An after-battle report of a game using the (2009) AK47 Republic rules. We've only recently started playing them, this was our second game, but so far it's been a really good ruleset. The action moves along quickly and there's plenty of decisions to make.

Great scenery and figures (both sculpts and painting). You prove that 15mm is a very good (and good looking) alternative for post war wargaming !

Very kind of you. We decided on 15mm for ease of storage for the scenery, and it meant less time taken getting the figures on the table and building the scenery. It was a bit of a saga getting the figures together, which explains why I ended up with so many different manufacturers. It would have been great to have done it in 28mm, as well as being easier to get the figures. And the Empress figures are truly amazing.
The T-55 passengers are from the Old Glory technical crew pack.

You know, even in 20mm, when you want something a bit exotic (=not afghanistan-modern US-rhodesia) it can be a bit tricky to find specific minis too !

your afghans are a mix of Old Glory and Khurasan? Or you have also something else?

The Afghans are a mix of just about everyone that makes them. There's Khurasan, Flashpoint, Flytrap Factory, Irregular, MJ Figures and Old Glory. I'd say Khurasan, Flashpoint and Flytrap are the best.

Does AK47 republic necessary need multibased minis ? What is the"perfect" scale for it (platoon, company, squad...) ?
I readed interesting on this game, like apparently you don't know how long will last the game ?

The game has a variable ending. At the end of every defender's turn, the defender rolls a d6. You keep adding the numbers rolled and when the total gets to 21 the game ends. So a game on average will last 6 turns, but it could be longer or shorter.
I think you could probably play it with single figures instead of bases, in 28mm for example. Indeed, I was thinking it would be good for a quirky period like VBCW. Each base represents a squad, more or less, and these are grouped into platoons of 3 bases, with a number of platoons making up a 'unit.' But this doesn't really matter, the game is mainly for combat between semi-organised militias.
