Title: Adobe buildings
Post by: Terrible Tim on September 16, 2008, 10:47:32 AM
I am putting together a small western town. I found a local Australian company that sells resonably price MDF Adobe "sand" buildings. I would like to know: Apart from Mexico, were there any American states that had Adobe dwellings? And would you see the trditional "western" style buildings and Adobe in the same town? Pictures would help  :D. I ask this because I want to get a few Hovel or Arnica buildings latter.

CNC Workshop, the buildings will need small mods to look more Mexican like:

From my limited knowledge  you would find adobe in Texas, New Mexico and Arizona as well as Mexico.

Westerns are always a good source of info - So its a Hollywood viewpoint, but it depends on what sort of game you are looking for. Rio Bravo - (John Wayne) features a town with traditional timber clad buildings and a Mexican quarter with Adobe dwellings.

As Malamute says, they were pretty common throughout the SW USA - LA and Vegas also have some historic adobe buildings, so it's a safe bet that they were used extensively in California too.
