Title: IHMN for earlier periods?
Post by: Black Cavalier on October 27, 2014, 09:17:23 PM
Has anyone done any work on modifying IHMN for earlier periods, in particular the English Civil War or there abouts?

The armor would work the same, just disallow the higher armor types.  Almost all firearms & tech would have to go too.  & any companies would probably have to be written from scratch since almost all of the existing ones rely on firearms.

Thanks

Been toying with vague ideas for pushing IHMN back in time, but not as far as the ECW, only back to the 'Lace Wars' period, the mid-18th C. Gunpowder weapons are to be downgraded one level, i.e. 'normal' ones have the rate of fire of the blunderbuss in the rules, but there is a wide choice of historical 'advanced firearms' (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=62077.0) with the statistics of 'normal' Victorian weapons for your characters and specialists. As for companies, what about 'ancestors' of the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49766.0) and Torchwood (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=49673.0), for instance ? Movies set in diverse periods can also provide inspiration for several companies (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=64347.0)

Thanks for the response.

I didn't mean the companies would have to be from scratch because I didn't have ideas.  I meant that there were few existing VSF companies that could be easily ported to an ECW setting because they all rely heavily on firearms.

We do have some ideas, especially for the period 1618-48. Once we have got Daisho completed we may well be visiting this period.  :D

I am just about to start on an unofficial and of course free Fantasy supplement for the IHMN called "In my Lord's Name" (unless Crag read this and says no) I will be working on new armor and weapons, spells and leagues. Anything I make you are welcome too use if you make your own stuff.

Actually, for Renaissance period, I would think Ronin would work pretty well.

I'm trying to thrash out some rules for a modern zombie apocalypse type thing using the rules in the style of the Walking Dead comics. The rules are by a long way the most versatile rules I've ever come across and I think that any period could be covered almost without much adaptation. We're also using the IHMN rules at the moment for a Peaky Blinders related scenario in London, 1920 using Lord Curr Incorrigibles and Musketeer IRA
Thanks

As soon as we get the board finished I'll post up a Peaky Blinders AAR on my blog. As for the Zombie rules, as soon as they're finished and polished up I'm happy to put those up if Craig's happy with that. Over the weekend a new company using the Sanwar I got at battleground should be appearing on my blog as well, hopefully with some pictures of my own painted minis
Will share the expansion related stuff as soon as its all finished.
Hope this is of interest

Have I ever been unhappy with people publishing their own rules?  :D  Go for it mate.
