Nice touches with the Pannini sign. What not graffiti? Even the home end at my local team have some that they just can't seem to shift. Might have something to do with it being aimed at their rivals.

The Pannini and other ad board signs where an eBay buy they are stickers for subbuteo fences.

I'm thinking of adding graffiti but never done it before so don't want to ruin what I've done, not sure what graffiti to put on it either.

You could print add boards with the graffitis on it. No need to paint them by hand. Just take a logo of newcastle ale, scrumpy cider or whatever you like and write you graffiti slogan over it in you image editing software.

Thanks for nice comments. Yeah I was happy with how the graffiti turned out I wasn't sure whether to do it but thought I'd give it a go, painted it and smudged it a bit with my finger.
I've not got the rules yet I've been looking forward to them since they were first rumoured but only noticed they'd been released at the weekend. So they will be getting purchased shortly along with some more fans.

Have you played them? Any good?

No. I've been considering picking them up though.

The demo at Partizan II looked interesting, but I didn't have time to get a run through of the rules.

The theme really interests though.  ::)

Nicely done brickwork. How did you do it?
Title: Re: Stadium turnstiles for Aggro
Post by: orm1 on October 03, 2014, 11:52:26 AM
Brick work was a slaters English bond 7mm sheet painted buff colour for mortar then a dry brush of orange/brown mix. I tried to use the method described by Thunderchicken who did a great tutorial somewhere on here, his brick work is way way better than my attempt so its worth a look.

Have to declare an interest as I did some of the playtesting on them but they're brilliant and every home should have a set  ;)

Seriously, they're fun, dead easy to pick up and capture the essence really well  8)

Few update pics. Of the exit gate. Pavement and graffiti on gate to add, painting signs freehand took forever. Think I'm gonna put some railings on top of wall thinking of getting plastic ladders cut off one side to make them.

The corner terrace coming along a bit. Roof as  been a challenge though. There will be one more of these to finish the corner slightly different maybe seated.

Then the corner of the pitch with a couple of players, photographer and sub warming up amongst other ideas. Also a subbuteo floodlight.

Title: Re: Stadium turnstiles for Aggro
Post by: orm1 on October 06, 2014, 10:01:08 PM
Players are from a fella in America he passed the moulds etc on to the author of a set of rules for a football game called Corner Kick who is still selling them I think. There was also a set of mega mini players but I think they are being by another company now not sure who.

Here's one I painted as a PSG player (with a GW head swap).

Done a bit more on the terrace stand, roof as gone on and side as been painted. I decided to paint the windows. The back of the stand including steps to finish along with the top of the roof. Oh and lots of fans.

Well this started out grand, but your really running with it now.

It's a cracking looking game which I may very well delve into. Obviously Ainsty have a wealth of bit's but I was also thinking about some of the "Geezers" bit too, especially the railway arches.

For grafitti how about the classic 70's...

Read the story sounds like a scary day. I was born in 76 so don't remember the violence or fashion (if you wanna call it that!) in the 70s but I remember it in the 80s. I've spoke to a mate from work who remembered it well boot boys and girls from that time from travelling around watching his team.

G. Davis?

G. Davis?

An armed robber, eventually released from prison on the grounds that his conviction was unsafe - and then jailed again on two other convictions.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Davis_(robber) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Davis_(robber))

"George Davis is Innocent" graffiti was to the 1970s what Chad's "Wot no [beer/petrol/whatever]" was to the 1940s.

Thought I'd do a bit of background for this table. I've based it on a team I made up many moons ago for my subbuteo league Eastport.

Eastport famed for there Attacking football are in a slight decline over the last couple of seasons and fans are less than impressed with newly appointed manager Ray Gregson's long ball style of play though they a few promising youngsters and England internationals Goalkeeper Vic Barrington and winger Tony Martin. The fans mood isn't helped by the fact that local rivals WestField are flying high at the top of the 1st division.

Eastport is in the North West of England a working class town that like its team is in decline.

The table will represent the Talbot Road End of the ground were the away supporters stand and the main area for any trouble outside the ground.

Eastport
Formed: 1896
Ground: Goodhall Lane, Capacity: 43,786
Honours: 1st Division Champions 1906-07, 1923-24, 1955-56,1956-57, 1967-68, 1968-69.
2nd Division Champions 1933-34, 1952-53.
F.A Cup Winners 1911-12, 1927-28, 1966-67
League Cup Winners 1963-64

"George Davis is Innocent" graffiti was to the 1970s what Chad's "Wot no [beer/petrol/whatever]" was to the 1940s.

Quite, I remember seeing this all over south and east London as a lad. A couple of years later, when he got nicked again, some wag had added "Oh no he's not."

Bit of work on a building I already had half built a Victorian Semi detached now with added 70s graffiti to fit with this table plus a shop front want to do two sets of three shops
1- Record Shop, Sports Shop plus another
2- Fish & Chip Shop, Newsagents and Derelict Shop

Problem is I keep jumping between builds.

This thread is outstanding and is rapidly becoming the one I go to first when I log in!

I was a steward at a certain football ground in the seventies - yellow coat, badge and, "Sorry mate, you can't bring alcohol into the stadium. You'll have to leave it in this bin." And all for a fiver a week and all the ditched booze you could take home at the end of the match.

Maybe there's scope in the build for a mounted police officer outside the turnstile, a couple of stewards and a bin full of bevvy? "Capture the bin" might make for a short skirmish game.  ;)

For graffiti I use a white gel pen, much easier than a paint brush.
Of the period I did see... 'Free the ITV 7' and added to 'Free George Davis' the words 'with every 4 gallons'.

Just two not very brave students with a few hard core mounted Police officers around them telling the guys to dump their super lagers in the bin! Mostly we got away with it but, in retrospect, it was the ignorance of youth which got us through . . . and the aforsaid super lager we pinched out of the bin at 3.10 every second Saturday! Happy days!!!

Got a bit of time to do some more today. Roof on Terrace Stand, railings on turnstile and exit gate and get a bit done on other stand that will complete the corner section of the stadium.

The railings on the turnstile and exit section were made using a plastic ladder I picked up from my local model shop not sure on scale. I just cut one side of the ladder off and that was that.

I'm gonna stick them on a 3D block although I'm thinking of maybe not fixing them permantley in place so that I could change the look of the table by just changing the frontages of the buildings, though I've not decided yet.

My day off today and been messing about trying to get the second tier of my main stand sorted, trying to figure out the size of the steps for seats and some steps as driven me mental.  ;D

Thanks I'm trying to make it looked lived in if possible. I read in a thread on here I think by Thinderchicken that add stuff like dog kennels and stuff.

It will be as big as my kitchen table which I haven't measured to be honest I sort of just started building without the whole table planned out.

My town of Eastport as been given a restart only the chippy remains of original buildings and the pitch. Reason being once I started using mdf it didn't match my other stuff and it was bugging me plus don't have time to scratch build everything but still modifying new mdf stuff, it was sold and is being replaced with new builds. Should have pics by weekend of main stand, turnstiles, floodlights and a row of terrace houses with front yards and a corner shop.

A few work in progress made a start on terraced houses and the front yards, the yards aren't made for these houses so a bit of cutting to make them fit. Houses are low relief from warbases yards are charlie foxtrot and shop front will be sarissa going to try and put as much extra detail as possible, gutters, t.v ariels, garden gnomes, litter. Going to try some doors from petite properties.

Main stand is already for seats to go in when they arrive. Top tier wall and roof too add as well as ad boards.

A great looking project...I really like your latest take on it and your eye for detail....surely must be room for a car on bricks somewhere just 'round the corner ?

Alan Carr (chatty man) said he was being shown around a house by the Estate Agent who said, "That's the fridge-freezer, that's the sofa & that's the TV. Would you like to go inside now?"

Thanks car on bricks that's a great idea, and couch, freezer, t.v

I just spent quite a bit getting all these bits and pieces for my board.

Trouble is I keep switching back and forth I've got the terraced houses with corner shop, floodlights, mainstand, pavements, roads turnstiles etc all on the go at same time maine because I needed different parts from different companies for each one. Getting stuck into it this weekend. Should have further pics.

Floodlight almost built just painting to do. Really happy with how it turned out much better than I hoped for.

Seats for top tier built just painting and sticking into place, railings need painting before ad boards can go on.

Lower tier will be standing so crush barriers to go on.

Ainsty and killer b do the fans I need for standing terrace but seated figs will be harder to find I will probably have to convert most of them

Top work  indeed :) That floodlight is the absolute biz and having a record shop is just spot on...am looking forward to seeing all the pieces together.....could that row of houses be just begging for some TV aerials ?  ;)

Bowler reason I put it here is I think it's older than aggro thread and the aggro thread is monkeylites plus didn't want it on two threads but if everyone's happy with it on aggro thread then no problem I'll stop using this thread and put it on aggro instead.
