Hi all,
I browsed through the internet for some guides on how to paint french uniforms from the later Grande Guerre-era, and so far I've managed to come up with only sir Roundwood's excellent blog. While the tutorial is very thorough and pass great attention to every detail, it also uses a lot of specialist paints which are not readily available here.
I was therefore wondering, if anyone could point me to a few useful valljeo substitutes I could use for the uniform instead.
Thank you for your time!

are we talking bleue horizon ot khaki moutarde?
-
We're talking the dusty blue of the Régiments d'Infanterie, not Tirailleurs khaki.
-
then I have to pass, horizon is not my colour
but here is what I found somewhere else

I find Vallejo French Mirage Blue a very handy colour (no 900).
I haven't got to 1916+ french, still in early war, but I use it for guns and the like

Thanks to both of you, I will continue my Quest for an acceptable bleue horizon in the near future!

I did all my 1916+ French in Vallejo mirage blue, seems to do the job although you might want to mix a bit of dark grey in when doing the helmets.
I did it over a black undercoat which toned down some of 'blueness'.
Cheers

So far I think that's what I will be going with, as that's the colour I have available for try-outs when the first Poilus arrive this weekend.

Prime with Testors Model Master Intermediate Blue. Not really much to do after that but paint faces and rifles
