Hi Guys. Looks cool. Not into sci fi though so, sorry won't be going for this one. Don't forget to change the title so it has (KICKSTARTER) at the beginning. Moderator rules. :)

As with Beefcake I like these but I'm not sure what I'd use them for. They have a lovely Pulp look about them. Good luck though, it looks like a nice range.

I like the look of these and, for the cost, they are great value. Just wondering whether or not I can shoe horn them into my Dr Who games as a new alien race. The certainly seem to fit the bill.

I'd say they'd be spot on, that's an excellent idea.

I might have to keep an eye on this as I've been thinking of a Scifi-Dr Who Pulp Alley setting using figures from my other settings.

I've been eyeing these for ages (or well, months) so I'm glad there will be something motivating me to purchase even more lead I don't need.  ::) :)

I bought in on this. They will fit perfectly with my already growing sci-fi/fantasy lizardman army.

They look very much like the Fantasy Lizardmen from Battlezone Miniatures. The Amphidians. Is it the same sculptor?

http://www.battlezone-miniatures.co.uk/shop/category/188 (http://www.battlezone-miniatures.co.uk/shop/category/188)

I am already using the Battlezone Amphidians in my army, since I think a mix of fantasy and high tech miniatures is great for my take on a sci-fi lizardmen horde.

I might buy some of your fantasy lizardmen too, they would work out well for characters or just for the fun of painting some nice models.

 :) Thanks for sharing.

Thankyou for your nice comments guys. Dr who is not something I had considered, I envisioned earth invasion  by lizards fighting post war British, but do like the idea of Dr Who, lets be honest you do what you want its your ideas not mine, and if you pledge they are your figures, will be interested to see some battle reports in the future, and see some nicely painted ones as well.
Yes they are designed by Martin Baker, whether mine came first or The AmphidiansI don't know, talking to him tomorrow about the Orcs so will ask the question

I got in on this KS.  It looks like an enjoyable little project that should be quick to paint.  I can think of very many in-game uses for a squad of space lizards.

Good luck with it :)

Yeah, I'm seriously thinking Pulp Alley Doctor Who now!

Just added picture of the rocket launcher and loader to the kickstart. I have started painting up the start of my army, going with camo skin just to be  bit different to my blue lizards

Can we see a size comparison photo?

Title: Re: kickstarter Small lizard range
Post by: Lancer on September 19, 2014, 09:37:55 PM
size comparison is not a problem, but what do you want me to compare it to, don't have that many different makes.

From a Doctor Who perspective I'd go for Crooked Dice, Hasslefree and Heresy.

Given they are Space Lizards the scale shouldn't matter that much? On the grounds that you could just say that the lizards are either taller or shorter than humans!

Saw these mentioned in a magazine last year. Love the look of them and had them on my list of wants since then ... I fancy seeing them fight my Hydra Miniatures Space Girls!

Will talk to my sons and see if they want to get into their first Kickstarter ...

My first thought was that they look a bit like Star Trek Gorn.

I have no idea what I'll use them for - probably Dr Who or similar.

How about using them as Kleggs from 2000AD?

Have you considered arming any of the fantasy lizards in a Greek or Egyptian style?

(Mainly the shields I suppose)

May be handy for 7th Voyage players....

Hadnt really thought of it, the shields have various feathers on, to give me a bit of Mayan look and shields are made from turtle shell. So I suppose if its just a case of shield change, might look into it. Like the idea of middle kingdom wooden shield, in fact more I think of it, crocodile god Sobek, there is some potential here.

To be fair, I had wondered if there might be a chance of a figure with kopesh and Egyptian shield to use for Wargods proxy forces.

Greek armour and hoplite shield (or maybe Persian?) for 7th Voyage etc.

Kopesh isn't a problem, once decided on shield design and size, may move on this. Greek maybe but not yet

Opinions will vary, but Im only interested in sci-fi lizardmen from this KS.  I would rather that the focus remained tightly on sci-fi lizards than branching out into fantasy.

You are dead right, we have gone off on a tangent, need to open this on the fantasy bit.

Well regardless of me coming across as militant about thread topic, my main interest is actually that the Kickstarter is focused on sci-fi models rather than fantasy.  If the possibility of adding some more figures to the KS came up, then I would very much like them to be compatible sci-fi lizards rather than incompatible fantasy ones, if you see what I mean :)

Regarding comparison photos a modern Games Workshop Space Marine is usually a pretty good bet.  However people may feel about them a very large percentage of hobbyists own or have owned a few and close to everyone around here has at least seen them.

No not militant just dead right. Talking with my sculptor about a command and character pack, but he is snowed under at the moment, so that will probably be another kickstarter, I could make promises but don't like doing that, so everything is a maybe, until its listed.

As for comparison photo, space marine is a good idea except I don't and have never owned any GW products, except my dwarf army, and that isn't going to help much. Will look in the loft and see what I can find.

Sorry for diverting the thread.
I've already backed the KS but noticed that there are already fantasy versions, and I wondered if they might get any extras in the same way this KS is expanding the SF.

For SF, how about a technician/science officer/equipment crewman/comms officer etc?
Possibly carrying an i-pad/tricorder/tv remote control/mobile phone or what-have-you, and possibly with a weapon slung on back or side.

I was thinking for the next kickstart, higher ranking officer possibly with pistol pointing, sit down type heavy gun 2 crew if I can persuade my model builder. Grunts with heavier armour, comms officer I like the sound of, and some kneeling firing, I suppose it depends how far you guys want to go with it, as long as you guys keep buying them I will keep expanding.

I have spoken with my sculptor and when he has time we are going to be converting the fantasy lizards for Egypt, new weapons shields and different costume.

I'm in for most sci-fi lizardmen and will probably get most of the current fantasy lizards too, they will mix well and can double as fantasy skirmish encounters.

I wasn't sure my sculptor would be able to do it in time, but he hasn't let me down, so a new figure has been added to the kickstart, a senior commander. Hope you like him

Definitely, he is cool :)

I have modified my pledge to get my hands on that guy.
