I'm going to use this thread to post up my mix of painted supers,
Most are going to be repainted Heroclix for use in heroclix, or repainted and rebased for
Use in SuperSystem.
First up is living monolith
Regards
Jim
-
Nice work on the skin tones.
-
Cheers von lucky,
Another one for heroclix, Shadow King
Regards
Jim
-
both really nice. Got to love repainted clix!!
-
Nicely done sir. :)
-
Thanks guys,
Charlie-27 from the comics version of the guardians of the Galaxy
Regards
Jim
-
The original Guardians are some of my favourites! A lot of people write 'clix off because they're mass produced pre-paints, but there are some great sculpts available in there if you look. Nice work.
-
I agree, Heroclix are often quite well done.
Excellent Repaints!

So true ! And a lot of clix are extra cheap too.
-
Totally agree. A lot of them get a bad rep for not having detail, but I usually find that it's
because the factory paint is often very thick. If they are stripped you often find a lot of hidden
detail.
Anyway, phantom girl from the legion of superheroes

That's for sure. I'm just finishing off my original Alpha Flight team and my Vindicator figure it literally caked with super thick paint. She looks like she's wearing a snow suit! I have to strip it off before I can really be sure what I'm working with.
Great job on Phantom Girl. Shading white always gives me fits. Out of curiosity, is there a method to the madness of what figures you're choosing to repaint? Seems pretty random to me.
-
Thanks.
My choices are purely down to what figures I like the look of. I'm very partial to figures which
show powers being used in some way, so monolith is huge, phantom girl phasing through something, shadow king manifesting his psychic self eye.
I also like the 'classics' too, so the iconic supers appeal too

Jim

Nice stuff - I agree the Clix can be good. Don't want to hijack the thread, but is there a good Batroc the Leaper Clix figure? The one I saw has a pose I didn't much like. :?

Thanks - the comic version is the pose I didn't like; didn't know about the other version. :D
-
Puuka beat me to it, I agree the movie one is probably better,
But I have a soft spot for the cheesy characters of my youth 😘
Regards
Jim
-
I like the cheesy old Batroc style, but disliked the pose of the Clix figure with the transparent bit - but this is a great paintjob on the high-kicking fellow.
Can the transparent support be removed without harming him too greatly?
Incidentally - the pose is taken straight out of a comic panel, so I shouldn't fuss :-X :D
-
Vanvlak, if you remove the support it leaves a big square-ish plug to be filled.
All I did was texture over it with the same ground work I use on figure bases.
I've based him up for use in SuperSystem

Jim

Sounds promising! I might get himafter all. Many thanks :D (wish we had a smiley with a Batroc moustache)

Today I present Weapon-x

Today I present Weapon-x
Regards
Jim
No mods for his Rocket Hands?
-
No, I thought the stock model filled my "showing a power" fetish already, although now
You've planted the idea I may have to convert one of my spares 😜
Regards
Jim

There were a few people that cut them off, put them on speech bubble bases and had them out on the map. Worked great with Iron Monger 2.0
-
That's excellent Puuka, your like the little angel on the shoulder whispering..... 8)
Latest repaint for clix, Animus
Regards
Jim
-
Where's her counterpart Vamp? :D
-
I haven't managed to get the clix vamp model yet😔
I have just finished another hero for my SuperSystem games. I run a team of my own devising, the United-super-nations. It's composed of over the hill, underpowered or useless
Heroes all country themed. It's a lot like the legion of substitute heroes.
I present "Greece Lightning" I use him as basically an over the hill, knock off grade superman
The model is from Wargames Supply Dump, in their miscellaneous figures line.
Regards
Jim
-
I love it.
-
Neat costume scheme on that last one.
-
Thanks guys,
Another member of the United-Super-Nations, China Bull
He's a very old monster in my pocket Minotaur model re-purposes for SuperSystem
Regards
Jim
-
Nice work! Been enjoying the posts...
-
Nice work - especially the Greek cloak 8) 8) 8)
-
Thanks!
Another clix repaint for use in SuperSystem, wasp from the very first heroclix set, infinity challenge
Regards
Jim
-
Today's update, crossover miniatures ' Ram Jam' painted up to join my U-S-N as
Japan-droid
Regards
Jim
-
Nice work - I have that last model and had very different plans, now I'm VERY undecided. 8) 8) 8)
-
Exceptional painting. Absolutely corking stuff :-*
Please keep 'em coming :-)
-
Cheers guys,
I've just finished another of rustis crossover miniatures to join my U-S-N,
I present Cuban Missile
Regards
Jim
-
Awesome brushwork and VERY creative names :) Great work, I haven't seen Fury for a little while.
Thanks for sharing!
-
I almost would have gone with Cuban Miss-L
-
Thanks Rusti :)
Puuka, that's a fantastic name, I missed that while thinking up names. Cool!
Anyway, latest is a cut-rate sidekick cyclops figure for the U-S-N, the Eye-talian.
The body is crossovers 'the kid' with a spare laser visor head from defender
Regards
Jim
-
Love the name Eye-Talian.
-
Genius naming and cracking brushwork as ever!
-
Cheers guys!
Soapy:- if you didn't make them such great sculpts and fun to paint I wouldn't have to come up with inventive cheesey themes and names to match :D
Regards
Jim
-
Today's entry is another crossover miniature, Everest. Painted up to join my U-S-N
As Bolivian Neutron Bomb ( yes, I apologise lol )
Regards
Jim
-
Nice. Had to look up that; it's a band?
-
It's a poor country based pun on Olivia Newton john,
Showing my age
Regards
Jim
-
Haha - awesome. (There's actually a band called Bolivia Neutron Bomb - that name is obvious a reference to Sandy D.) My engine is still warming up this morning.
-
Finished another crossover miniature for the U-S-N and I'm stretching the country definition
a little with Psi-Beria
Regards
Jim
-
You're whites are great.
Why the colour choice (I just hunted down Siberian flags)?
-
Cheers Von L,
It's just the flag of Siberia, green over white at a corner to corner angle. There are a couple
Of others with the same scheme, but they didn't look as good imo.
Regards
Jim
-

Regards

And you got to call him Psi-Beria.
-
Ah - I should have Googled images - instead of used Wikipedia. Sweet.
-
Another Crossover miniatures model today, rusti's whiskers. I'll be using her in SuperSystem
as the villain ' Bad Kitty!'
Regards
Jim
-
I like your paint style, they look great.
-
Thanks.
A diversion from the U-S-N today into Mars attacks/ judge dredd territory
I give you a Martian leader, Judge Martian and a dead martian to use as an objective marker or scenery. Really like the figures from mantic, but those bubble domes are a real pain, I couldn't find a way to make them fit properly, they were way too wide at the bottom to start with and after cutting down aren't even. Any way...
Regards
Jim
-
Today I've finished another Crossover miniature for my U-S-N. The female cyborg super
from South America, Argent Tina
Regards
Jim
-
Great eyes on the cat; and great show all round.
8) 8) 8)
-
You keep going from strength to strength and putting my measly painting output to shame! Keep it up! :o
-
You should do a large armoured character and call him Tin-Canada
-
Thanks very much,
Puuka: filed away for later use :)
Today another crossover mini, I'm using him as a mentalist villain in SuperSystem
May I present 'Think Tank'
Regards
Jim
-
nice work... really enjoy your paint jobs
-
Very nice colour scheme on that one, always loved the blue and orange combo. 8) 8) 8)
-
Cheers Vanvlak,
Today I present an enemy of the U-S-N, ' Rossiyskiye Massy ', he's going to be
A SuperSystem version of multiple man. Another of Rustis Crossover miniatures
Regards
Jim
-
Once again, very nice - I like the differentiated suits onthe multiples.
This thread has become a regular stop for me 8) 8) 8)
-
Cheers Vanvlak!
Yup, I figured they needed to look slightly different but still the same. The guy in the middle will be used as the villain when not using his multiple power and the other 2 were his doppelgangers. I will need to track damage on them separately so needed a differentiator
Regards
Jim
-
One of my favorite superhero topics !
-
Thanks guys,
Today I'm back to repainted Heroclix to use with my brand new copy of SuperSystem 4th edition.
It's poison ivy, weirdly, I only noticed how big her eyes are after taking the photo,
I'm going to have to narrow them with a top eyelid.
Regards
Jim
-
Some fine black lining will give her the right sensual look :D
-
That's a good idea Sundayhero, I might go with green eyeliner as its poison ivy.
Another super for the tabletop today. He's a medieval knight bounced forward in time to the 1970s where he learnt everything he knows from Dirty Harry films, I present
Sir Clint of the East Wood.
He's a fireforge knight body with a head from a heroclix boomerang figure and the gun hand
From a plastic bolt action ww2 british officer. I see him as similar to marvels black knight
Regards
Jim
-
I love Sir Clint, great concept. Are you using SuperSystem to play with these?
-
Thanks hat guy. Yup, been a big fan of SuperSystem since 1st edition and played them all, on and off. I just got my soft back copy from lulu of 4th edition, so hope to give it a Run out soon.
Also waiting for my pulp city kickstarter stuff to try that out. And my copy of knight models batman game, to try that too. ::)
I'm a bit of a super hero gaming tart really.
Don't get me onto supers role playing. I think I own every system ever commercially
Available.
Regards
Jim
-
I can honestly say that if you liked SuperSystem v3 you will probably like Power Legion. Not that you need any more rule sets for super hero gaming...I have all the same ones you listed and they're all good. Each one does things a little bit differently but still has a good comic book flavour.
-
Cheers for the recommendation Obsidian3d, I'm a fan of andreas rules, so think it'll be pretty
Good, whether or not they become my rules of choice will depend on how it plays on the table.
My latest super is a heroclix repaint which I'll be using for clix games, Avalanche
Regards
Jim
-
A five for one deal today :D
Regards
Jim
-
It's the holy grail of miniature gaming - excellent quality and high output (compared to my own output, at least). I don't know how you're managing to do it, but it all looks great. Good bold colors on all of these, and the names are puntastic. What's not to like?
-
Thanks Hawkeye,
In the interests of truth, I'll have to point out that the last picture was of a commission that
Was finished a while ago, but thought I'd include it in this thread.
Today's update was just finished, he's a reaper bones cyborg gorilla figure I'll be using in SuperSystem. Brace yourselves:-
The evil Dr.Simian has been working on producing cyborg ape minions, his first seven experiments failed, but the next was a success, I present Prime-8!
( I apologize lol )
Regards
Jim
-
Oh that's grand - enough to make up for the Prime-8 name lol
I own the same model, could never finish him that well. 8) 8) 8)
-
You could grab some Horrorclix Lab Gorillas and Heroclix Gorilla City Warriors to do some arm repositions and make Primes 1-8 as lesser minions
-
Thanks Puuka, I already have a thing for super apes, so that's right up my particular alley lol
Regards
Jim
-
Found this too, which has some Lab Gorillas as well as a Beast and Colossus with head swaps. Not sure what the white one on the left is. Might be an Gorilla Grodd modified.
https://www.flickr.com/photos/28450894@N05/3507185289.
-
I've already got a few horrorclix lab gorillas. Really like the beast mod in the photo,
Great find Puuka, I'm going to have to steal that chaps beast idea
Thanks for that
Regards
Jim
-
Another Crossover miniatures super today, I see her as a bit of a roving 'gun for hire'
Character, not necessarily a villain or hero, Blaise!
Regards
Jim
-
Today an alien from CP models, he's an advance scout for a civilisation that picked up our broadcasts and has disguised himself as someone from one of Earths documentaries,
Security officer Grey
Regards
Jim
-
Heh, wonder which Earth documentary that uniform comes from :D :D :D
Quirky and unusual - 8) 8) 8)
-
Ha nice. I wonder if he enjoyed watching those historical documents.
-
A repainted Dr. Doom today, he's a heroclix re-purposes for use in SuperSystem
Regards
Jim
-
Who knows what evil lurks within the hearts of men?
Reapers bones Shadow does....
Regards
Jim
-
Dr Doom and the Shadow in 24 hours! That's a treat 8) 8) 8)
-
Both look really nice. I forgot about that clix Doom. He's a well sculpted model!
-
Very nice job with Doc Doom. Heroclix seems to have a lot of really good Doom sculpts.
-
Cheers guys, have to agree on Doom, they've done him several times and quite a few
are excellent sculpts.
Another heroclix rebased for SuperSystem today, scarlet spider
Regards
Jim

You have some of the finest superhero/ villain paintjobs there are out there. The Shadow has always been a favourite of mine, got that one myself but I painted him red/ black and call him The Crimson Shade (Power Legion ruleset and basically same powers).
Crap photo though :?

Thanks very much Legionnaire,
I like your take on the reversed colours, definitely the way to go for a 'based on'
character.

Cheers Jim, I'm quite happy with it an might actually do another one because the Reaper Bones are so affordable :D. Power Legion is a really good ruleset too and very thankful to stat up your Hero/ Villain with! Abilities range from D4-D20 so if you have a concept clear, just pick the appropriate level of Stat/ Ability and tally up the point cost at the end, based off SoBH engine with a few extras, depending on how well you succeeded you get to choose a Minor effect (1-3pts) or a Major Effect (4+), essentially you roll dice vs dice (no pools here!) and the highest win. Only had one test game so far but it ran really smooth and fast lol

-
Cheers Legionnaire,
Enjoyed the photo comic style bat-rep.
Today is another heroclix repainted but still for use in clix, Blob from the brotherhood of evil mutants
Regards
Jim
-
And heroclix Jennifer kale
Regards
Jim
-
I don't know that character. She looks a lot like Snowbird.
-
She's a mystic character, sister of son of satan.
Regards
Jim
-
Santana is the sister of Damien Hellstorm, Son of Satan. Jennifer Kale has ties to Man-Thing, Howard the Duck, and the Ghost Riders. I remember her being pretty important to Man-Thing and Howard.
-
Everything is still top notch Jim! What an awesome thread :o
-
Thanks very much wellender:- long time since I read Howard and man thing, glad to be put straight ( despite Howard the duck being one of my all time faves)
Cheers Rusti, still loads more to go yet, I've got a bin full of supers to paint including all of yours.
Today it's a group shot of a commission I finished quite a while ago but only just found the file it was hiding in
Regards
Jim
-
That Magneto is great. I always like that sculpt too.
-
I like em all. Falcon in particular for me just stands out.
Great job as always.
Grimm
-
Wow - that set is grand - can't choose a favourite! 8) 8) 8)
-
Yet again more proof that Heroclix have some great models to be found within their ranks. Those paint jobs really show them off. Great work. I always enjoy seeing photos of your work.
-
Cheers chaps 8)
Today it's another group shot, the 4 on the left are 'handful of heroes' figures and the one on the right is a heroclix figure.

I think the Catman Veteran (with two knives) is a really, really cool figure :D
-
Nice job! How did you paint them up? I have some of those Handful of Heroes but haven't gotten around to painting any yet.
-
Cheers chaps 8)

Second on the left is Ironclad from clix.
-
Thanks Puuka, same character but different model, he's definitely from handful of heroes. The pose is almost exactly the same. The HoH one is also quite a bit bigger than the clix one.
If you look at his pecs, the HoH one has prominent veins and the clix one doesn't.
Regards
Jim

I'm surprised they even bothered making such a little known character in HoH.
-
I know, there's a few others you could best describe as 'second string' in the range. My favourite is their version of Bi-beast lol

I liked theirs better than the clix one.

Mirror master from flashs rogues gallery, just a heroclix repaint
Regards
Jim
-
Nicely done. I haven't been able to track down that particular figure. He proved quite popular from that set.
-
Thanks obsidian3d,
Yeah, it took me a while to get him, but it's a very cool figure, the surface is actually mirrored,
Gives a great effect with the actual reflection.
Today Jackeem Thunder and his genie
Regards
Jim

Such a fun clix piece in his day. Do you keep him on his first click with prob control, or push him to his second for Perplex with a 19 defense with Defend?
-
I'm a big fan of probability control in clix, I like anything that allows re-rolls :-I
Today I've finished rusti's crossover Dr. Maniac as my SuperSystem villain HighBräu
Regards
Jim
-
Amazing work as usual! Here is my tribute to Jim, The Jim Cockburn Gallery!
http://crossoverminiatures.com/gallery/
-
I'm curious about the way you do your bases. They're very unique and I was wondering if you have some reasoning behind why you do them that way?
-
@fergal:- thanks very much Rusti, I'm blushing with boyish embarrassment ::)
@0bsidian3d:- it was originally to make them match with some scenery at a club I went to,
They had one urban battlefield, one dessert-y one and a fair few green ones. I needed something that wouldn't look out of place on either of the 2 we were likely to have for supers gaming, they grey or the sandy one. But I've found since that it looks okay on most scenery boards.
Today it's another Crossover mini and another member of the U-S-N, crossovers wisteria
Painted as the nature mage English Rose
Regards
Jim
-
Today I finished Rusti's Dark Avenger as my dubious hero/villain D'ceit.
( and yes, those are batman colours. I only realised as I was painting the belt yellow that I'd
subconsciously stolen the colour scheme)

Could also be a male Raven from Teen Titans.
-
Puuka: that's a great idea! Hadn't thought of that,
he reminded me of spectre and I'd originally
Thought of doing him with a white and green scheme.
Regards
Jim
-
Another crossover mini, Rusti's Bobbi Dazzler.
I'll be using her as a mage by the name of Abra-ca-Deborah lol
Regards
Jim
-
This could be my favorite one yet! I'm terrible at choosing color schemes, but you seem to be able to see their true colors, I would never have thought about his combo, Ecellent!
-
Thanks Rusti!
I'm on a bit of a crossover minis kick at the moment, just finished your wild girl
As my brawler hero 'Barb'
Regards
Jim
-
Still churning out super supers.
-
Cheers von Lucky,
I actually finished it a few days ago, but thought I'd best check with the mods first just in case it was in breach of the rules. Today I present one of HighBräus minions, Robo-Hitler, he's a CP models historical figure Re-purposed.
Regards
Jim
-
Another Crossover mini today, rusti's Dr. e-vil.
May I present the special superhero representative of Her Majesty, her defender against
inter dimensional threats who has been knighted for his efforts protecting the UK,
Sir Walter R'Lyeh....
Regards
Jim
-
Hah. Love the name (and the painting - but that almost goes without saying now. Almost).

thats my favorite mini from crossover. Nice paint work as always and love the name.
-
Thank you guys!
Today it's another crossover mini. He swoops into battle to the guitar and organ riffs of
In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida, It's Iron Butterfly :D
Obviously named after the band, the colour scheme is from the cover of their fourth album
Metamorphosis
Regards
Jim
-
This dude is AWESOME, the wings figuratively blow me away, superb job!
-
Wow, I was thinking something similar but you really pulled that one off, my favorite!
-
OK, that's the best yet here, and that IS saying something 8) 8) 8)
-
Just scrolled through since I last checked the thread; some great stuff. I particularly live the not-Shadow, Mirror Master and Abra-ca-Deborah. :)
-
Iron Butterfly is awesome. Great work on the wings!
-
Thanks very much guys. I was very pleased with how iron butterfly came out.
Today I've finished another crossover minis flyer, I'm calling him Bold Eagle,
Not as effective a colour scheme as iron butterfly, but I think it suits the figure
Regards
Jim
-

Gonna have a sidekick called Vanilla Judge that keeps hanging on? :-D
-
Now I'm going to have to try and find a be-wigged head for that idea Legionnaire lol
Another crossover mini, the shootist marksman 'Bang-Bang Maxwell'
Regards
Jim
-
Another great pj there. :)
-
Thanks Leon!
Another crossover mini, I figured this guy for an overly haughty cold projecting type,
I present Imperial Blizzard.

One of the best clix sculpts for Nightwing. From Crisis.
-
More great work with Imperial Blizzard and Nightwing. :)
-
Absolutely stunning stuff as usual, and cranking it out by the dozen!!!! One of my favourite go-to threads here :D.
-
Goodness. Incredible painting!
-
Thanks guys, and esp Puuka, I can't always remember what set they come from and it's helpful to anyone trying to hunt them down.
Today it's Turtle from the Flash heroclix recent release.
Regards
Jim
-
I love playing that Turtle with Omen. She doesn't need line of fire to mind control a figure, so she can make them move the 5 or more and get that extra token/take a click of damage. Salvatore Maroni fro the Dark Knight Returns set also can MC through terrain as well
-
That's very sneaky Puuka :o
Today it's another clix repaint but still for use in Heroclix, Atlas
Regards
Jim
-
Great tones on him (all colours). How many supers do you have painted compared to the unpainted ones?
-
Thanks Von Lucky,
Ooooh, good question, I have several figures cases of painted supers, but they are far outweighed by the box upon box of unpainted clix, handful of heroes, superfigs, crossover minis and all the other metal figures.
I pretty much buy every super I see released. I think it comes from playing champions back in the day when there were no superhero models available to us in the UK. We had to re-purpose
Fantasy figures. There were a lot of "black knight" style guys in our group lol
Regards
Jim
-
Atlas is cracking, very vibrant tone and colours on him. Although I'm pretty unfamiliar with the character (I used to read lots of DC but not so much lately).
Just out of interest, I've tried to strip a couple of Heroclix of the paintjob and sometimes it went well, a Clayface III broke though when I scrubbed him due to very brittle plastic... Do you usually strip your clix and how long on average, considering the rate you crank them out at, does it take you to paint a figure?
-
Thanks very much Legionnaire,
I only strip them if the factory paint job is obviously too thick, obscuring details etc,
Otherwise I just clean up mould lines and gap fill when necessary.
It's hard to say how long they take as I've usually got anywhere up to 50 figures on the go
at any one time and I flit about between them as I paint, for instance I've currently got
11 crossover minis on the go right now.
Most days I finish at least 1 super amongst the other painting, most painting days I finish about 10
Figures in total and I get time at my desk prob 4 days a week
Regards
Jim
-
I've painted over clix (primed them first) but I haven't had luck stripping them what do you strip them with and how long do you keep them in?

A 20-30 second dunk in acetone then scrubbed with a toothbrush and washed in detergent is
All I've ever found was needed. Don't leave them too long in the acetone as it can destroy some of them.
If they feel soft or tacky after the wash leave them for a day or so and they harden up again and stop being tacky
Hope it helps
Regards
Jim
-
Yes it does I was afraid to use acetone I thought it would destroy them.
-
Acetone is nasty stuff however, so do exercise caution with it and dispose of it safely as well.
-
I'd wear a mask and do it in a well ventilated area too. The fumes are pretty bad.
-
Yup, echoing what obsidian3d and wellender said. Definitely follow simple safety advice on
the bottle. I've found you don't need to worry about disposal though, it evaporates quickly, I pour any unused back into the original bottle and eventually it runs out with nothing left over.

Jim

Great work on the figs!
To strip, use simple green or deep purple (cleaning stuff), works safe for plastic and metal as well as resin...soak for a few hours or overnight, test one figure first to make sure there are no issues but all the paint should bleach off or fall right off with a toothbrush and warm water.
-
I have never had Simple Green work on Clix. I just end up with really clean figures. Acetone is the only thing I have ever had work.
-
Didn't post an update for a while as I've been away at a gaming event, so here's the latest,
Blok from the Superman and the legion of superheroes heroclix set.
Rebased and repainted for use in SuperSystem
Regards
Jim
-
I've always liked that Nightwing sculpt but thought he was a little too beefy for the character. The repaint looks great though!
-
Thanks obsidian3d, I agree, he's very beefy for nightwing. I think it'd make a great base figure for a captain americavor daredevil conversion though.
Today I present a repurposed clix, crime syndicates Owlman from the latest DC fast forces
Pack
Regards
Jim
-
Very nice.
-
Thanks KT,
Another clix repaint, to use in heroclix so still on original base, it's Batgirl
Regards
Jim
-
I love Batgirl and you have done a great job on her.
-
Cheers 8)
I've just finished this guy from Crossover, Nick Danger agent of Scutum,
Regards
Jim
-
And today's re painted and rebased clix figure is every bodies favourite green lantern,
Ch'p

Jim

Fantastic, as always - love that last one!

Thanks Hawkeye,
Another of rusti's crossover minis today,

Thanks Hawkeye,
Another of rusti's crossover minis today,
Touchey Feeley,
Regards
Jim
He could be French and go by Touche Feely maybe lol lol lol!!!
Stunning work as usual, and I think Nick Danger looks VERY much like the Nick Fury I remember...
-
Thanks Legionnaire,
Yup, he bears a striking resemblance to fury lol
Today I've finished these three. Again crossover miniatures, Rusti's Viridian Guardians
painted up as evil intergalactic ring wielding troublemakers, I present the Illumin-naughty!
Regards
Jim
-
Ha ha, I think you'll have to make a team up between Touchy-Feelie and the Illumi-naughty. Anything else would wouldn't be right!
-
Lovely stuff on this page. What's the under colour of your yellows?
-
You are unstoppable! These guys continue to go from strength to strength!
-
Your work highlights the simple brilliance of Crossover Miniatures! I love the clean lines, and your paint work really brings them to life!
-
The bright colors like the yellows are very nice how many coats are they?
-
Great minis!!
Where do you buy those in Europe..?
Or are they ordered in the us..
Thank you
-
Thanks very much for the kind words super-chaps,
@ von Lucky and kid terminal, the colours are usually 3 or 4 stages, with the yellow it is foundry ochre yellow A as the base, then highlighted up using their B & C shade, then a final
Highlight of their lemon yellow C.
@harleyface, I got all the Crossover minis originally from backing all of Rusti's kickstarters.
I've since bought some duplicates ( for alternate colour schemes etc ) from Minibits in the UK.
Very fast and efficient service.
@fourcolorfigs, rustis sculptors do a great job, as you say, they keep them nice and 'clean'
Designed, makes it easy to vary how they are painted and put your own spin on the super. They remind me a lot of the Superfigs line, but you can't find those over here anymore 😢
Regards
Jim
-
Very nice on the color choices, never got that good with highlights like that. Hat tipping work there.
-
Cheers Styx!
Been away from my supers for a little while with Easter hols and family commitments.
Now I'm back with a duo.
Jack and Jacqueline Bee were ordinary teenagers until one night there house was hit by a mysterious glowing alien rock which, instead of killing them, granted them super powers.
Jack gained amazing speed and his twin sister gained unearthly dexterity and acrobatic skills.
Fighting crime together I present Jac B Nimble and Jack B Quick ::)
Edit:- forgot to say, these are both from rustis crossover miniatures line again
Regards
Jim
-
The painting is as wonderful as the puns are painful. ;D
-
I try my best with the naming KT lol
Another crossover mini today, the infiltration and espionage expert Lady Midnight
Regards
Jim
-
I'd recommend tracking down one of the old Mage Knight "Lobster-Kin" for a Middle Eastern Antihero; Iraq Lobster! ;)
-
Oh that hurt!
-
Hat Guy:- that is right on the money naming wise :-*
I had a look on eBay and a couple of clix sellers but no sign of a lobster kin :?
Latest repaint, a joker thug henchman for clix
Regards
Jim

I haven't seen that clix! Great job on the clown face.

Maybe Jill B Nimble and Jack B Quick as it could be confusing with "Get Jack", "Which Jack, Jack or Jac??" "JUST GET THEM!!!" lol lol lol lol
-
Thanks very much
@Legionnaire, I picture the characters referring to them as "nimble" or "quick" to avoid confusion :)
Another heroclix repaint today for use in clix. I've always liked Magnetos brotherhood of evil mutants. One of their members, Destiny
Regards
Jim
-
Like the new one in Clix. She has a ranged attack with a crossbow.

Cheers Puuka, I haven't seen that one, going to have to buy it now :-*
Today it's another clix repaint and rebased for SuperSystem, he's a big lad standing 2 1/2" tall, Blockbuster

Oh I really like this one so dapper yet brutish jolly well done.

Nice work! Is that head solid to the body or can it be removed? I really like that suit and body shape.
-
That's my favorite of your clix repaints. Really nice work.
-
Nice work! Is that head solid to the body or can it be removed? I really like that suit and body shape.
As with most clix, it's soft plastic, so would be easy to remove.
-
Thanks guys.
@styx: it's not as easy as usual, I don't remember the head being a separate part when it was stripped and on top of that the rear of his hair is quite long and fans out over his shoulders, and is quite a thick bit of plastic, would be hard to shave off safely and leave a decent surface
Quick photo below.

Another heroclix repaint for us in clix, Grifter

Two-gun kid on his flying mechanical horse bike! (Edited with correct info from hat guy and Grimmnar)
A repainted heroclix again, from the 'avengers' set
Regards
Jim
-
Nice clean work.
-
I only recently found out that there are a bunch of WildC.A.T.s figures available in clix now. I need to pick those up!
-
What set was that Vigilante in?
-
Sadly I have no idea ??? I've had it cut off its base for a few years waiting on my desk
Patiently for some paint. I've long since forgotten the set
I've looked on HCRealms but can't find it, but hopefully Puuka should be along shortly,
He is an amazing living clix resource wiki.
Regards
Jim
-
Is it Vigilante or Two-Gun Kid from Marvel? Could be either.
-
Is it Vigilante or Two-Gun Kid from Marvel? Could be either.
Well from my limited Vigilante knowldge he rode a motorcycle and had 2 pistols.
Looking for the above clix guy that is Two-Gun Kid.
Grimm
-
Thanks very much hat guy and Grimmnar,
You are both correct, he is Two-gun kid and not as I originally thought vigilante.
He's a 'super rare' from the old 'avengers' heroclix release.
I've amended the info in the original post.
Regards
Jim

From the heroclix Justice League 52 set, Fury
Regards
Jim

He's great. Nice job with the yellows.
-
Oh yeah that is nice. I'm not familiar with that character/incarnation of Firestorm, but it's a pretty sweet figure and repaint.
-
From the heroclix Justice League 52 set, Fury
Regards
Jim
Beautiful paint job, but a part of me cringes over how hard he was to get for me.
-
All your paint jobs are good but that blockbuster guy with the detail on his head is great. Well done.
-
I'm not familiar with the last guy but the orange & yellows are impressively bright. As an aside I haven't noticed you paint any of the Reaper supers do you not like them?
-
Thanks very much chaps!
@puuka: sorry about that, it's a reaction I get often from some of my gaming friends who play and collect clix and then see what I've done with some of the figures :o
@kidterminal: the only reaper figure so far in this thread was the shadow. The only other reaper I've got currently painted is their 'action jackson' who I've painted up in a power man colour scheme, but his pistol is a bit bent out of shape so wasn't going to post it. I'll dig him up shortly and post him. The reaper figures are fine supers, I just haven't got round to painting many yet.
Regards
Jim
-
Speaking of Reaper:- this is their bones iron golem painted up to use in SuperSystem
Regards
Jim
-
Nice. You have only the Bones figures not any metal ones?
-
what do you use as bases?
thanks
-
@:kt, thanks, I have quite a few reaper metal supers too, just haven't got any finished yet.
@rollntider, I use mdf round bases from warbases, they do them in many sizes and have excellent prices.
Today is another HC repaint. I've posted a Blob up earlier in the thread still on his base for use in heroclix, today I've finished another one who's been re-based for the tabletop. (Yup, I replicate figures based differently for the different games ::). )
Regards
Jim
Edit: added the original in the second photo for a comparison
-
Interesting you are one of the few people I've encountered who still play Heroclix tho most of us by the figures.
-
clix was my first game outside of 40k, I miss playing it, but we had some people in our group that cheesed (they had a wizkid hookup) and had all the stuff and would only allow one prize to go out to the group. He hoarded the rest for himself.
thanks for the info on the bases.
Nice paint as always, I like that style.
-
Kt: the majority of the clix I buy end up rebased for other games, but I buy far too many :`
Another one for use in clix, tharok. It's a very useful figure, I've rebased a couple to use on SuperSystem and also in Ganesha games post apocalyptic 'mutants and death ray guns' as
Part of my cyborg gang.
Regards
Jim
-
Another figure finished today for my U-S-N team.
After many years hiding out at the Ecuadorian embassy, Julian Assange comes up with a cunning way of escaping the law. He takes Ecuadorian nationality and has his brain transplanted into an experimental egg shaped war droid becoming the super hero ' The Egguadorian ' ::)
The model is a retro ray gun retrovian robot from Wargames supply dump

Looking great as always.
How does he match with the clix?
Got a Logan lying about?
Grimm
-
Hi Grimm,
Yup, here's acside by side with wolverine. I think they work rather well as Logan should be a little guy and Sabretooth is supposed to be an imposing fellow
Regards
Jim
-
They do look right thanks for the comparison.
-
Great Sabertooth! He's one of my favorites, and you've done him justice with your paint.
It's always nice to stop by here and take a peak :)
-
What sets are the Wolverine and Sabretooth from? I don't recognize them.
Great work on Max as well, that figure didn't impress me when I looked at it, but a little extra paint really brings it up.
-
Thanks chaps!
Obsidian3d, wolverine is from the heroclix Giant-size x-men set, Sabretooth is from
The 'handful of heroes' range of superheroes, they didn't have specific sets, just rotated figures in their range occasionally
Regards
Jim
-

Looking good Jim. Logan a tike and Sabertooth not so much. They do look good indeed.
But i should have also asked if you had a Clix Sabertooth to add to the mix in the original request.
Thanks chaps!
Obsidian3d, wolverine is from the heroclix Giant-size x-men set
That's not a Giant-size Logan now is it? ;-)
Grimm

Cheers Grimm,
I've had a look but not found a clix Sabretooth in my collection but many boxes still to go ::)

He looks fantastic! I know how small the Hasselfree kids are.

@puuka, lol
@grimm, that's brilliant, someone should produce an actual mini of that kid as "bat kid" to raise funds for make a wish.

Regards
Jim

There's some great stuff on this thread, I'm just posting to make sure I don't miss new stuff.
I was going to ask a question about superhero figures but rather than hijack this excellent thread I'll start a new one.
-
Thanks Elk!
Today it's a very old GW golden heroes villain figure, he's quite small and un-detailed by
Modern standards, but they were okay for early 1980s.
Regards
Jim
-
I remember that Golden Heroes miniature! In fact, I'm pretty certain it's still in the lead pile somewhere, along with the rest of the box (or at least, the ones that didn't snap at the ankles or lose their heads). Great to see it here, painted so nicely!
-
Thanks Hawkeye, the golden heroes hold a soft spot for me, they were the only actual super hero figs available when I was playing Champions with friends in college 8)
Another clix rebase and repaint. It's Sunspot from the ' wolverine and the x-men' set.
It's a great example of the effects wizkids can achieve with the coloured see through plastic
that could never be done in metal
Regards
Jim
-
Something a little unusual today, I found squinkies on eBay. They repaint fine so long as you only varnish with acrylics ( oil based varnish makes them sticky forever!)
I use them as robotic toy versions of heroes, first up juggernaught
Regards
Jim
-
Squinkies sandman today.
He's been slightly modded, I added modelling sand to the arms and base before painting
To improve the look of his power

Heroclix Creeper from the Justice League set, they really captured the 'jack kirby' feel with
the sculpt
Regards
Jim

Today it's vision from the heroclix 'chaos war' set,
Regards
Jim
-
Interesting, does anyone think Bat-kid would be suitable or 15mm?
-
That Creeper models is great. I'd love to see the character added to the Batman Miniature Game too.
-
Thanks very much.
Oldben1: I've had another look at him, I think it would work as batman in 15mm,
Regards
Jim

Thanks so much,
Gears are turning now . . .

Love the flying look. How you do it?
Also, why when you posts get "quoted" why do the pics never quote over?
Grimm
-
Vision and the Creeper - two of my favourite characters. Good stuff. :)
A shame DC have sought to try and ruin the Creeper over the years by fixing what wasn't broken...
-
Also, why when you posts get "quoted" why do the pics never quote over?
Jim is attaching his image to appear after his post and they're being hosting on http://leadadventureforum.com. Other people are hosting their images elsewhere and using the [img] tags to make them appear in the middle of their message. This second method you can quote and can have the images appear.

Grimm
It's part of the Heroclic figure
-
Thanks very much guys.
@grimm:- both Puuka and von Lucky are spot on. Visions clear bottom section is as the figure comes, in see through plastic. It's the sort of thing that shows powers working which can be done in plastic that wouldn't really work so well in metal.
I attach the images here so that they won't get lost in the future. I find it really annoying when browsing through people's projects on here and you get the " image not available"
Message because the image hosting site had closed, or been updated etc.
Today it's a repaint of a heroclix guy Gardner from the BATMAN: STREETS OF GOTHAM
set. Again it's a great use of see-through plastic for the 'powers'

Thanks Von, I hadn't noticed the pics were from the LAF site and not a 3rd party hosting site. BUT, i posted a pic on my Gundam topic the other day form Photobucket that took me 45 minutes and that was kicking my ass each and every minute. :-)
I think i got it correctly. Was in the process of hitting up WC for a new lesson on the abilities of this site. He is so good at explaining it to the dense masses.
And Jim brings up a good point doing it this way. I do so hate getting the same error he gets form the exact same reasons.
The clear parts they are using in the Clix line are great. The Lanterns are showing it left and right.
As for Vision, i hadn't recalled the part in question was the fig and i didn't look ahead of time. I was thinking that Jim was being creative and using a medium to showboat his skills. Like a gluegun for example. Nice model, great execution.
Loving the work as always Jim. Keep it up.
-
Thanks Grimm!
No worries, I collect, convert, play with and paint clix almost everyday and I still don't remember all the ins-and-outs of a lot of the figures ::)
Today is a fairly obscure one, it's cannonball from the x-men, but he was inside one of the energy blasts that came with the sentinel mark ii from the GIANT-SIZE X-MEN
Release.
I've shown him in 2 views as its a difficult pose to show effectively,
Regards
Jim
-
I've shown him in 2 views as its a difficult pose to show effectively,
The pose makes me think he is trying to catch a football out of bounds with still keeping his feet in the endzone. :-)
I was gonna ask if you had the original Cannonball clix but i see there is more than two. Several mods out there to boot. Seen a couple on GoOogle that use the same mini as you did.
Seen one some time back where the modder used the cyclone from Whirlwind around his feet.
Grimm
-
I haven't got the oldest one yet, but will eventually lol
Another clix, angel from The giant size x-men release,
Regards
Jim
-
More great additions. I'm not sure if I've asked before, but what's the logic behind how you paint your bases? It looks interesting, are you emulating shadow being cast from the character?
-
The wings on Angel - and the blue of his suit - are just brilliant 8) 8) 8)
One of my favourites in this never-ending collection.
-
cheers guys!
Obsidian3d; I needed basing that would fit in with either of the 2 boards we had at our club many years ago. One was sand/desert based and the other was urban. Hence grey-beige
and no grass flock.
The patches of grey and sand are purely just random :)
Today it's a marvel 10th anniversary set hulk in his original grey glory
Regards
Jim
-
Wolverine from heroclix 'chaos war' release,
Another one hard to photograph due to its small size and pose
Regards
Jim
-
do you strip the hero clix before painting or paint over?
of course great job again.
-
It's a mixture rollntider, while I'm cleaning up mould lines
I decide. If the paint isn't thick then I just wash and undercoat.
With the ones where the paint is so thick as to be obscuring
detail I strip them.
I've noticed a lot of the newer figures aren't as bad as the older
Series.
Regards
Jim
-
Heroclix ' invincible iron Man' set Puck. Another tiny figure :`
Regards
Jim
-
Your paint on Puck looks good, but I personally hate that version of him. The older one standing on his hands is much better in terms of sculpting and proportion. The new one looks like an angry little kid with a moustache.
-
Mustachio Furioso! ;D
-
Thanks!
Obsidian3d: I agree, I have both and prefer the handstand puck.
Today it's amon sur of the sinistro corps, from the 'arkham asylum' set
Regards
Jim
-
Loving the style on these, they really evoke the comic book look. :)
-
Cheers eek!
Today it's pretty boy from 'giant size x-men'
Regards
Jim
-
I mentioned the other puck in reply to obsidian3d,
I've dug him out of my figure cases. This is the one from 'mutant mayhem' a much better
pose, quite a bit bigger than the 'invincible iron man' set one. I painted it when the set came out, so it's a fairly old paint job, I'd improve the flesh if painting it again.
Regards
Jim

Sentry from the 'chaos war' heroclix set.

Your work is so impressive. I am so tempted to try painting some of these. Keep up the great work I love looking at your figs.
-
Hey wha?! I didn't know there was an Osiris figure...I've got to put that on my to-buy list. Nice work!
-
Thanks very much guys!
Obsidian3d: from memory I think there's 3 different models of Osiris. I've got 2 versions,
I'd have to check on the wizkids site to make sure about the third one.

And if the other is painted how about showing it off eh?
Grimm
-
Hi Grimm, the frailties of an ageing brain I'm afraid😒
I was pretty sure I remembered 3 releases, was looking through all my figures and only found
One other sculpt. I had a good look on HCRealms and the mystery is solved.
There was an Osiris in teen titans ( the last one I posted) and in ' DC 75th' and ' brightest Day' but brightest day was the same sculpt as 75th. ( I think it was a smal 6 figure starter set).
Anyway, I found my other one in my case so here he is,

@rusti: I could post up some game shots, but they are embarrassingly bad. The terrain at our club isn't superhero friendly, we have fought several games, but it's usually over a warhammer
Fantasy village or obviously 40k terrain as that's what the club owns :(
I really have to get my act together and get some proper superhero scenery.
@Hat Guy: I have, but I use acetone and it makes the clear figures surface 'cloudy'. If I'm painting one I want translucent in part such as invisible woman, I start with the fully clear one
and just paint over part of it.
Last one for a few days as I'll be away at a gaming event over the weekend, from the heroclix 'superman fast forces' set, it's bizzarro superman, but I've painted him with a proper 's' as
a zombie superman instead. ( very minor difference, I realise)
Regards
Jim

The Zombie Superman is grand! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
-
Great work! love to see someone take meh and make it special!
-
really love the Zed superman. I have that clix myself.
-
Top work as always.
-
Excellent work as always; especially Doorman, Black Knight and Animal Man. :)
-
Thanks guys!
Back from the event and managed to finish Cloak from the heroclix ' mutant mayhem'
set.
I did originally try to paint on stripes on the cloak, but all the folds defeated me and ruined the
look so I've just gone for a black/blue look.
Regards
Jim
-
looks good man. I wouldn't have noticed no stripes unless you pointed it out.
-
Thanks very much.
Heroclix 'galactic guardians' moleman

Kid flash from the 'teen titans' Heroclix release
Regards
Jim

Kid Flash is awesome. Well done.
-
Cheers obsidian3d,
Today it's Havok from the 'wolverine and the x men ' set
Regards
Jim
-
This is a repaint of the heroclix 'galactic guardians' limited edition iron man in his fantastic four
uniform. I gave him a gloss varnish which had made it look slightly "odd" in the photos.
Regards
Jim
-
love those models. I had the set of them, but sold them to buy other stuffs :)
I must say I did not like their spidey sculpt, he was on a wall of some sort.
Nice work as usual
-
Thanks very much rollntider,
Here's the non rare version in classic ironman colours

Heroclix ' justice league' set, batman and robin dual figure repaint

Two Heroclix hulks today. They are from the latest avengers 'age of ultron' gravity feed set.
As you can see, my obsession knows few bounds as I've done one for tabletop and one for use in clix. I experimented with the final highlight making it lighter on one than the other.
You can see it In the photos, but it isn't noticeable on the tabletop.
Regards
Jim
-
Looks great! This is one of my favorite Hulk sculpts ever, and it's on my near-term to-do list as well.
-
Great work as usual fairoaks024!
Got another one for you; the greatest secret agent in the Caribbean - El Ron de Cuba!
-
Thanks very much guys!
Hat guy:- in the notebook for later.
Today it's ultron mk1 from the same set, and also heroclix and SuperSystem versions
Regards
Jim
-
Heroclix Repaint of Deadman from the DC 'brightest day' set
Regards
Jim
-
Serendipitous! I just finished my Deadman a few days ago! I'll post up a pic when I get a chance.
-
Excellent Hat Guy, love to see your take on him.
Today it's a heroclix Johnny Thunder. He's a convention exclusive from the 'origin' DC set

Where's his genie?
-
Hi Puuka, he doesn't need painting but I haven't based him up yet.
Today it's Leech from " giant size x-men "
Regards
Jim
-
Some great additions; I especially like Cloak and Leech. :)
-
Thanks Leon!
Today it's a repaint of Klaw from the Heroclix 'Captain America ' set,
There wasn't much detail on this one
Regards
Jim
-
John Stewart green lantern from heroclix ' DC 75th anniversary ' set
Regards
Jim
-
Nick fury from heroclix ' captain America ' release.
The pose is quite wooden on this sculpt, not helped by the odd way the rifle/mg is held in the left hand. Would look much better with something a bit smaller like an Uzi.

Jim

'DC 75th Anniversary ' set Ganthet

Today it's Iceman from 'giant size x-men'
Regards

From heroclix 'secret invasion' it's a couple of Dum Dum Duggans, one painted as the skrul
version of dum dum

This one is a repainted Frozone from the incredibles. He was a vending machine toy
And is almost spot on for scale.
Regards
Jim

Must be the hot weather we're having, but Iceman (and his captive) and Frozone are particularly 8) 8) 8)
For a vending machine toy, Frozone is grand.
-
love the incredibles... nice
-
Thanks Vanvlak and Rollntider,
Today it's a bit of a cheat. I've found some old GW golden heroes figures that were painted
many years ago. I'm rebasing them to match my current figs, but leaving the painting as is.
First one is this shield-agent-a-like
Regards
Jim
-
Another GW golden heroes fig rescued and rebased. The Nightcrawler inspiration in the
colours chosen is pretty obvious :D
Regards
Jim
-
Another Golden hero, this time a villain. I see him as a mentalist or mastermind type of character. When I've got the time I think I'll go back and add more highlights, especially on the black areas.
Regards
Jim
-

Regards

Looks like Beast suffering from Anorexia.
-
That Ganthet sculpt (and repaint of course) is great. I didn't buy any of that set, but sort of wish I had now.
-
Love seeing all the work in this thread, must be great to play with all these.
-
Thanks chaps.
Puuka: now you've said that I can't get it out of my mind😳 he could indeed pass for a starved
Beast!
Today another rescued golden hero. This is GWs obviously ' not ' hulk, so I did the right thing
and went with a very hulk-y colour scheme. Again, the paint job is showing its age and once I've got the time I'll add at least another highlight to everything
Regards
Jim
-
Never skip leg day!
I'm also offended by those nipples ;)
-
2 very good points Cherno!
Those nipples seem to follow you round the room😳
Another GW golden hero figure, a mystical hero. Taking a colour scheme from Dr. Fate.
As before, I'll need to re-touch the colour scheme to make it more presentable when I've got time.
My biggest criticism of this one would be the stance. I know heroes tend to go for the wide legged look, but this guy takes it to extremes
Regards
Jim
-
This one looks like a 70's pornstar ! I mean, "Super Pornstar" lol
Great paint as usual !
-
Thanks Sundayhero,
Yup, definitely has a porn 'tache look about him. Makes you wonder who he's hypnotising
With his amulet and to what ends :o
This is the golden heroes generic caped superhero. As with all of these, he needs a bit of work
to bring up to spec.
Regards
Jim
-
I see that you're using revell aqua color jars to paint your minis, do you like this range of paint ? Personaly, I like it very much : cheap and good quality. For me the only issue is the jar itself, I prefer old school citadel/coats d'arms jar, or at least, vallejo/prince august jars.
-

Great paint job! He looks like Van Dam doing a split!
-
Cheers Styx
@sundayhero:- I like them a lot, I find they have a lot of pigment and cover really well.
I cut the two little "prongs" under the lid off, as I've found they can get bent and prevent the lids from sitting properly and this can cause drying out of the paint.
Their Camo style shades are brilliant for historically, but don't have too many uses on supers.
Regards
Jim
-
they have a really bright yellow, called 36115 yellow mat. On the jar, it seems that the paint is almost fluorescent lemon yellow, but in reality it's a very warm yellow, almost orange, a bit similar to the old school citadel sunburst yellow (even more reddish, maybe). Really usefull for supers !
They also have some cold greens you should find some use for your work too.
A problem with this range is the fact the labels colors (and/or names) are not always very revealent, so it's a bit of lucky pick. At least they are cheap and easily available, so you can test them.
I also cut the prongs, for the same reason ;)
-
Nice... I like the "cheese" factors these sculpts have. I like the paint jobs just fine
-
Rollntider, I like the 80s cheese and nostalgia factor too :D
Another golden hero, the female cat burglar style one, again with odd posing
Regards
Jim
-
To break up the rescuing of old figures a bit, I decided to have some fun with some fantasy figures I've got lying around unused. I figured with all the alien races being members of the green lantern corps that pretty much anything goes, so I present the green lantern of Warhammer earth,
Regards
Jim
-
The Ogre Lantern works splendidly! 8) 8) 8)
Nice contrast with the petite cat burglar too.
-
Cheers Vanvlak,
Back to recovering the golden heroes, a diminutive strongman from the range
Regards
Jim
-
One of the golden heroes villains today,
Although tbh I would think he's more of a thug or goon for a villain rather than a
Full blown villain in his own right
Regards
Jim

A rebased and repainted heroclix Indy Brit-cit judge
Regards
Jim

Loving the colours on him. Nice one.
-
Cheers Von lucky!
From the same set, psi judge Anderson
Regards
Jim
-
Do you have the other Judges as well? (Hershey, Death, Fire, Mortis and Fear. There was also Johnny Alpha, Stix, Wulf Sternhammer, Torquemada and Nemesis)
-
I do have them all somewhere in my unpainted figures Puuka
Currently on my desk part painted are Hershey, Dredd and Mortis. They should all be finished
In the next day or so.
Regards
Jim
-
That's an impressive collection of lovely painted stuff, Jim, like this thread, will follow with interest!

Thanks very much Prof!
Heroclix Indy judge Hershey

Judge Mortis from heroclix Indy
Regards
Jim
-
As mentioned when I posted the GW ogre green lantern, I've been looking at re-purposing
Other fantasy miniatures. Amongst my unpainted figure mountain I found this guy.
He's from reaper bones Kickstarter 2, one of the lesser demons. I think he's a bone devil
Type of guy. Anyway, he looked to me to be spot on for a yellow lantern, so that's what he's become
Regards
Jim
-
Another Heroclix Indy figure, the man himself Dredd
Regards
Jim
-
Another recovered GW golden hero villain, this ones a very 80s cheesy cyborg.
Regards
Jim
-
Like that one, a very nice figure!
-
Thanks very much Prof!
Today it's a DC heroclix from the 'giants' set. What happens when all the Metal Men fuse together? You get Alloy!
Regards
Jim
-
There needs to be some blue trim added to the lefthand side so you can call him 'Alloy 'Alloy.
-
:D
-
Some of those clix from the giants set were pretty cool. I've long had it on my to-do list to make an original Doom Patrol team. So many projects, so little free time.
-
Love the judges, nice work on Alloy.
-
Thanks obsidian3d and Rollntider,
Today it's another giant figure, heroclix Goliath from 'secret invasion'
Regards
Jim
-
I've forgotten this guys name and set, but he's pretty cool, I also use him in post apocalyptic games of mutants and death ray guns 8)
Regards
Jim
-
Egg Fu (I kid you not...)!
Brush magic as always. :D
-
Cheers Soapy!
That was the name I was thinking of, but when I put it into the search engine on HCRealms I spelled it Egg Foo. D'oh!
I knew the LAF hive mind would know the answer, my only surprise was that you provided the answer before Puuka lol
Regards
Jim
-
I've forgotten this guys name and set, but he's pretty cool, I also use him in post apocalyptic games of mutants and death ray guns 8)

Clix figure name was Chang Tzu. Renamed when they figured Egg Fu was too racist or something like that.
-
Wow, good job on Egg Fu or whatever his name is now.
-
I knew you'd know the full details Puuka, top fella!
Thanks Rollntider.
Today it's Dr. Manhattan from the heroclix watchmen fast forces set,
Regards
Jim
-
Oh, the last one is great :-* lovely miniature an nicely painted too.
-
More good stuff, especially Alloy and Egg Fu. :)
-
Very nice - your painting style really fits the genre.
-
Thanks very much guys!
Supercollider; definitely, I've got a very cartoony style and I think it suits supers better than anything else I paint. I think it's all the years of reading comics, I think the way comics used to be coloured has left a permanent mark on my colour choices :D
Today it's Collossus, from the old TSR marvel figure set from the 80s. Not even a good sculpt
by the standards of the time,
Regards
Jim
-
From the same series by TSR, a truly dreadful sculpt of Mr.Fantastic. These sculpts are so poor
That they almost approach good again from the wrong side!
Regards
Jim
-
I normally love old lead but those two need a swift mallet to put them out of their misery. Mr Fantastic definitely isn't.
Nice paintjob as always.
-
Thanks Wachaza, I agree, I love the charm a lot of old 70s and early 80s figures had, but the TSR ones really pushed it too far lol
Today it's back to repainting heroclix. From the ' web of Spider-Man ' set, Warpath
Regards
Jim
-
The Hood from heroclix ' mutations and monsters' set
Regards
Jim
-
Your painting has definitely improved those TSR sculpts. :)
And as for the other additions, one of my favourite villains - The Hood: yay! :)
-
Thanks very much Leon!
Heroclix " web of Spider-Man " iron patriot repaint
Regards
Jim
-
I like that Iron Patriot quite a bit. I'm unfamiliar with the character but it looks cool.
-
He's Norman Osborne in Ironman gear. He took over SHIELD and renamed it HAMMER and started his own Avengers with new versions of the old Avengers that were villains. This all happened after the Secret Invasion storyline and lasted through Siege. Which is when I stopped reading all Marvel comics. It was not my most favorite of story arcs.
-
Siege was a good way to tie off the bloody stumps of Civil War, Secret Invasion and Dark Reign. The Marvel Now! stuff is really good, but be warned that the status-quo of most characters has shifted dramatically. I think the editorial team finally realised that they've been doing the same thing for 50 years and demanded a major shake-up.
Captain America is transported to an alternate universe.
Carol Danvers becomes Captain Marvel.
Cyclops leads the new Brotherhood of Mutants.
Hawkeye tries to get his shit together.
Iron Man joins the Guardians of the Galaxy.
Doctor Octopus has control over Spiderman's Body and actually tries to be a hero.
Some weird stuff in there but mostly good reads.
-
And it all changes again with Secret War. The constant crossovers, Bendis, and Brand New Day killed it for me. Ed Brubaker and Archie Horror now!
-
Have to agree, I stopped reading marvel right after the whole Norman osbornes evil avengers shtick.
A more humorous one today, it's a kinder egg wolverine toy that I use as a killer robot
Regards
Jim
-
From the 'Justice League' Hetoclix set, bulleteer
Regards
Jim
-
More excellent work sir. :)
-
Thanks very much Leon!
To match warpath, here's the 'web of spiderman' wolverine
Regards
Jim

From the 'Arkham Asylum' DC set, all around nasty piece of work, Per Degaton.
Very usable as an evil mastermind in many gaming genres
Regards
Jim

Marvel Girl from heroclix " mutations and monsters" set.
Not the greatest of poses. I don't really know what the sculptor was aiming for here?
Regards
Jim
-
Maybe a high 5 or something LOL
Nice work as usual
-
Cheers Rollntider, that probably works better than whatever the sculptor was going for.
From 'secret invasion' clix, mass master of power pack
Regards
Jim

From "the brave and the bold" Heroclix, Mikron O'jeneus

-
Great painting, but I hate it when they forget that Gorgon has cloven hooves. >:(
But does he?
Grimm
-
Thanks hat guy.
On the hooves issue, it's hard to tell on the sculpt, it looks like the sculptor has gone for
making him cloven hooves but inside boots. You can make out the form of a hoof where the toes would be.
Today it's a guy Gardner Heroclix. I can't find which set he comes from, he was debased a long time ago and I've looked through the units section of HCRealms with no joy.
Regards
Jim
-
Pretty sure that was the Justice League set. First time he was made, I believe.
-
But does he?
Grimm
Yes, I have a reprint of Fantastic Four #44 with his first appearance and he clearly has hooves on the cover. In fact, he can channel his strength through his hooves to cause shockwaves. :D
-
Thanks very much for the info Bubba,
Today it's the bad-ass red lantern Atrocitis from 'DC 75th anniversary' set
Regards
Jim
-

OK. So there has been more than one Gorgon? I have seen comic covers with him w/o hooves. The hooveless ones do shockwaves as well. :-)
Grimm
-
Awesome, how did you paint the metallic/glowy effect of his flight trail? It's a really striking look.
-
FO, don't tell me ya getting burnout? Been a week w/o an update. I am jonseing for some new goodies to drool over.
Hope your doing well and nothing horrible keeping ya.
Looking forward to seeing more soon.
Grimm
-
And it all changes again with Secret War. The constant crossovers, Bendis, and Brand New Day killed it for me.
For me it was when they depowered the Red Hulk. :'(
(Shut up! It was!)
Nice repaints. :) Especially like the Wolverines and Guy Gardner.
-
Thanks guys.
@obsidian3d: I painted it black, highlighted it up with gunmetal, silver and aluminium. Then gave it 2 coats of Tamiya clear red. Very simple.
@grimmnar: thanks very much for the concern, we had a family funeral to attend and were away from home for a week. All home and back to normal now.
I've finished phantom lady from DC Origins
Regards
Jim
-
Ace from the royal flush gang. He was in the 'Crisis' heroclix set
Regards
Jim
-
Ace looks ace! (Sorry I couldn't resist) Excellent shading and highlighting on an all-white miniature.
The Royal Flush Gang is one that I've been meaning to do repaints of as well. I saw a set done a while back somewhere, where the fellow had put them onto mini playing cards and it looked really nice. It's an idea I've long-intended to borrow.
Now that I have a Batman Beyond mini awaiting my attention on my painting desk, I might just have to dive into this crew as well.
-

That was me. ;) Can't wait to see your take on it either!
-
These are just so impressive and inspiring. Keep them comming. :)
-
Those models are awesome. Seeing such well painted heroes and villains makes me want to try on a supers game. You have nice ones but whenever I picked up a heroclix "mystery bag" it was loaded full of disproportionate nasties :'(.
-
More excellent work, and again including subjects I have real fondness for (especially Tiger Shark, Gorgon, and Royal Flush Gang). :)
-
Thanks for all the kind words guys,
Today Its aqua lad, again from 'crisis' Heroclix,
Regards
Jim
-
Another old, nostalgic but rubbish figure today,
It's Blok from the legion of superheroes. He's an old 80s metal figure produced by grenadier
And is absolutely tiny,
Regards
Jim
-
Back to repainting clix,
Professor zoom from ' Arkham asylum '
Regards
Jim

I like the ACE figure particularly. It could be the base figure for a lot of "tank" custom characters !
-
I like the ACE figure particularly. It could be the base figure for a lot of "tank" custom characters !
Yeah, I have a few floating around in my doubles box.
-
Thanks Sundayhero.
I had the same thought too, you'd be able to use him for a few 'brick' types as he's got no
extraneous details, so anything you like could be added or painted on.
Today it's Validus from the fatal five, this version was in the 'Giants' set.
He really needs a bigger base now I look at the photo.
Regards
Jim
-
Another one from the 'Giants' collectors set, Rita Farr from the doom patrol,
Regards
Jim
-
That Giants set was awesome. I have them rattling around in a box somewhere. The two you've posted here were on my to-do list for a long time. I always wanted to do an original Doom Patrol and Fatal Five. Maybe some day...
At least you're reminding me that it can be done, and done well.
I concur that Validus needs a bigger base however.
-
Another giant figure, this time Stature from the "avengers" set,
Regards
Jim
-
Did you manage to snag any of the new giants that were in the SLoSH set? Rita, Giganta, Colossal Boy, Validus, and Mordru were in there. I know 4 of them were in the Giants Set, but different sculpts are sometimes nice.
-
Puuka: yup, I've got giganta, colossal boy and Mordru from LoSH. I do try and get as many different sculpts of a character as possible. I'm still going to try and snag the Validus from that set too.
Today it's a return to the TSR Marvel heroes set. These are truly poor sculpts, even by the standards of the early 80s, but I still like them ::)
So here's Nightcrawler, absolutely tiny by modern standards, he's only about 20mm tall
Regards
Jim
-
From Heroclix 'Crisis' set, Kyle Rayner green lantern,
Regards
Jim
-
Looks good. I do love the GLC.
-
Thanks very much Obsidian3d.
Today it's a fantastic four second string character, Wizard from the 'sinister' Heroclix set.
Regards
Jim
-
Excellent additions, especially the various Giants. :)
-
I wish I could turn them out as fast as you. Good job as always.
-
Thanks guys, it's appreciated!
Rollntider, I'm lucky enough to have a spare room set aside for all my toys with a painting desk. I have about 200 models in various states of preparation at any one time, so there's always something I can finish every day with whatever time I've got available. I'm also very lucky in that I get time to paint everyday 8)
Today it's red ghost repaint from 'super nova'
Regards
Jim
-
Well you are nothing but a Legendary Iron Man yourself!!! I mean, I haven't properly checked it but since you started the thread, you have churned out close to ONE mini per DAY. I guess you also have a passion for painting, otherwise you wouldn't enjoy painting every day and they look absolutely great mate. Some I like better than others of course, but I always come back to the thread.
I think you should get, at least a virtual one, a medal for your consistency, tenacity and efforts lol. Maybe the Bronze Brush...
-
Wow, great work!
-
Thanks very much guys.
Legionnaire: yup, I'm aiming to finish one a day, doesn't always happen as sometimes real life intrudes along with me getting sidetracked with other projects too ( currently painting fantasy minis for Frostgrave and Otherworlds new skirmish rules as well!)
Today it's a repaint of a marvel toy I bought in a supermarket, I don't remember the name of the range. He has had sand texture added on the arms, legs and base before repainting.
Regards
Jim
-
Another repainted heroclix, skrul captain marvel
I couldn't find which set the figure was in,
Regards
Jim
-
CM: possibly some kind of Secret invasion set as that is the look for him with the Skrull chin.
-
It was indeed Secret Invasion.
-
Another repainted heroclix, skrul captain marvel
I couldn't find which set the figure was in,
Regards
Jim
I believe that one is from Secret Invasion. They spelled it Mar-Vell.
-
Thanks very much Leon, wellender and most especially Puuka ( I had no doubt Puuka would know!)
The spelling would be what foxed me, I tried skrull, marvel and captain in the search but
didn't think to look for mar-vell.
Regards
Jim
-
Future batman from ' Arkham Asylum '
Regards
Jim
-
I just repainted that same Batman last week. Not as well, but...whatever. :)
-
Cheers obsidian3d,
Today it's Robin from 'batman alpha'
Regards
Jim
-
There is a Batman with a similar base that goes well with that Robin. I think it was from the DC Icons set.
-
This Robin was originally in Icons as well, so it's possible. The Icons Batman was standing on a gargoyle, one foot forward if I recall correctly. One of the better Batman sculpts.
-
I've got him somewhere too, definitely one of the better batman sculpts.
Today it's Abin Sur from the 'green lanterns collector set'
Regards
Jim
-
Care to put together a Marvel and DC shot of all your models? You know you want to...
-
I will as soon as I can sort out somewhere to take the piccy obsidian 8)
Today it's Arkillo repaint from 'Arkham Asylum '
Regards
Jim
-
More nice additions, especially Batman Beyond. :)
-
Cheers Leon,
From Heroclix 'Avengers' set, pile driver from the wrecking crew.
It's a very small sculpt compared to a lot of the other clix, and underwhelming in pose and detail
Regards
Jim
-
Again more excellent work, and again among my favourite villains (I have loved the Wrecking Crew ever since reading the Marvel UK adaptation of Secret Wars as a kid). :)
-
Like so many others who are following your work on this project, I am really enjoying what you are doing with these figures. richard
-
Thanks Leon and Richard, appreciated
Today it's red skull, Heroclix repaint from the 'avengers' set
Regards
Jim
-
Nice paint work. Sadly that is one of my least favorite clix figures. I don't yet recall seeing a really good clix incarnation of Red Skull.
-

Imho the heroscape version of the Red Skull is pretty good. Let's see if I can find an image...
But I agree fairoaks024's paint job looks great.
-
Thanks Leon and Richard, appreciated
Today it's red skull, Heroclix repaint from the 'avengers' set
Regards
Jim
Best use of that figure. The clix dial on it was horrible and pretty much unplayable, but the sculpt on it was awesome.
If people are looking for Red Skull figures on the cheap, there are a few from Heroclix.

Thanks chaps.
Puuka, I hadn't seen the zombie red skull, really like it. I had a look on ebay and it goes
for stupid prices!
Today it's colossus from "ultimates"

I really liked this Red Skull (excellent brush work as always fairoaks024); considering it's a hero clix plastic I thought it was a good good sculpt/rendition of the character. It hits what I consider to be some sweet skull moments as well;
1. Byrne era militant dress uniform rather than the green jump suit.
2. Cosmic Cube
3. Cap's shield laying shattered in the dust.
@obisidian31,
What kills this one for you? I'm curious because I liked it so much (especially after seeing those other ones :) ).

I think it's the proportions of the body. He looks like he's about 4 ft tall to me.
-
I've had a good look at the figure and I think there's a reason the proportions look "off"
The upper thighs have the flair of the jodhpurs and it makes them look huge, which in turn makes his upper half look too small, but when I compare it next to a few other figures it's actually not bad proportion wise.

Jim
-
@obisidian3d,
I see where you are coming from. Comics typically draw people anywhere from 6.5 t0 7.5 heads tall (6 being a classical, correctly proportioned figure) to make them more "heroic". The Skull's melon could account for his flyweight look. Our bias in perception may contributed to us reading, "child" therefore small because his head is such a significant percentage of his full height
It's something I take as a given with heroclix sculpts so I didn't include that in my assessment of the model. My biggest issue with the range is the lack of continuity. I'd be all over it if they could sit all of their sculptors down together and produce an "average" blank they could base their work on. The variation in the range always said no oversight and poor communication to me.
@fairoaks024,
Hector Hammond looks great (even if he has a fat head ;) ), Gil Kane would be proud.

Thanks horridperson!
Today it's a repaint of a superhero toy from my local supermarket, no idea who made it, it's slightly large but nothing unusable. Dr. Octopus

Nice one.
Every time you post a new miniature, I go to the Wikipedia page just to inform myself (there were only Tintins and Frank Frazetta-filled graphic novels in my home growing up). I just read that she is Greek. (so Élodie Yung is a better choice than Jennifer Garner).

Cheers von!
I have to do that several times with newer characters I'm unaware of, and sometimes for
Costume details that aren't done well on the figure.
Today from 'fantastic forces', Awesome Android,

that I can see her face needs a bit of evening-up

Haha that's funny. I have never seen that figure.
-
@obsidian3d:- I thought so too! They have done a few skrull versions of characters, and I've converted some up too for gaming.
Today it's Magneto, he's from the same supermarket toy series that doctor octopus and sandman were from which I've posted previously.

Great looking work on the cape. I really like your style of painting as its incredibly effective in bringing out details such as cloak folds and muscle groups. Great stuff :)
-
Thanks very much BlaxKleric,
Today it's original x-men costume Beast from 'mutations and monsters '
Regards
Jim

From the avengers set this is Wasp in her original costume. The pose is difficult to
Photograph easily to show how she looks, the sea-through wings don't show up well either.

Another one from 'secret invasion', Skrull Ms. Marvel

Jim

I stopped playing Heroclix right around that time and remember that Ms. Marvel...your paint work is good, but this set really didn't do anything for me. Partly because I have no interest in Skrulls.
-
Obsidian3d, I can understand that, I'm really a fan of the shape changers though ::)
Today, from 'justice league' it's Mr. mxyzptlk
Regards
Jim

Strong guy from 'mutations and monsters'

Jim

I like shape changers too, but more like Beast Boy and Mystique than the Skrulls. Strong Guy brings back memories though! I read X-Factor pretty much from issue 1 all the way through to the end! I forgot they made that figure. Thanks for the trip down memory lane. :)
-
Silver age Wasp and Beast along with the Awesome Android? That is pretty awesome :) . Have you done a Mad Thinker?
I liked Beast Boy/Changeling especially when DC they did that 4 issue limited series of Titan origins back in the eighties. The writing was good and George Perez was out of this world. I liked Super Skrull as an FF villain and the race were great spies. I just thought the models were bad because they portray them as, "breaking cover" but still wearing earth super costumes. Silly.

They did that in the comic too. It was not a good series.
-
@wellender
Foil covers. Once they started doing this in the 90s most mainstream comics were not worth reading any more :) .
-
So long since we've had an update. I love seeing your stuff.

Apologies for the long gap, I was unexpectedly called away again to help my parents and unfortunately it's an open-ended health situation :?
Anyway I'm back home and been painting again.
Wonder man from 'avengers' Hetoclix repaint,

Jim
-
I apologize for being impatient. I hope things are as well as they can be.
As for the Wonderman, I like to use him as the "Douchy" informant or the smarmy hero type.
-
No problem Puuka, thanks very much.

Jim

Same - all the best.

Thanks Von Lucky.
'Mutations and monsters' cyclops repaint. I like the way they've captured the old school uniform and look. The x-men were wearing these costumes in the very first x-man comic I ever read.

First of all... Wow... Very very nice paintjobs here, bravo.
A small question though, do you strip your models from their paint before you paint them?
I tried on some models with acetone and I'm getting mixed results and have my doubts about the quality of the plastic afterwards, they don't disolve but it becomes less ridgid, hard to clean the mold lines and use a pinvice. I'm not entirely shure if I will try again in the future.
Greetings,
Zeebeest
-
Try using limited contact with the acetone. Like wiping it with a cotton swab. I've done it that way before and that is a little easier on the plastic. A quick dip sometimes helps too.
-
@von Lucky:- lol maybe I need to give his lantern and energy a gloss varnish to make it look more 'powery'
@ Zeebeest:- It depends on the figure. If the paint is thick or 'blobby' then yes definitely.
I use acetone nail polish remover. about 10-20 seconds is usually all they need. Then a scrub with soap and a nail brush to get the paint off. I've found that if you leave them too long the plastic goes rubbery. If you let them dry out for a few days they harden up again and feel
Harder than before the stripping. Then you can clean the mould lines off easily.
If the paint isn't thick, I just remove mould lines with a sharp scalpel and a diamond file,
Undercoat with an acrylic spray and then paint as Normal.
One thing:- I used to use an oil based varnish, but over time some started feeling 'sticky'.
Now I only use acrylic varnish and haven't had that problem. I couldn't figure out why some went sticky and others varnished the same didn't. I think that the plastic used in the figures must vary from set to set.
Hope that helps.
Today it's Yellow lantern from 'Arkham Asylum' repainted

I love this figure.
-
You're welcome Zeebeest, glad I could help.
Today I've finished another superhero ogre to go with my ogre green lantern. This time I thought I'd do a marvel one, so here's Captain Amerogre.
Obviously a GW plastic ogre, wire and putty for the head-wings and a shield from a cheap
Captain America toy.

Jim

Totes awesome.

Ta von Lucky!
Today it's another of Rusti's superb crossover miniatures. Blue flair, this was painted as part of a commission and I decided to paint the theme to match the figures actual name rather than
with my own ones where I give them a different name and them them around those ( usually countries in the case of my U-S-N).
Regards
Jim
-
Wow very vibrant both of them.
-
Thanks obsidian3d,
Today it's a Dr. doom with Thor's hammer from 'handful of heroes'. Their size is even more
random than Heroclix, but this one fits fine with clix etc.
Regards
Jim
-
Today it's more of Rusti's Crossover miniatures, the Robo-Dogs, again part of a commission
I had originally painted them in all metal, silver and gold, but it didn't look "superhero-y"
So I dirtied up the silver parts and repainted the gold with red and yellow ( obviously iron man inspired). I'm much happier with them now
Regards
Jim
-
I like them.

This is really an impressive thread. At what point does one have enough painted supers? I wonder. If such a thing is possible...
You should totaly do a group photo!
-
Thanks very much guys.
@Dr. Zombie:- I hear the words, but they make no sense lol
I keep meaning to do a group shot, as soon as we get a decent day I'll set one up outside,
I don't have the room for a group shot inside
Regards
Jim
-
Love... just love the ogres.... please keep doing them. You did great with Rusti's models as usual.
-
Cheers rollntider, I'll certainly be doing more ogre supers 8)
Today from 'secret invasion' it's Super Skrull:x-men

Riddler from 'Arkham asylum' set

All your stuff is so fun!
The AmeriOgre is awesome.
I started on a Batman-Ogre years ago, he never got past the greenstuff cape and cowl. I also had a little Gnoblar as a Robin. I wonder if I still have them someplace? LOL
-
Cheers supervike that's a great idea, I was working on a Bucky sidekick ogre but your idea is better 8)
Today it's the evil speedster Johnny quick from the 'origins' set
Regards
Jim
-
That Johnny looks awesome. I forgot about that figure, he's really good.
-
Thanks obsidian3d,
Today it's the batman from the batman 1 million story, it was a super rare in the 'justice league' set
Regards
Jim
-
Jim,
You are an inspiration! I hope to show some of my own supers very soon.
One question though, do you actually do anything else than bringing us a new beautifully painted model every day ;)
Again, awsome man, simply awsome
Greetings,
Zeebeest
-
Cheers Zeebeest,
I've always done a lot of painting and did a lot of commissions for people so I got to paint almost every day. I'm currently looking for a real job so have a lot more time on my hands to paint and have a few painting jobs on the go, as a result I've always got several of my own supers and gaming minis on the desk too, I've got something like 100 figures in various states on my desk at any one time so can usually get a superhero finished for myself every day 8)
Today it's immortus from 'secret invasion'
Regards
Jim
-
Again a great paint job, really like your style.
I was wondering what bases you are using.
Wish you succes in jobhunting, it's important to do what you like to do.
Greetings,
Zeebeest
Ps: do you play games with them or are they just for show.
-
Thanks Zeebeest,
My bases are either 2 pence pieces, 25mm mdf or 32mm mdf usually from Warbases.
I do play games with them, some of my collection is still based for playing heroclix
but most are based for tabletop and when I can get a game we usually play SuperSystem
But have dabbled in pulp city and want to try Fanesha games Poeer Legion.
I don't get to play as often as I'd like because my regular supers opponent moved for work
and now we are only in touch via the Internet and can't game face to face.
Today's offering ids from 'justice league ' Granny Goodness
Regards
Jim
-
Another excellent paint job. I've been playing a lot more Pulp City Supreme Edition and Batman Miniatures Game than SuperSystem (although we have played a game of 4th ed and are looking for time to get another game in). They all have their niche, and with how much I love comic books, I am happy to be able to play all of them.
You're still playing 2nd Ed of SuperSystem aren't you? I like the change to 7 stats in the new one, but I still find the limitation of only a single attack per activation not to my liking. We have discussed trying our next game allowing multiple attacks.
-
Remember there's the "Flurry" maneuver.
Also, it's not one "attack" it's the one time in the turn the character cuts loose with violence. The one die pool roll can constitute an entire mini-melee, it's not just a single punch. ;)
-
Thanks obsidian3d, we played a lot of second edition, it has its charms. I also have the latest version which I like too but don't really get to play at the moment very often.
Today it's a figure I finished a couple of days ago, pulp city's Trail, part of a commission
Regards
Jim
-
Since my last visit to your thread you have been churning out quality models! That Pulp City commission looks great. The cloak is really eye catching. Granny Goodness and Immortus were really cool choices.
-
Very vibrant colours on Trail. I've seen some good ones. He's a very versatile model when it comes to colour selection.
-
Thanks very much guys!
Finished last night was Green Emperor, another pulp city mini, part of the same commission.
I'm currently working on some crossover ninjas to go with him
Regards
Jim
-
To go with the emperor, some Crossover Miniatures ninja with guns,
Regards
Jim

And their buddies with swords, and a group shot

Jim

From heroclix 'clobberin time', another super-skrull
Regards
Jim
-
Great job on him. That was a good sculpt for a Heroclix too.
-
Yeah! Super Skrull, and a great good sculpt of the subject. Your paint sells his metamorphosis nicely. The Pulp Villain and his minions looks good together. Ninjas with lasers is almost as good as sharks with lasers for a master villain.
-
I am lucky enough to be the recipient of those Ninja's and their dastardly master. Jim always does an excellent job with his brushes. I am always very happy with what he does for me and confident enough in his ability to let his imagination run riot with those paint schemes.
I can honestly say the photo's don't do justice to his skills.
Onwards and upwards Jim (and I hope you have your eyes and hands insured for vast sums) :-)
thanks as always
Simon
-
Thanks very much guys, and particularly Simon for the kind words 8)
I didn't get a chance to post up the last 2 I did for Simon, Pulp figures Vigilante and 6 feet under.
I went for a pretty straightforward copy of the card colours on vigilante, except decided on light pink for the lower part of her face, rather than the White on the card.
For six feet under I thought he'd look good with more necrotic/zombie flesh than the purple on the card.
6 feet under is also fairly difficult to get a good photo of due to his hunched pose.
Regards
Jim
-
Oh wow, what a fantastic colour scheme for Twilight!
-
The purple looks great on Twilight. You made the right call going with the zombie flesh on on 6-Feet Under. Really fits the character.
-
I really enjoy how you paint supers. Six Feet Under looks like he stepping out of a graphic novel.
-
In general I'm not really a fan of there Heroclix figures, but you really make them look good! ;)
-
Thanks very much guys for the kind words, appreciated!
Today it's a heroclix Bucky from 'Avengers'
Regards
Jim

From 'marvel classics' Iron Man,

I'm interested in those bases on your latest minis.
What is the reasoning behing the multicolor? Are those 'scorch marks'?
They really look nice.
