At a recent gaming get together, Just John revealed to me that he had a spare limited edition Citadel Space Santa. We made a deal and I bumped the model to the front of the painting queue.
I rushed the paint job somewhat in order to get it ready for what will likely be my final gaming session of 2014, so there are a few areas that could do with being neatened up a bit. Its still perfectly good enough for a few slightly early seasonal games all the same.

Despite the miniatures age (1985) it was a crisp casting and the sculpt was pretty well defined.
Also included is this photo of the model in the blister for you crazy folks who enjoy that sort of thing ;)

Really nicely done. Love the face.

Great paintjob on a great model.
I have the same model in blister. I really wish he wasn't in blister though. I am reluctant to open the blister, but I really want to paint him ;D

Very nice, mate.
:-* :-*
I remember that I really wanted that figure as a kid and my local shop sold out before I could get it.
:'(

Nice work there. You've had yours for 2 weeks and he's painted, mines been undercoated for a year. Typical. ;-)
Jonas - I give you permission to open that blisterpack. Release Santa!
Mason - I think they must have all ended up unsold in Ireland as I got my hands on a dozen or so unopened blisters a few years ago, so aplogies for ruining Christmas for you all those years ago :)

He looks great!
He also reminds me of the Necromunda Van Saar models (particularly the Heavies) as well...! lol

Thanks for the feedback folks. Its a fun little model, if you have one then I recommend painting it. It was straightforward and pleasant.

Thanks. The large features made painting the jolly fellows mug quite easy, like a dwarf.

Get stuck in Jonas! There isnt a better time to paint a Space Santa than mid-November :)

Im sorry to reopen twenty-nine year old wounds Mason ;) lol
I dont know if he currently has any more for trade, but maybe Just John can hook you up if he has any more. He used to have a dozen apparently :o

Well, like I said to Jonas, get stuck in then. Three evenings should be loads fo time to get him done. And failing that get the other one ready for Xmas 2015 and we can have a Santa-off scenario, kinda like a Double Impact or Twin Dragons sort of thing.

Its funny that you should mention that Major as I was discussing this morning how the model could have made a passable Fremen if I had been inclined to stray from the traditional palette and the Van Saars being obviously Dune inspired in some respects.

A paint job that does justice to an absolute classic!

It'll be time to dig out the Christmas themed mini pics soon then. I must get those kroot hounds done to go along with my santa krootmas.
Looking good as i said elsewhere Paul.

Very nice work :)

Man that is brilliant!
If, at some point, I find the time to go on vacation in Ireland we have to have a game!
-
Thanks folks. It was fun to paint an old classic that I never planned to own, even if it is a bit of a peculiar concept. I plan to play a scenario featuring the jolly chap tomorrow evening :)

Absolutely! Expect a PM if I manage to get some Danish free time too. A Pulp Alley game featuring Santa, dino-cyborgs, space cowboys, robots, goblin ninjas and the like would suit us both I think :)
Or maybe just loads of orks :D

Great Santa!
And can you guys please meet in Hamburg, I need to have a beer with both of you :D

Just John and I got together to play a few games last weekend. He decided to get his Santa painted in advance of the session, so the couple of festive Pulp Alley games each featured two rival old Space Santa models in addition to a womble, some Judges, robots, numerous space hobbits and an exotic dancer.

More photos here (http://sho3box.wordpress.com/2014/11/17/pulp-alleyantares-weekend/) for anyone interested. I suspect that Santa wont hit the table again for another twelve months at least. Probably.

WOW! Now that looks like one helluva Pulp Alley game! lol lol lol

Excellent! Beautifully painted miniatures, fantastic terrain, and two rival space Santas - what more could a gamer ask for?
Great stuff as always, Paul.
