Well, I need to say a BIG thank you to all at West Wind Productions for sorting my War & Empire pledges out. The minis are fantastic and I can not wait to get some paint onto the 500+ minis that I have!
The range is very good with all major troop types covered, the sculpts are very crisp, great detain and very little flash.
I'll post some pictures once I set some colour on them!

Glad you got your order and are happy with it, still got quite a wait for mine. Feedback so far seems very positive. Feel free to post pictures of your haul in bare lead just as a teaser for now :P.

Exciting to hear details popping up. I eagerly await my order. I think this KS has single handedly put WW on the top of the 15mm ancients totem. HUGE high quality range.
-
Ok the first update, a large pile of lead! Just over 500 figures awaiting the attention of blade and brush.
I did start on them just after taking the picture, beginning with the Valites. Great minis, little flash and great detail and they take paint very well!
-
So I have got some paint on my new kickstarter War and Empire Romans.
First up Roman Velites
-
The second unit of Roman Velites
-
To go with the Roman Legions I will have two allied Legions, here are their velites
-
The final offering, a second unit of Italian allied velites
-
Thanks for posting. Lovely looking units you've got there, great start.

I was wondering how their new range would turn out. I like what I am seeing so far.

I have Romans and Gauls and both ranges look great.....
-
I took a bit of everything. I just love them so far. So easy to paint, lots of details, variety... they remind me of Old Glory, but with a better sculpting and animation (ie no weird poses) :)
-
Nice start to an army, but for me getting 500 new figures in one go would be a nightmare!
I would know for certain that before i had the project half finished my enthusiasum would have moved on to my next project.
Good luck anyway.

They look great. Really nice work.

They're turning out great. I always admire people who can order a ton of figures and work through them consistently. I find I get overwhelmed and have switched to a lot more smaller purchases made after I paint what I have.
I'm trying to figure out what ancients to do after my Sumerians are done. This period is definitely tempting me.

Nathan,
The new War and Empire range are fantastic and give you lots of options for armies. They should be on general release soon!

The first batch have been painted and given a coat of Army Painter Dark Tone. All that needs doing is to finish the bases, my least favorite part of all!
Here are 192 Hastati, 48 for each legion.......2 Roman and 2 Allied. You can blame my megalomania on on the fantastic Olicanalad's Blog, http://olicanalad.blogspot.com/ by John Roach.
Still to do 192 Principes, 64 Triarii and 48 Cavalry
-
Impressive collection. 8)
Stuart.

Here are 192 Hastati.....they are divided into 4 legions, 2 Roman, red and white shields and 2 Allied, blue and yellow.
I have chosen 5 smock colours as I am with the school of thought that if they were responsible for equipping themselves there would be a range of colours used.
To come 192 Principes, 64, Triarii and 24 Cavalry......now that is Legion! lol

They look great, very fast work. I really like the mixed tunic colours because it gives them a slightly ad hoc appearance. Is that a simple block colour followed by army painter or have you added some highlights as well?

It's simple block paint and then a good coat of Army Painter Dark Tone. Once dry, given at least 24hrs given a spray matt varnish finish

I haven't tried the Army Painter yet but I will give a try when my order from West Wind arrives. Thanks.

Two more parts of my Punic Wars Roman army completed, the Roman Legion (red shields) Triarii and Equestrians. These are one unit per legion.
Really happy with these.
