Well summer is over so we thought we would start to release some more toys.
Over the next weeks we have quite a lot of packs being released that fill gaps in existing modern ranges.
First up are some more figures as part of our Insurrectionist range. This range is designed to provide bad men to fit in most operational theaters around the world.

Available in the shop.

Can always use more insurgents :P
-
Great looking sculpts! Some very nice and slightly different ones too like the one sitting on the bricks firing his rifle.
And as comissarmoody already put it, there's never too many insurgents :)
-
Those are great - could be used for foreign fighters, or generic extremists....
Nice release!
-
These are bloody perfect, cheers!
-
Wonderful minis! :)
-
On the list!
-
Fantastic...I dread the day I start my moderns and end up on your website with intent to purchase... lol

Thats a shame because I am quite looking forward to it lol
-
You're not selling trough Le Chasseur (Italian company) anymore ?
-
We still have them listed as our Italian distributor but have heard nothing for some time sadly.
-
Chomping at the bit, to see what else you have in the production line. :D
-
Very nice.
Love them.
I need to get back to painting moderns.
Just have so many projects, so little time.
I know, life is tough. lol
-
Looks great. I think i know something else that is one it way for the brits. ;)
-

Go on, give us a clue!
-
Those are fantastic! I like the mix of the clothing, they would really fit all the theaters!
As for what is in the pipeline, surely it's US Army M2 .50 cal and 40mm AGL support gunners packs. Please? :D
-
Up-to-date Russians?
-
Go on, give us a clue!
Well it involves something to do with a small portable weapon currently in the command squad's of the British army.
-
Up-to-date Russians?
I think another kick starter might, be in store for that. ::)
And I am down for US mark19s and M2-50.cals.
-
:o Very nice, hope there are some more packs for these guys, can't have enough variety when it comes to these dudes.
-
Currently sculpted and going through the moulding process are ;
More nasty guys with support weapons such as 50 cal, Recoiless Rifle, SPG. These either work as stand alone weapons and crews or fit into Technicals or other vehicles.
USMC 50cal and crew.
Brit 50 Cal and crew. (Brit 50 cal is different to US 50 cal.)
Brit Valon user, female medic, dog handler and sniffer dog, 60mm mortar,
80mm mortar and crew.
Lots of other modern stuff being worked on for later this year - early next. Not telling about these as we are still in the pre sculpt and sculpting stage and we have currently moved onto LOTS of ECW figures. Sorry but I have to feed our ECW customers habit as well as yours and they have been very patient. lol
-
Looking forward to the USMC M2

Female British medic? Guys thank you that just what I've been looking for.
-
" Sorry but I have to feed our ECW customers habit as well as yours and they have been very patient. " - yes we have been haven't we! lol ( ps these figures are excellent!)
-
Really good news !
-
If your doing a female medic will we be getting any other female soilders?
-
All good stuff..now how about some modern civilian types?
-
Sorry but I have to feed our ECW customers habit as well as yours and they have been very patient. lol
Can you give us a hint, what will come??? Civilians?
-
All good stuff..now how about some modern civilian types?
I'd have to "third" modern civilians, of any type really! Or HVTs with bags over their heads, hands bound..that kinda thing. the market is sorely lacking in that category...
-
The Dog Handler and sniffer dog is definitely going to end up being a must purchase.
May be good as a show piece.

Maori Wars....you know you want to, Bush rangers, police and Maoris in European clothing and perhaps a settler with 2 shotguns locked together ;) they would tie in nice with your exisiting range and also compliment the Perry BIR range :D
-
" and also compliment the Perry BIR range"
Surely you mean the Perry BIR range compliments the Empress range? ;)
Anyhow - leave them alone - I want more ECW lol
-
Some generic insurgent types with heavy weapons. These are designed to fit into technical' s, both ours and any other that you may have, in order to make them mobile.

oh my God! (in my best John Hillerman's voice)
-
Can somebody tell me what the recoilless rifles are?
Are they Russian weapons?
-
The last one is a US made M40 106mm on tripod:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M40_recoilless_rifle
first one is an SPG 9 73mm RCL...

I definitely want some of these.
Will there be a British MG on a tripod soon?
-
Yep in about a weeks time. ;)
-
Sweet! I can use the USMC 50 for my 82nd as stand in's.

They are awesome guys
-
Uh-oh! Wallet runs off to hide...
-
OK - I will wait and order when the British Mg is available.

Doing my happy dance on this end. ::)
-
Modern Russions - great. :D
-
Modern russians !!
Yesssssssssssss !!
When ??
-
Kickstarter?
-
I was about to comment... then I simply went...
:o
-
Kickstarter?
Oh no!!!!
-
These are great looking figures. Modern Russians will be interesting.
-
Really nice..... :)
-
Oh no!!!!
Is that "oh no!" not a Kickstarter? lol
I backed Devil Dogs & Dragons and I seem to recall one was mentioned. :D
-
what kind of dog is it?
are the rusians ready for crisis
-
But Of course I am still holding out for the PLA flame thrower teams. :D
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hERBw71NjCo
And some another support pack option with a more static or shooting posse with a QBB-95 and some Type 69 RPGs to round out the force.
Oh and a fire support pack with Type 80 or Type 67 MGs and Type 87 grenade launcher.
So are there any more planes along the PLA route?
I already have 3 ZBD-97 for my Mech force but need to round out the leg/mortised infantry.
Still, not going to complain about more modern Russians. :D
-
Should be available next week.
Other stuff is in the pipe line such a large number of Ultra Moderns Russians ;)
So is that with AK-74 or AK-12's?
If I remember correctly I saw atleast a couple of AK-12 during the Crimean crisis, but I could be wrong.
-
I already have 3 ZBD-97
Where did you get those then? What scale?
We are working on the Russians now so they will be released when they are done. Should be quite quick.
All other current ranges will continue to be added to including the PLA.
-
I honislty can not remember who I got them from. But I have had them for a few years and they 1/56 and are actually BMP-3s.
I am just using them as is ZBD-97
-
So is that with AK-74 or AK-12's?
If I remember correctly I saw atleast a couple of AK-12 during the Crimean crisis, but I could be wrong.
Russian Armed Forces do not use the AK-12, the development of the weapon was more a political as opposed to military demand, and eventually it was dropped when the Russian Military made it quite clear there was no point developing new weapons when they had endless stocks of AK74s (and other variants) lying around that with a little tweaking would be just as useful but at less than half the cost.
I think the entire basis of the AK-12 was to allow for more 'bits' to be added, or another stab at modernisation, but it was pointless really.
If any AK-12s have been produced then its likely they have been reduced to serving amongst special forces or Interior troops, similar to what happened to the AN-94 and AEK.

Yeah..It might have been a modernized ak-74 with some aftermarket parts.
-
what kind of dog is it?
The Brit one? Looks like a working cocker spaniel to me.
(Which I am very happy about, as an owner of two of them)
-

Well spotted. ;)
-
Top marks to Empress for picking the best dog to sculpt ;)
Now - any chance of a lanky ATO, a bleep and a padre from a certain TV series? (Oh, and an 'Arthur' would be very nice too!)
-
The Russian military is still pursuing a new fighting rifle. Currently the trials are continuing between the current AEK model and the AK-12 pattern rifle. Rumors are that the AEK is currently leading the competition.
Any rifles you've seen in Ukraine/Crimea would be AK-74M's or AK-100 series with aftermarket parts.
The goal of the "next" rifle is a decrease in weight, increase in ambidextrous use, and inclusion of modern rail components for optics/lasers/lights etc. It will likely not be some big step forward, but a small shift in the thought process behind Russian carbine design. All of these features are currently available aftermarket as well (heck I have them on my own rifle).
Be curious to see what they adopt, if anything.
-
I would like to see you do a press pack with a camerman and reporter in flack jackets and a war photographer.
-
Seconded
-
The latest modern release is this 50 cal. team for the Brits.

British 50 Cal Looks very good.

The Russians Have Arrived!!!!!
We are extremely pleased to show off our new modern Russian range just in time for Christmas!
Featuring our trademark intense detail and high level of research, these new figures fill an important gap in our modern ranges and come absolutely packed with current Russian equipment. Five brand new packs are available in our Modern Combat store right now!
Well these have just been placed in the shop.
All the heads are separate so that you can build as many different versions as you wish.

The Russians are sooo sweet.
Love them.
-
They look pretty cool
-
Impressive 8)
-
Thanks guys.
-
No...
Thank you YOU Empress !
Have you planned some renforcement in the future ?
Special units ?
-
Nothing specifically designed yet but there will obviously be more packs, especially head sets. Special Forces also seem logical.
-
Very nice Paul
8)
-
The above figures would fit in very well as Special Forces to an extent, apparently the only way to tell who was Special Forces and who was Regular equipment wise, in Crimea, was the SF troops occasionally carried folding stock AK47s!
-
Nice. Will be buying in the new year!
Any chance of some transportation for them, like the Tigr or similar?
-
Those Russians are definitely in my wishlist. They are really awesome!
Do have a question, what DMR is that in the 3rd picture to the far right? Is that the current iteration of the SVD?
-
;D Once again I must plot to get these without she who must be obeyed (or at least humored) finding out.....
Seriously - great looking figures! Any idea when Age of Glory in the USA will have them?
-

No plans on any more Russian vehicles at the moment as we currently have a lot in the range.
Next up will be PLA vehicles.
-

this also makes me happy, my wallet not so much. :P

That might be a killer for me then sadly. I don't see the point having ultramodern guys with no ultramodern light vehicles (which are, after all, the ones you're most likely to see in the kind of skirmish game we're looking at here.
On the other hand, it'll be nice to see more stuff for the PLA; my boys need some support too ;).

Be fair, they produce a fair share of what is currently in service with the Russian Army and is likely to be so for a very long time. BTR-80, BTR-80A/ BTR-82 and they do a BMP-3. Tank-wise they have a T-90, T-80 and a T-72, what more do you really want?

Tanks and apc are definitely good thing, but how many tanks do you really need for a skirmish game? :)
And imho 28mm much more useful scale for playing minor clashes then let say battalion level games.
Things like Tigr, Vodnik, Typhoon and even uaz-469 much more needed than any tank.
-
Oh noes, something more to put on to be purchased list o_o

Indeed, would be great to see UAZ-469 in resin :)

Check out HLBS as they make a number of Russian items that we do not.
http://www.hlbs.co.uk/type.php?id=84
Hows that for a free advert lol

Just a MTLB ;)
-
Just a MTLB ;)
Why would you need an MTLB? They're not used in frontline service any more by the Russians.
Only vehicle that is common which is missing is a Tigr... However, I doubt you'd want to ride into battle in a Tigr when you have BTR80s/BMP3s available.
-
I have the Empress/Imprint BMP-3 and the HLBS BMD-2 - both splendid models. I should probably see about getting some infantry for them at some point... ;)
On the subject of future vehicles, how about something to go with the Leopard 2? I can't be the only person who would commit a (minor) felony for a CV90.
-
If you really want an MTLB then aside from the HLBS one then Propaganda Kompany do a mighty impressive 1/48 kit:
http://propaganda-kompany.com/Tracks-AFV-Sofskin/90169-mtlb.html
There's also a paper model out there:
http://www.papertigerarmaments.com/MTLB.html
You'll need to resize it but for $3.00 you can't really complain.
-
that's the style I prefer the MTLB and other BMP1, BMP2 (which are still the same and still in service in Russia)
My order is past, I expected my Russian forward. I had to accompany a BMP3 although i prefer the BMP 1 or the MTLB for the coolest design.

Any plans for Chinese vehicles?

Excellent!

A couple of useful head sets.
Shaggy Brit cammo heads and Taliban heads that can also be used for some special forces.

Hmmmm... combined with a couple of your Jazz Age tribesmen I see some potential use for those Afghan heads. :)
-
Yes especially the Jazz Age cavalry with Lee Enfields. Had a similar thought yesterday. Must give it a try ;)

I never said they didn't produce all that, I'm not sure where you get that I'm not being fair?
I asked if they were going to produce a particular vehicle which is also becoming more widely used around the world, and could also fit in the PLA range as a quick web search seems to indicate they have a growing number.
Exactly my point. Everyone seems to scream for the armour but ignore the workhorses. The Tigr would be a great fit for all sorts of other scenarios that don't involve front-line warfare, like sci-fi, spy-fi, Russian gangsters vs police.... In terms of front-line battles as well, surely at 28mm/1:56 you'd be more likely to see one of these in the battlespace on the table than a T-72/80/90? Plus, if /when the Russian Army does take to the field in future years you can bet they'll be using these, so it would be nice to have them available.
I'm as big an Empress fan as the next positive commenter on this thread, believe me (as a regular purchaser at shows and KS-backer, and I currently have the Very Bad Men on the painting bench...), it just seems that this is a golden opportunity to produce something no-one else does in this scale and it's been sadly passed up.
Unless it's sneakily going to be included in the PLA range.....?
Check out HLBS as they make a number of Russian items that we do not.
http://www.hlbs.co.uk/type.php?id=84
Hows that for a free advert lol
Honestly? iirc, they're 1/48, so possibly a touch too big? I'm sure they look fine on the table but they still don't cover the most modern stuff. The Shilka's a nice option though :D
-
Do you really notice the difference between 1/48 and 1/50? That's what the Empress vehicles are, 1/50. I have a good selection of them, when they were still made by Imprint. Personally I can't see much difference with the 1/48 stuff.
1/48 and 1/56, that's another kettle of fish.
-
The 1:56 to 1:50 issue isn't a problem if the vehicle TYPES are similar. AFV in 1:50 versus AFV in 1:56 in noticeable whereas 1:50 AFV to 1:56 soft skin (jeeps, landrover, even the wiesel from Company B) is not that bad. You have to be consistent.
-
Are there any American, chinese or Russian heads int he works?
-
Yes some different heads would be fine.
-
Three sets of Russian heads due soon.
-
Nice I have to finish my usmc first and after I'll buy the russians with some cool options
-
@Empress Miniatures, will you make "Hollywood" like special operators without helmets or hats?
Characters similar to the ones from shows like the Unit or Strike Back or do you stick to what's actually used on the field?
-
We have tended to stick to actual fact......but......we have plans. :D
Had hoped to get some stuff done this year but decided to do the Russians instead.
Next year though we will will do some Hollywood types. ;)

Fantastic news :)
-
Fantastic news... but for my credit card! :D I am not in Hollywood type stuff... everyone does it and frankly Hollywood/TV are is crappy I cannot find it inspiring for scenarios...
Actually we need USMC gunners with SMAW... this has to be a priority!

They already exist.
-
not in the empress range. This is an empress thread, not an eureka thread. And yes I have them. But I want them also for my Empress USMC in the same style.
-
Hollywood types... not BBC3 types? (Some 'not' Bluestone 42 please, Santa!)
-
Head to do these guys would be a nice as well.

Those heads in the last pictures :-*
Blue helmets, red masks... Cobraaaaa!

Exactly!

We have crewed up some more of our support weapons that can be used stand alone or to fit into ours and other vehicles.
This ZSU-23 has both Taliban and general insurgent crews.

Nice :D
-
Even more Empress goodness! Do you have any big projects in the pipelines that you can share with us? (Bundeswehr?) ;)
-
nothing to report at the moment ;)

Is the insurgent gunner on the right winking or has he had a stroke? :) his mate finds it quite comical, either way.

I am also betting on stroke. lol
And a question what is the Anti-tank being used in the Russian support set?
-
A new release for our modern range a ZBD05 PLA amphibious 'tank'. The PLA version or the US AAVP-7AP.
This sucker is BIG as you can see from the picture with the PLA Marines. Just right for Pacific invasions : 0
This is in the shop now;

Holy Mother of God, this may well just tip me into collecting 28mm moderns.
I WANTS IT! :o
-
I wonder if you will bring some new stuff for "Danger Close" as promised.... ;)
-
Thing is huge!
-
Wow! That is an impressive model.
There's a light tank/ fire support version of that with a 105mm gun. Any plans to do that version?
-
Yes possibly but next up will be a MBT in the spring. T99.
Worth noting is that the back and front sections can be placed in the 'open' positions.
Cheers,
Paul
-
Finally! But now I have to wait with the knowledge that you may make a T99.

Maybe do one up in cloud camo!

More pixels!

You really can do whatever you want with Chinese vehicles/infantry. If you make it up..someone probably wears it. I've seen garish orange/speckled camo etc.

WHY????
-
Its like they learned camouflage from the Space Marines.
-
WHY????
State Factory 7066 had an over run of material for children's duvet and pillow sets that year. The Thomas the Tank Engine Paratroop unit and Hello Kitty engineer battalion were arguably the losers in this scenario. :)
The orange camo IIRC is one used by rural firefighters. The Chinese are by no means unique in that btw.
-
Its like they learned camouflage from the Space Marines.
They wear way too many helmets for that though..but I'd like to see them adopt chainsaws and swords!
-
You gotta love those white wall tyres. Real gangster.
-
I thought Chinese would be relatively easy pick colours for. I'm totally confused now ;D
-
Outside of the silliness...you really can paint them any colours you wish. I'd imagine someone, somewhere knows precisely which units these are and who wears what, but the possibilities are pretty limitless.
With a gigantic territory, millions of soldiers, hundreds of different organizations, militias, etc.
Lately it does appear that the main forces of the PLA are heading in the direction of somewhat standardized digital-pattern camouflage, in a couple of different colour palettes.
PS: If you want white-walled tires..how about white-walled tank road wheels? Super. Gangster.
-
The white-wall gangsta look is only for the parades. I guess they adapted the practise from the good old USSR.
edit: next Empress release?

lol lol lol lol lol
They may look cute but I suspect they are very deadly lol lol lol lol
-
WHY????
What are these guys? Paratroops?!
-
I've no idea - was hoping someone would chime in. I have to believe most of the silliness is for parades only, or they're territorial guard units or something odd. I'd imagine if a war brewed up they'd end up in proper kit.
The Chinese may still be struggling tech-wise to match the rest of the world militarily, but they sure can march.
-
lol lol lol lol lol

well... it appears that they hired ethnic Chinese movie extras all around the world to flesh out some units... anyway the read coated girls are supposed to be armed militia (or maybe now they are called People Armed Police), they are under the ministry of the interior (or internal security) not the PLA proper. Once you get to internal security organization it is a bit confusing. Even my PLA advisors tell me they have troubles in following the structure...
Talking about uniforms... all my 2 (and half... I gained another advisor...) PLA advisors told me they do not want to go to the Navy because the uniform is crappy; ok one and half are girls... but also the boy does not like the uniform... this is one of the reason why he turned down a position as PAO officer on the Liaoning.
Paul... said advisor... (your same one) will really appreciated if you send him one of the type99 when they will be ready... (plus having the crew figures would be nice...) he got his post-PhD assignment... Tank school and then battalion command... (compliments your advisor is the youngest battalion CO in the PLA... lol do not disappoint him).
-
Those pink and white uniforms make them look ready to staff a robot carrying space ship.

Remind we when its released and we will sort the details for him ;)
-
Colourful dress uniforms aside, 'goose-stepping' is incredibly hard on the muscles to do over a distance like that... even our PT instructors who insisted on 'spotty dog' marching could learn a thing or two from theirs.
-
Whilst the retro uniforms are cutesy I am not convinced that arming the cabin crew on Air China flights is a positive step. Then again it might be their best chance of getting positive customer feedback.
-
I've not seen that many white 'go-go' boots since the 1960s!
-

Feedback is always positive comrade. Only self-criticism should be negative. I suspect it's been a while since you read the little red book. ;)

I hope it's not the wrong thread but I have a quick (and of course quite silly) question about an Empress PLA pack (PLA4)
I'm thinking the running one has a QBU-88 and the kneeling one a QBB-95, am I correct ? Thanks by advance. (I know nothing (for now) about modern warfare miniatures ... my wallet blames Black Ops )
-
Yep thats correct.

US Navy Seal Special Forces
Two new United States Marine packs have just been added to our Modern Combat web store. These add more Navy Seals to our special forces sets an, as you would expect, come absolutely packed with detail.
The first set represents Navy Seals engaged on Operation Redwing in 2005. These come fully loaded with survival equipment and present some great options for scenarios in your games. I wonder if they will survive?
(http://i1372.photobucket.com/albums/ag359/EmpressMiniatures/LSC1A_zpszlagdpv7.jpg) (http://s1372.photobucket.com/user/EmpressMiniatures/media/LSC1A_zpszlagdpv7.jpg.html)

The second set represents a Navy Seal Sniper in Iraq 2005 both moving and deployed. Conceivably you could describe him as an American Sniper? Again, superbly detailed - this is one of our most ambitious figures yet and we are very pleased with how well this has come out.

Ok - I'll say it...... Utterly brilliant!
-
Very cool, great minis.

Excellent miniatures. I am planning on getting the Marine line anyway, but the importance of doing so faster just arose.

I remember Red Wing.

As usual cracking sculpts produced to such a high standard. The sniper is ordered, but shall wait for the others to come out in more dynamic poses, wearing their helmets. Hopefully.

Dynamic poses would rock!

Bit surprised that you have not worked out why the posts are static lol

-
Erm, I think we all got that...
...But dynamic poses would be nice too - from a gaming point.
But the sculpts are top notch regardless, possibly the highest detail I've seen lately - But that goes for all of the Empress releases.
The weapons are slightly bigger than IRL - But I very much like that. The barrels are less prone to break and its easier to recognize in games.
Also, since you clarified that the straight brims of the boonies, are meant to be bent - I'm really tempted by the USMC line.
I only wished, the Booniehat heads came separate, so I'd be able to convert some US.Army troops with M4's into Raiders for my African Jungle setting.
But I guess there is time untill Salute'16 ;)
-
More modern sets have been added this morning. Firstly we have been constantly asked by customers for these latest releases of a handy set of British crew for recce vehicles. These are designed to fit most kits on the market (the Airfix vehicles for example) and have poseable arms and heads to allow flexibility and can be swapped around in vehicles for variety too.
Secondly we have two Mk19 grenade launcher sets, one for the British and another for USMC forces.

Given that I have two more Jackals, a Coyote and another Warrior to do this year the crews will be especially welcome !!!!
-
Fantastic !
Hope to see the same for Russian army.
A grenades launcher would be great !
-
Very nice although sad to say the Brits don't use the Mk19- they use the H&K GMG (UKSF did however use them for a long stretch back in the 1990s and into the early 2000s so there's an option).
-
They nowadays use the H&K variant as standard but as you say they had the GL19 in the early 2000's and used them in Afghanistan along side each other. Sadly the Brits moved into the war under equipped and made a dash for the weapons supermarket to catch up. Nothing ever gets thrown away. ;)
-
I'm sorry to make a point of it but thats just not correct. UKSF had Mk19s- no regular units were ever equipped with them.
The GMG was adopted very quickly after the break-in battles of Herrick 4 in 2006 with some appearing before the end of that year on Herrick 5. Prior to that adoption, non SF units lacked any automatic grenade launcher capability.
-
Those Jackal crews will be very useful. I'll have to get the mk19 just for the #2, very useful pose.

Fortunately Eureka make the H&K GMG, so you could just swap the Mk-19 for the correct weapon and use the Empress crew.

Nice.
Those figs don't do me much good because I am building up my US army, Russian, and Chines but still cool.

I have a question about the Russian range.
Do they use in real life the classic RPG ? If yes, should we hope to see some news to complete the range ?
-
I have a question about the Russian range.

Still in use, I guess mostly with second line units but I bet they have decent stocks in war surplus reserve. It's more common to see the single shot RGP 22s and 26s in pics now ...
You could always use the RPG guy from the CWR006 set and replace the head with one of the ultra modern ones. We converted a few like that and after paint they work in fine .....
-
OK
Thank you for the answer
-
Great new releases. :)
I have ordered the US Sniper, UK Vehicle Crew and UK Grenade Launcher.
I may come back for more Russians at some point.
-
Since you have vehicle crews for the airfix coyote/jackal then why not make Us vehicle crew for the Humvee. A lot of people are using the 1/48 Tamiya Humvee so a vehicle crew should be very marketable. This will also generate interest among modelers.
Another request would be SF troops, pilots and crew for the 1/48 helicopters especially Blackhawks and Academy's little birds.
