We had an all day game at the usual BLAM location on the Sunday, set on Mars with a cast of literally hundreds (well, about 170-180) :D
A renegade Martian Prince was being taken on a troop review of the Japanese forces stationed outside New Victoria but unfortunately word got to the closest Sky Martian Clans who wanted a souvenir...
A blurry view of the table set up with New Victoria at the bottom and the Japanese encampment just of centre near the top

A train moves along the Albert viaduct

Martians!!! Attacking from three sides the Martians make straight for the Prince.

Meanwhile in New Victoria the British look on in ................ (fill the blank as none of knew what they were doing lol )

The fighting around the camp gets viscous as Sky Martians para send from their skiffs

Stout chaps those Japanese, not even turning round to face the enemy without getting the order ::) lol

Martians board the train only to find it empty with only one crew aboard (who was quickly dispatched). The crewman falls on the controls sending the train steaming ahead to New Victoria station...

The Japanese make a brave stand but is it too late for the navy to save them?

Yes, it was but the navy displayed some superb flying skills... (avoiding not getting buried in a cliff face was considered superb ;) )

The British finally come out to see what all the fuss is about and stroll up next to a Martian trade delegation and have some tiffin.

An overall view of the action so far

What are those Aak Naks doing cowering behind the wall :o

The trains boiler blows up in spectacular fashion (this picture of course was taken just before the event..) and when the steam clears some Aak Naks try to tip the train onto the Sky Martians below...

With hilarious results (it fell back on them almost wiping them all out lol )

The fighting continues however with the Prince and most of the Japanese getting butchered

Blast those sneaky Martians!
The Martian trade delegation decide to go for an amble in the canal...

With the Prince massacred along with the Japanese, the British finally taking an interest and with skiffs falling out of the sky from the navy's 'warning shots' the remaining Sky Martians beat a hasty retreat to their enclaves deep in the desert...

Much fun was had, many thanks to those who showed up and thanks to Mark for GMing and allowing me to play (first time I've played on the full set up :D ).
cheers

A splendid day out full of VSF goodness. ;D

A splendid day out full of VSF goodness. ;D
Oh, yes!
;D
I must point out that the Martian was not butchered.
He had a much worse fate in store for him.... ;)
-
Oh, that was just out of this world! (pardon the pun) :-*
You lucky buggers you, getting to play that fine game.

The dreaded M' aar - Mite finger.... :o
lol lol lol
Is that how it is known on Mars?
:D

Spiffing game - highlights for me were:
- The realisation from the Japanese Navy that their enthusiasm to get into the fight meant the speed they were travelling was likely to plough them into the mesa! One of the nefs stopped within an inch (literally) of the cliff face
- The moment when it all went belly up for the Martian Askaris who were trying to tip the engine off the bridge; a positive event for the martian gene pool and a candidate for one of the very first Darwin awards
- The overall look of the game - James's terrain is superb and the table looks great.
- The scotch eggs in the pub! :D
-
Excellent visuals as usual, love those stylish skiffs :)
-
Wow! What a set-up and game!
-
- The scotch eggs in the pub! :D
Couple that with the baked beans and chips that you had and I bet Bullshott had a fun time driving back with you in the car.
:o :o

Aces! Well done those dastardly martians making mincemeat of the unprepared earthmen. lol
You've got a bloody junction now, Jim? If we leave you alone long you're liable to build a direct physical rail link to Mars by hand. ;D
-
The British line held the walls against the Martian threat. When said Martian threat wasn't forthcoming they moved out to support the Japanese. Unfortunately the Japanese commander had chosen to place his camp on the far side of a canal... With no bridge...
The British 'taking an interest' resulted in wiping out three full Martian groups. More than the Japanese managed.
-
What a great set up and game! Well done!
-
So that's what was going on over there / taking up the other 80% of the room!
;)
A grand spectacular. Well done chaps. Was it Kev who got his aliens squashed by the choo-choo?
-
Sooooooperb! A great yarn chaps! :-* :-*
Do those pesky Martians have the tech to get to Earth (developed by themselves or nicked)?
-
A grand spectacular. Well done chaps. Was it Kev who got his aliens squashed by the choo-choo?
Yes indeed, I claim the dubious honour of earning the first Martian Darwin Award! :D
Were you not entertained?!? ;D

That was quite an entertaining moment, even from the perspective of our neighbouring 1455 battlefield ;)

Get me indeed. Got back in time for tiffin too :D

Stunning game!

Does the pub still have that lovely light ale on tap?
So who was the anti-social Japanese army commander then?
-
Me :D

Me :D
Ah...... :)
-
Fantastic stuff; very inspirational pictures. It looks like it was a fun game :)
-
As a result of this, the Japanese will be the first nation to be awarded NEGATIVE fieldcraft ratings - for camping outside the city walls with a canal between them and reinforcements/sanctuary behind the city walls lol
-
Bravo! Absolutely amazing looking table! :-*

Especially after watching it built all these years... lol
I particularly love the trestle to nowhere. Very evocative; here's hoping the points are properly locked down. lol lol
Thanks! Ever so jealous! Of anyone playing a full game, as it turns out.

Well up to your usual standards! I enjoyed working through those pictures and following the unfolding game.

Lovely game! May I ask what rules were used?
-
Ooo, good question o_o
Er, I think it was a Sharp Practise mod but we've moved on since then and are now using a Muskets and Tomahawks mod I believe (I'm not the rules boffin of our group, I just make and paint shit lol).
cheers
