerizing, it can't be caught in pictures how it feels to stand next to it. First time for me in miniature wargaming ever that the expression "willing suspension of disbelief" got a true meaning....

I had the impression that the number of traders this year doubled, it was overwhelming - I always have to make several attempts to see everything.
sadly, I did not get the special miniature although I paid the entry fee....

Anyway, I hope they got the costs covered so that they can do it next year again. It is important to have such a large convention on mainland Europe

Back home in Blighty after a cracking weekend trading at the show. Lovely to meet some of you there. Thanks also to all at TSA for making this such a welcoming and friendly event. The evening traders buffet event was fantastic (every show should have one) and even included a proposal of marriage!

Agree with all said so far about what fun Crisis is.  it's the highlight of our gaming year.

It was great to meet some fellow LAFers there.  I had a nice chat with former user and some of the German contingent who came along.  It's a great European meet.

Thank you!  Several people made similar comments and it certainly made it worthwhile hauling the mountain over to Antwerp (it did also help that we had awesome lighting in that part of Hall 2).  Great job by the TSA and such a friendly, chatty event.  Will have to go again very soon.
