I'm going to use this thread to post up my painted fantasy stuff, it'll mostly be for warhammer
fantasy but will also include role playing figs and assorted fantasy gubbins
First up are a unit of Ostland cavalry. GW fantasy empire Knights, the chap I painted them for
has an all Ostland army, he converted the crests to have the bull symbol.
Regards
Jim
-
Splendid work!
For my taste the black could be a bit blacker, but these are excellent. :D
-
The Ostlanders are LOOKIN' GOOD! Your brushwork is OUTSTANDING...VERY WELL DONE!
-
Awesome. Beautiful and brutal looking at the same time.
-
Thanks chaps,
I've just finished these dwarf hammerers
Regards
Jim
-
Both really well done units. I especially like the knights though.
-
Brilliant work; esp the knights!
-
Those dwarves are excellent. There's a lot of freehand knotwork in there eh? Very nice indeed. :D
-
Those knights are fantastic.
-
The Vertically Challenged Ones are a FINE addition; BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. The dark colors suit the subjects SPLENDIDLY. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks very much for the kind words.
This is the other side of the Knights, the owner magnetised the arms on the command so they
can be replaced with lances if he isn't using full command.
Regards
Jim
-
Stunning painting! I love how you handled the high contrast colors.
Jevenkah
-
Thanks Jevenkah,
I finished 11 more of the Ostland charging Bulls Knights.
Weather here has been awful all day so had to take the photo on my desk under the painting
lamp which seems to make everything a bit 'contrasty' anyway....
Regards
Jim
-
That is quite an impressive unit. Despite the worst your work lamp could do, the Knights look WONDERFUL. GREAT WORK!
-
Really liking both units but as a stuntie lover the dwarf hammerers are just calling out to me. So love the new models and you have done them justice with your brush strokes. Cant wait to see more.
Grimm
-
Hi there!
Those two units are really looking cool.
Like them very much!
Cheers
GS
-
Thanks!
Latest update, painted these cold one Knights. The One on the left is a high elf dragon prince previously painted for a high elf army. The owner wanted his dark elf cold ones to match
So they could be used in a combined Khaine end times list.
Apologies for harshness of the light, it had to be taken indoors under a desk lamp.
Regards
Jim
-
Paul's Ostland army grew by the addition of a unit of infantry with sword and shield
Regards
Jim
-
Ah, that box was my first ever real regiment kit. I had a few of those boxes of 6 to 8 mostly monopose plastic guys before this, but the Empire state-trooper regiment was the real deal. Had to get my father to glue them together for me (much to his chagrin - I still remember his swearing at the fiddly bits).
I still have a couple kicking around.
The paint job is really nice. It's got a fine muted vibe to it, with the red complimenting that. Good stuff!
-
Today, groms chariot.
For some reason I couldn't get the model properly into focus :?
Regards
Jim
-
:-* love the state troopers! The color scheme is perfect.
-
WONDERFUL STUFF! Even in his fussy photo, I love what you did with Grom.
-
Thanks chaps!
Only 4 assorted GW demons today, still working on camera settings etc, but it's difficult to get decent photos with only the desk lamp
Regards
Jim
-
The demon Guys look SPLENDID. I really like the Fellow with the pink hands. VERY WELL DONE!
I think you might have better results with the focus if you move the minis off your painting table. The camera is probably unable to pick a focal point with all the activity on the board.
-
Haha, loving those nasty little buggers! >:D
-
I'm going to take your advise when I can DeafNala, I think you are right, these wouldn't focus properly either, but I
couldn't use daylight outside today as the weather was atrocious
Anyway, dark elf executioners but painted in a high elf colour scheme to fit into a khaine end times army
Regards
Jim
-
SPLENDID! The brushwork & color choices are OUTSTANDING...I love the vivid blue gauntlets. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks!
Today some dark riders, again painted to join a khaine combined army. Still dreadful weather
So it's one of my blurry indoor shots.
Regards
Jim
-
The Pointy Eared Riders look WONDERFUL. Your brushwork & color choices are OUTSTANDING. GREAT WORK!
-
Cheers DN!
To reinforce Paul's empire force he had me paint 3 old GW plastic foot wizards.
Metal wizard, death mage and grey mage respectively. They are stock except for the Middle guy who's
had a skull and scroll added to his staff.
Regards
Jim
-
Front and back shots of an Ostland standard bearer
Regards
Jim
-
Nice stuff - seeing this army across the table would have the tactic of stunning me into mistakes.
-
Thanks very much Von lucky
A character for Paul's Ostland force now, Valmir von raukov mounted. The horse barding is gloss varnished hence the odd shine in the photo
Regards
Jim
-
Dot vun is luvverly! :D
-
BEAUTIFULLY WELL DONE once more!
-
Thanks very much chaps!
Today's update is a unit of reichsguard foot with full command. Paul wanted them in
Lacquered armour hence the odd shine in the pictures. I was quite pleased with how the standard turned out
Regards
Jim
-
The lacquered armor is a nice touch to a FINE LOOKING Knightly Band. OUTSTANDING WORK!
-
Thanks DN :)
A mounted death wizard for Paul's empire today
Regards
Jim
-
Today I present a piece of wargaming scenery that I've made and painted.
It's for use as a chaos shrine or just difficult ground
Regards
Jim
-
Another in the same vein
Regards
Jim
-
A plastic white dwarf, I think he's from one of GWs old board games
Regards
Jim
-
The Scenes of Carnage & the new Dwarf in the Hood are WONDERFUL creations. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks again DN,
Today the glottkin
Regards
Jim
-
That is a HORRIFICALLY LOVELY creation. The sheer volume of details is staggering. Your brushwork, color choices, basing, & bloody minded tenacity are WONDROUS. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Amazing work! :o
-
Great work. Can't believe I missed this thread. More please!
-
Really like the glottkin, you've painted it in a style that really works
-
Beautiful work in this thread :-*
-
Thanks chaps!
Today I'm posting up Paul's army Standard bearer for his empire army, he wanted him carrying the imperial flag, so I didn't have any choice on colours. Again the armour is glossed
For a lacquered effect
Regards
Jim
-
That is an IMPRESSIVE banner & an equally impressive standard bearer. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Some dark elves executioners painted up to match a club mates high elves Phoenix guard.
The elf they were matching is on the left
Regards
Jim
-
I'm reposting some previous work here. I had posted this Phoenix before but didn't get decent shots inside, they were a bit blurry.
The weather has been decent today, so I've taken him outside for some decent shots.
It's the GW flame spire Phoenix. I've magnetised the flames on the neck so he can be used as an unridden or ridden Phoenix. The final shot is the spare hero on foot you get with the kit.
Regards
Jim
-
Today I finished a couple of pieces for my own army. The old GW champion from the
Nightmare legion regiment of renown and one of White Knights zombie imperial halflings,
My zombies are all freshly dead, hence the skin colour
Regards
Jim
-
splendid!
-
COOL...two favorites, old & new; AND both are BEAUTIFULLY painted & based! GREAT WORK!
-
Thank you for the comments guys,
Today another unit painted for a friends combined Khaine elves army.
Wood elf glade guard painted to match his high elves
Regards
Jim
-
That is a SPLENDID change from the tired old G.W. blue & white. Your EXCELLENT brushwork & basing finished off what a GREAT choice of color began. VERY WELL DONE!
-
What he said ;)
-
Thanks chaps,
Today it's three more undead for my own army. On the left is an old marauder spearman. The other two are black tree.
Regards
Jim
-
:o
Have painted no fantasy minis for years....you make me think....why......?
:D
-
The Mostly Dead Guys look WONDERFUL...even considering their present state of unhealth. Your eye for colors & way with the brush are OUTSTANDING. GREAT WORK!
-
Thanks for the kind words chaps,
Today some more troops for Paul's Ostland army, some "excuse me meeester" hand gunners
Regards
Jim
-
VERY WELL DONE! The Arquebusers have a certain Hispanic charm to them...Estillian Mercenaries perhaps.
-
Stunning work.
-
Cheers guys, glad you like them.
Today it's another model for Paul's Ostland army. It's the old GW war altar, couple of shots a bit shaky as I had to hold it up to see it with the camera.
Regards
Jim
-
Very striking colours on all of these miniatures.
-
Still churning out lovely models.
-
Thanks chaps, today it's a pic of a unit of old school chaos dwarfs.
The guy I painted them for sent me the pic, but they were actually painted a few years back
Regards
Jim
-
Very tall hats, as they should be for chaos dwarves!
-
The War Altar & Demented Dwarfs look WONDERFUL...OUTSTANDING WORK!
-
Beautiful war altar! I love the banner. I have special place in my heart for chaos dwarves.
-
Cheers guys :)
Another chaos dwarf, he was a limited run resin from someone on the chaos dwarf forum,
But I've had him so long I've forgotten who :-X
Anyway, he's a mad eyed sorceror type
Regards
Jim
-
You just reached the next level of UBERCOOL. The Little Psycho Sorcerer has cornered the market on character; AND your FINE paint job has brought it all out. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thank you DN,
Just finished some skirmishing archers for the army of Ostland, very old GW plastics
Regards
Jim
-
The new Old Archers are a SPLENDID addition to the Osterland Army...getting a Black & White uniform to look that attractive is a credit to your abilities with brush & colors. VERY WELL DONE once more!
-
Cheers mate!
Just a lone reaper bones paladin today,
Regards
Jim
-
There is something about your painting style that I find VERY appealing. The Devote Warrior looks SPLENDID...OUTSTANDING brushwork. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks very much DN,
Today it's a couple of plague bearers and a Nurgling swarm. They are on round bases
But will be used for 'song of blades' games
Regards
Jim
-
Coo, another show towatch - the fantasy equivalent of the supers thread - how did I miss this?
The nurglings and Plaguebearers in particular are brilliant 8) 8) 8)
-
Both varieties of Diseased Folk painted up WONDERFULLY...the Nurglings are CHARMING with a delightful mischievousness about them. VERY WELL DONE once more!
-
Just some damn fine painting there FO.
Love em on your supers and love em in your fantasy.
Nice to see another painter putting Bones through its paces and see they do just fine.
Grimm
-
Thanks very much guys, haven't had much time to paint any fantasy for a while due to family commitments and Easter hols.
Another nurgling base finished today for SoBaH,
Regards
Jim
-
And just finished some old GW gun crew for Paul's Ostland army
Regards
Jim
-
great painting followed by great painting. this is a very inspirational thread :) :-*
-
I had to comment on this thread so I can receive updates. Just echoing all the previous superlatives in the above comments.
-
The Little Horrors & the Artillery Crew share a common trait of being BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. GREAT WORK once more!
-
I had somehow missed this thread, until now. These miniatures are beautiful! Rich colours, crisp painting, beautiful basing - they're fantastic! And I love the two pieces of terrain - the ones with the shields strewn around the ground. Superb! I love your superhero miniatures, but just hadn't seen these before today, so I wanted to comment. Absolutely gorgeous stuff!
-
Thanks very much guys, your kind words are appreciated!
Just finished a 10 dwarf unit of fire drakes for a club mate

My thoughts exactly, your color palette is striking
-
Excellent nurglings. I prefer the old metal sculpts though.
-
Thanks very much guys.
@beefcake: totally in agreement, the old metal ones each had more individual character,
Sadly I traded away all of mine years ago. The new plastics are good enough though.
Today it's more re-inforcements for Paul's Ostland army, some very old plastic archers
Regards
Jim
-
You've done an excellent job on them though :)
Nice archers too
-
Cheers Beefcake,
Another hero for the Ostland army, old GW metal. Paul likes his plate armour gloss
hence the odd shine in the pic.
Regards
Jim
-
Today I've finished an old D&D minis plastic figure just repainted, he's called a Greenspawn zealot but I'll be using it as a dragon kin paladin
Regards
Jim
-
Another hero of the empire today,
Balthasar Gelt on his Pegasus
Regards
Jim
-
This one is piece of history :)
Nice work!
-
EXCELLENT! Your new creations look FANTASTIC...GREAT brushwork. For some reason, not discounting idiocy, the fellow with the eye patch & halberd always reminds moi of Georg von Frundsberg...not a bad thing. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks Demi & DN!
Today I finished the third stand of nurglings from the set for use in Song of blades,
Regards
Jim
-
The latest Nurglings have the same BEAUTIFULLY rendered, disgusting charm as your other Little Demons. VERY WELL DONE once more!
Next time I'm presented with an opportunity to buy some of those cute little rotters I may just break down & get them. Of course, I'll blame it all on you.
-
DN: lol
Just three GW dwarf iron breakers as a colour scheme test for a friends dwarf army
Regards
Jim
-
While the minis are new to moi...I don't keep up with stuff like I used to, your familiar brushwork is as BEAUTIFUL as ever. VERY WELL DONE!
The iron clad Vertically Challenged Ones have a robotic look to them which I think is rather cool.
-
Thanks DN!
A small addition to my undead army today. 6 Mantic skelly spearman.
I really like the Mantic undead, a shame none of their other figure ranges are as good :(
Regards
Jim
-
Those are some of the COOLEST Skeletal Warriors I've seen. The OUTSTANDING brushwork & basing may have colored this impression. VERY WELL DONE!
I'll have to check out the Mantic Undead Dudes. I rather like the alien, almost robotic look of their Elves...this might be another imminent senility sign.
-
Thanks again DN!
Some ratty action today, haven't done much for my fantasy project recently, but managed to finish a reaper bones large rat and two larger armed rats from 'mice and Mystics' which will be used in Song of blades games
Regards
Jim
-
The Rats armed & dangerous or otherwise look TERRIFIC...GREAT WORK!
-
Thanks!
A couple of old plastic skellies today. I'm not 100% certain who made them, I think they
are from Fortress figures. They are going into my warhammer undead army. The anatomy
is a bid odd in places, but they are quite characterful
Regards
Jim
-
A reaper bones plastic dwarf female character, rebased on 20mm square for warhammer
Regards
Jim

This is such a nice thread. I really enjoy your paintjobs - Nice and clean. I also think your basing is particularly great.
-
This is such a nice thread. I really enjoy your paintjobs - Nice and clean. I also think your basing is particularly great.
...that makes at least two of us. I really enjoy your painting technique. The Skeletal Fellow & the Dwarf Babe are FINE examples of your painting style & flair for colors. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks very much guys! I've been a bit lax getting any fantasy stuff done due to my supers,
But I've just finished a reaper bones plastic Gorgon,
Regards
Jim
-
FANTASTIC! That is one flashy looking Metal Bovine...BEAUTIFULLY painted & based. VERY WELL DONE!
-
I just finished working my way through this thread... c'est magnifique! Very inspiring especially the adaptation via alternative paint schemes of the elves and the older generation figures. Love it! :D
-
Nicely painted gorgon in all its metallic glory.
-
I painted my gorgon very similar. Not a great mini for painting I found but your looks great. A wider range of colours than mine. Nice!
-
Thanks very much guys,
Small update, an old mage knight manticore. It's very small so the idea is its either a very small one in 25 mm games or a large one in 15mm games. The unpainted guy is 15mm for scale
Regards
Jim
-
That is a SPLENDIDLY painted & based Beasty...I love his expressive face. VERY WELL DONE!
