Title: Beware the Masai
Post by: scarabminiatures on October 23, 2014, 08:41:56 PM
Not quite as off topic as it might seem - theres a heap of photos and a battle report (and explanation!) against Early Imperial Romans  using War & Conquest here

Not weird at all and very inspiring.

In fact I read a book once ( can't remember the title but it was about gladiators) that described a 'battle' between proto? Masai and Roman animal hunters escorted by a small group of soldiers.
The Romans were wiped out.....

Thanks Gents

- Willie - its thought the contact between Romans and those 'proto Masai' was where they learnt some of the tactics of throwing weapon and shield combat - the tribes then migrated southwards where they eventually became the Masai.

Hence the background for a campaign in Nubia, and funny enough somewhere I bought a bunch of African animals years and years ago so perhaps I can factor them into a game somehow - a Roman raiding party  :D
