Hi all,
I seem to be in a phase of hobby right now that is focused on painting a fairly random assortment of figures...a little bit of commission work...some favors I'm doing for others...filling out a unit here or finishing one there. So as to not Bog down this forum with an individual thread for each of these small "projects" I've decided to start a general hobby thread thru which I can bore you with my ramblings.... ;D
Anyhoo...here is the first thing that I recently finished up. The John Pickford sculpt known as "Johann"
This is the second time I have painted this figure and I enjoyed it all over again...particularly the shield which is one of my favorite aspects of this figure.
Anyway...here is the pic ...more babbling can be found on the blog in my sig.
Cheers,
Blue

That is a FANTASTIC creation, Blue! The brushwork exceeds even your OH-SO-HIGH standards, & the base is LOVELY, but, for moi, it's your bold color choices that make the mini. AND the shield is a thing of beauty WONDROUS to behold. INCREDIBLY WELL DONE!
-
Looks great, Blue. I love the goldwork as well as the shield!
-
Stunning painting job, Blue, that shield is really something special!
-
That's some impressive contrast and blending :-*
-
:-* that looks great, I really love the shield, that's the guy with the optional beard right? I wasn't sure what to do with mine but I was leaning to with beard but seeing it without beard looking so good I don't know
-
Yeah to what the others said, but what on earth is a 'Painitng' ?????

Corrected.
Thanks all. more soon.

Wow just saw your personal copy on your blog, loving that conversion :-*
Have always thought he looks better with the beard, but it's a shame covering up that face, but your solution is just brilliant, not sure if I'm brave enough to try it myself but I really love what you did
-
More blue goodness, that shield is a work of art sir.
Cheers
Matt.

Thanks! As you mentioned it was a touch decision to make...my compromise was to have a beard but to make it look like hair for the breast plate as well. Don't be intimidated to try something similar...I'm a total noob with Green stuff and I managed to fake it. I'm sure you could too.
Thanks all!

Thanks all... ;) thats why I love LAF....ya'll are so supportive! It certainly helps keep me motivated.
Here is my latest effort...a contribution to a Community project over on the Oldhammer forum. A group of us are each picking and painting a figure that fits a common theme and color scheme (a Lawful warband in this case) then submitting it...and one lucky participant will be chosen at random to receive the entire group. There are some really amazing figures being entered.
Here is my humble contribution...one of the classic Citadel bowmen from the late 80's...I believe he was named "Edwin" in the early catalogs. I like him for his Robinhood like appearance...and portly stature...a touch of comedy sorely lacking in today's GW offerings. anyway...here he is.
basing is being left to the final recipient of the warband.

Very nice :)

Fantastic! Your choice of colour serves the miniatures really well and your painting is just great! I especially love how the shield on your dwarf warrior stands out from his armour, but still fits in so well.

Ok...it's been awhile...but I'm back with a small update. I've finished a few character models for my slowly growing Bretonnian force...here they are.
There are more pictures and some blathering about how they fit into my army on my blog

Sweet!

The Merry Outlaws look WONDERFUL as do all your creations...you are a Master of the Brush! I just found those Guys in one corner of the Vault; SO you've timed your INSPIRATIONAL WORK perfectly. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Errol's face is masterful! Nicely done blue.
Those three are a joy to paint aren't they?! They are smacked full of character.
Cheers
Matt.

Well... I certainly appreciate you saying that because I had more trouble with his eyes than I have ever had in any other figure. One night I swear I painted them and repainted them at least five times before I quit painting for the night in a flurry of cursing and anger. My wife was a little freaked out... Of course after forgetting about it for a few hours I went back and finished them on the first attempt...but this was the closest I've ever come to throwing a mini against the wall!
Thanks for the kind words all.

This guy is technically a Rogue Trader Astropath...but he could work for some kind of "seer" for fantasy games as well...I painted him as part of a 1-Hour Challenge...though he took me 1.25 to complete... ::) I will finish up the base...varnish this guy and then will post up complete photos soon.
Anyway...here he is more info on my Blog:http://bluesmarauders.blogspot.com/2015/03/blues-one-hour-challenge-rt-astropath.html

In 1.25 hours I'd have it barely black coated! :) Very nice job, I wait for a pic of the finished one.
I loved your work on the bretonnians: the transition on red cloacks is amazing! :-*

Works very well :)

I really like your interpretation of that figure Blue, excellent.

Here are a couple of Bood-Wargames Dwarfs that I had the opportunity to paint up...great figures...that should be released in the not too distant future via a Crowd Funding campaign.
