Title: Serpent men project and Thulsa Doom idol sculpt - WIP
Post by: ShortscaleDave on January 04, 2015, 08:46:19 PM: I found a load of minis from when I was a kid including some Rafm serpent men for COC. Got to painting them up for Strange Aeons and Matakishi's CROM rules (still WIP!!). I also found a Qui Gon Jin statue thing I got before I saw the prequels and decided it would come in useful as the base for a sculpt.

I decided my new serpent men needed an idol that would fit in with both Strange Aeons and CROM so opted for a rough take on the movie version of Thulsa Doom mid transformation. I might sculpt all over the figure with my own design and investigate how to make resin casts as I think I could do with 3 or 4 more really! Quite pleased with it so far :)

I have no idea! I don't even know where to begin with casting things. If it gets that far (and I re-sculpt all the qui gon detail) then by then I should have it figured out :)

Excellent work on it all, but the idol just blows me away with it's awesomeness!

More sculpting done (not ready for pics yet!) and I've been playing around with the 'hieroglyphs' on the base... literally just started so not finalised....and obviously not the upside-down 'david' ;)

Post by: diehard on January 06, 2015, 02:41:20 AM: Along with everyone else I must say your sculpting skills are most impressive. But I must also compliment your painting skills. While there are a few rough gems in the mix I was never a big fan of the RAFM CoC line, but I'm looking at those serpent men in a whole new light, definitely going to be adding those to my serpent cult. And as far as the glyphs go I gotta say that top version looks really nice. I'll add in my hopes that you eventually get this casted, and as always thanks for sharing.
