Great terrain - how do you store it?

what an absolutely beautiful layout!

it's a 'distressed' one-piece cloth over ... 'stuff' I think (like Olicana's setup, going by his posts)?

Assuming I'm correct,the more I see of that approach the more I feel it's the best overall 'look'.
Swings and roundabouts in terms of practicality in comparison with other, modular, styles no doubt, but aesthetically does it for me.

It is really hard not liking your stuff Axe.
Thanks a lot for sharing great pictures of nice miniatures and fine terrain with us.
Cheers

Thanks everyone for your kind and very appreciated feedback! :)

@Bill

If I'm not changing the climate I usually leave the cloth on the table and when I need the table freed up I simply roll it up and store it on a shelf. It's very easy to use and uses up very little space and is far easier then modular boards to both use and store.

@Bloggard

Indeed my cloth is similar to James(Olicana's) green cloth, but my cloth is far cheaper as he uses a pool table cloth which is of sterner material then mine and way more expensive! However, our method is almost exact in using spray paint to get the tonal texture we want. It's light and easy to change the terrain around for different scenario's and elevation's can be done by simply putting hills underneath. It's cheap to do, easy to maintain and a breeze to transport and store. The disadvantage is it's harder to represent river's, but I can live with that in comparison to the pluses. So yes, Imho I think it's overall the best way to tackle terrain boards, but I suppose I would say that. :D

Pool, Pool!  ;)

That, sir, is a billiard table cloth. 2m wide on the bolt, 97% Merino wool. It is actually far too expensive for this kind of thing (I got this faulty 7m length free through a company contact). I've been told that a 4m length will set you back around £600.

It's a great cloth that doesn't stretch and become distorted by having hill shapes under it for long periods - it just goes back to dead flat when they are removed - so I'd recommend the quality. It's just the price, so I'd search for suppliers of 'seconds', or perhaps contact a billiard table refurbishing company to see if they would sell you an old one they've just replaced. You don't need to worry about it having markings because you use the reverse side anyway, because it has a rougher, 'grassier' look. I know someone who has an old one. He hasn't used it yet because it is so full of old cue tip chalk - so you might need to wash an old one a few times.

Somehow I knew you were going to respond with it's a billiard table cloth and not a pool table cloth, but us colonials like to slang everything to the horror of our British friends. :) Your indeed correct and it should be called a billiard table cloth.

Thanks for the hint James and if the cloth I have wears out(hasn't yet) I'll for sure consider a second hand billiard table cloth if I can get it cheap enough.
