What are gladiators fights without an arena. An arena printed on a poster is provided with Jugula rules but I wanted a real one, easy to transport.
Many gamers have experienced arenas in a box...here is my version with a cardboard hat box (5€ only).

I cut the box and kept the lid to make a second arena in the same box (2 arenas for the price of one).

Some of the elements I'll use.

More next time.

That's coming along very nicely!
-
Looking very promising so far.

This is a neat project. I saw that game at Historicon, it looks promising.
-
Nice ! What scale will it be, finally ?

Where did you source the statues? Figures or travel trinkets? Link? They look pretty good for statues.

The statues are oop Kinder Surprise miniatures bought on Ebay. Search for "Kinder Metal Roman".
Here is a list of available figures :

You can also find the same kind of miniatures here (or on EBay) :

The arena is finished and I could already play on it.
Here are the finished arenas : the main box and the lid.

The tokens, the roman dice and the first player token :

It's really easy to transport even if the miniatures, cards and the rulebook need to be in an another box.

That has come out really well.
Good sourcing of 'bits' too.

I really like your arena. I had no interest in roman/gladiators gaming until yet, but seeing such evocative scenery may change my mind !
-
Looks great, Eric :)
Very well done.
-
Great stuff. :)
-
Thanks to all of you. I am sure the same idea could be used for other games than gladiators arenas.
Hi Tobias ;)
-
Very cool and very compact. I love the final result. :) My own "arena in a box" style project has stalled since I've lost touch with the laser-cut guy I was working with. I need to get back in touch and get finished!

The perfect marriage of simplicity and detail. Well done. You did a fantastic job painting those marble pillars!
-
Exceptional, what a great little piece of modelling. Makes the game even more attractive.
