Title: What gauge for 28mm?

Hi
I'm looking to use railway scenery for a 28mm game. What gauge or scale of railway building would people advise for this scale?

O does look good in most cases, but watch out with O-scale buildings as the doors will often look far too tall, necessitating some slight modification. Other scenery, such as plants or street furniture look good in O scale.

When you place our minis next to O gauge track that's when it becomes rapidly apparent that it is to big for our 28mm mini. Many scenery items are perfectly usable but as far as being readily available its a reasonable option. If you are modeling Old West or turn of the century say up through WWI then I would lean towards On30, narrower track, smaller cars and engines that are more suited towards our needs.

Right. I think I understood Blofeld is asking about scenery and not trains, but yes, O Scale trains are far too large for the tabletop.

I'd go with O.  Folks are correct that some of the doorways will be too tall, but if you're dealing with minis on bases (especially 3mm slottas), they look quite natural.  The compressed footprint of most O "scale" buildings will look just fine.

Also, when dealing with O trains, the pricey, truely 1/48 scale trains are pretty huge looking. However, alot of the 0 gauge  trains (especially the starter sets intended for 0-27 layouts) are quite undersized.  As well as being more affordable, they tend to be very close to 28mm scale.

I always thought O gauge trains were ok for 28mm hero style with the oversized body parts and such like Warhammer figures, true scale 1:48 might look smallish next to the trains tho, and yeah, the tracks are a bit wide if you are going with "true" scale items...
