Title: Best Starters Military History on The Greek War of Independence
Post by: Shipka on September 20, 2014, 09:37:23 PM
http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dstripbooks&field-keywords=thomas+gordons+greek+revolution&rh=n%3A266239%2Ck%3Athomas+gordons+greek+revolution

I have recently been asked to recommend a starters reading guide to The Greek War of Independence, whilst this has been covered before and everyone has their favourites, if you are embarking on the GWI and want a good military history then read vols 1 and 2 of Thomas Gordons History of The Greek Revolution, both vols can be purchased at reasonable cost from Amazon, couple this with St Clairs When  Greece Might Still be Free which is an excellent read on the European military involvement

Hi Shipka and others
A good book with lots of colour illustrations is by: peter paroulakis
"The Greeks and their struggle for independence".
It's worth a look.
Also there are several greek magazines from " the hobby shop" in Athens ( I think) that have a history of the war or battles and the main combatants
Shipka- if I get a chance, I will look at my greek resources for PETA.
Cheers
Peter
